So, just some Great Advice

Initially I didn't know whether to post this here, or under the bugs and such heading, because clearly this was a mistake. Right? Why is it that you're ushering out a 50% discount for a year of Pro for New Subscriptions only? Is the message Roll20 really wants to send on the Day after Thanksgiving with all that Black Friday excitement, that loyalty has its disadvantages? So as with the job market, most internet, insurance groups, etc. we need to take our business elsewhere, and fairly often so that we can be appreciated and valued to any degree? Otherwise we're just considered token? Shirley you jest.

Because that's how sales work?
I think you missed the point...
Phone and wireless carriers, ISPs, insurance companies, etc. all use the same tactic. The purpose is to increase subscriptions, not maintain them; retaining current subscribers is supposed to be done by the quality and benefits of the product. For example, I'll be keeping my Pro subscription because I use the Transmogrifier and MODs all the time, and I also get a lot of value from the monthly free Roll20 Reserve offering. "Taking my business elsewhere" would mean having to duplicate all of my digital content to work on another VTT, and that would cost much more than that 50% subscription discount would "save".

Yeah, and usually people hop carriers and ISPs and Insurance companies, because if you don't you're generally paying more for a service than you otherwise would. While I understand it's done this way..., it still is a slap in the face to those who have been loyal to the service, and while it might cost you more, because you've overly invested in the venue, the reality is the general message is that you the 'stable' part of what they rely on to keep their doors open, are being told thanks, you're no longer valued. Retention is a thing as well...  Rolling over and presenting our posteriors isn't a viable tactic, it's just capitulation.
People (including me) switch insurance companies, ISPs, etc. in order to save money or get better services. Switching VTTs won't save me any money, and so far I'm satisfied with what I'm getting for what it costs (others may disagree). I don't think it's a matter of current subscribers not being valued: current subscribers are retained by maintaining and improving the product's value. Reducing the subscription price by 50% across the board would be shooting themselves in the foot; any increase in Pro subscriptions would never offset the reduced revenue unless those subscriptions doubled in number. What would you suggest as a way to entice people to upgrade their subscription?
There you go, we disagree. No big deal. And I do understand the fiscal side of things, but then I've also been here for several years when the 'quality and improvement' of the product were dubiously questionable at best, but had high hopes and put faith in them. It's just nice to see how that's underwhelmingly appreciated currently. But to each their own. We teach people how to treat us.
