"Recent Uploads" and No Other Folder Storage for Assets?

Hi... so... someone walk me through this... Why am I making folders at all if my assets are to remain in the Recent Uploads section forever? To provide shortcut links to the particular assets? Not a bad idea IN CONCEPT if it didn't happen that copying the asset into the shortcut folder (for "organization", I presume?) ALSO copies the asset AGAIN to the Recent Uploads section. Whose idea was that? I don't want two of them, or another copy of the same asset it's literally next to in the Recent section. I want to MOVE the one I PUT in the Recent Uploads section into a separate storage folder. You're already storing the assets in the account, just provide folders so WE can store them how we want to store them and so we don't have to dig through literal thousands of hours/years of asset uploading to find the one(s) we want. Is there ANY way to accomplish this, or am I burdened with the (I'm sorry, actually terrible) decision/idea to have a "master list" of literally thousands of assets that I can only make 'quick link shortcuts' to? Thoroughly unimpressed.
I completely agree that the current art library system is ... very poorly implemented. You aren’t moving or copying anything. Your Art Library folders contain pointers to the images.

Hi Mike the DM! All files live in "Recent Items". Folders contain pointers, as Andrew says. Think of the folders as more like tags. If you don't want to see the images you have organized into "folders", There is a filter button at the top of Recent Items to toggle their visibility.

Unfortunately, that function doesn't always work: Edit: All the assets shown in the "Uploaded Assets" section have been organized into my user created folders. I posted a help request (#98905 from 8/2022) about the duplicate problem long ago and the support folks couldn't figure it out. <shrug> It's annoying, but I live with it. Hmmph. Didn't remember that being reported. And those are verified as non-duplicates, and cache was flushed at some point?
Exactly. Sometimes it works... sometimes it doesn't. MOST of the time it replicates the token in the Recently Uploaded area AGAIN... which is annoying. Dragging the token to the open-on-the-screen folder replicates it in the Recent Upload area... but for some reason dragging from the Recent are to the 'opened' (as in clicking the '+') folder directly above makes it disappear. It's a work around... and work-arounds should not be necessary for easy coding fixes. The impetus should not be on the user to figure out a way around a "feature". Correct. Miles looked into this for me and was stymied. Apparently the "duplicates" aren't really duplicates because they aren't taking up space. They seem to be duplicate links; when the link is created in folder, another link appears in the "Recent Uploads" section. If I delete the original both the link in the folder and the dupe in Recent Uploads get broken. keithcurtis said: Hmmph. Didn't remember that being reported.
