At least verify valid email for new accounts

I don't know how much it would help the forum spam situation, but perhaps at least verify a valid email address for a new account before allowing it to post? As it stands, you can create an account with a completely bogus email, then log in with it and start replying and posting.
I've been calling attention to the spam problem before too, without much success. It's especially bad during EU mornings, when I suspect the mods are sound asleep. It's practically a morning routine to flag spam, and it seems it falls to unpaid users.
Another idea would be to delay permission for a new account to post to the forum for 24 hours.

You guys are reporting the spams too? I've been flagging spam posts on here every day.  Wonder if we end up reporting the same ones, or there's that many that we see different spams
I flag them when I see them. Some days I'll see two or three; some days none at all.

In recent weeks I tend to Flag about 3-4 spams almost every day with them mostly being the AI type that has some on-topic sentences that seem topical but fake. Back in the old days, years ago, there used to be days we'd log-in and the entire forum (every post that you could see, top to bottom) was all spams on here. They fixed it from that level of problem.
When I see SPAM here, I report it immediately... sometimes one, sometimes more... ;)
