⚡ Handout Edit Window Issues ⚡

The size of the editing fiend is WAY too BIG. It is so far down to the bottom that I cannot even see the edit tools unless I resize the field...and having to do it  every time I edit  is really, really inconvenient. For reference: The height of the edit window should be no more than 875 total pixels from top to bottom The height of the text field should be no more than 530 total pixels high. This accounts for persons with resolutions of 1920x1080 screens...which is still very much in use. I do not know if the change was intentional, but the text field is now about 1500 pixels tall, which makes the buttons completely out of reach without scrolling up the entire window.
Hi DnDPlay20, The handout edit window seems "same as it ever was" to me (Chrome on MacBook Pro) though it might be due to the higher resolution. Could you post a sample screenshot?
Likewise for me: I haven't noticed any change in the handout edit windows. I do use 1920 x 1080 resolution. This is the editing window that I see when I  open a new handout for editing (I haven't resized the window at all):

The Max size of the handout editing field was recently changed (in the last month or two). Without content, the minimum size should be the same. The problem is that the overall window of the handout is coming into play. With the window at the default size, the field requires scrolling to see top and bottom. If the window itself is enlarged, this is enough space for the entire field to display on a 1080p monitor, without changing the size of the edit field. I don't think the default size of a window is a simple change, as it may touch other areas of Roll20 unfavorably. Nevertheless, something has to be resized for the feature to be easy to use. I'll see if I can call attention to this thread, and I also urge you to report to the team in a  Help Center Request . This creates a ticket to be looked at.

That's interesting there was a change recently. I am not seeing it (looks the same to me today, as what I remember). Just tested in smaller & larger resolutions than 1080p, in Jumpgate, and saw what I expected the size to be from recent years.

You'd have to have content in the text field to notice. Then it expands to the entire length of the content. I would post pics of it, but about to start a stream.

There was an increase to the maximum vertical size available due to amount of content or manual resizing. You wouldn't see any difference on an empty handout. May 6: • Updated GM notes & text input sections in handouts by 3x to make editing and writing easier DnDPlay20, does this behavior coincide with what you are seeing, or is this different? The editing area should not be any larger, unless you have enough content to force the size change.

I can confirm that I am also experiencing what keithcurtis describes. If I create a new handout, as soon as I type a second or third line, the text field starts getting bigger (most noticeably this makes the scroll bar on the right shrink as you type). It gets bigger the more text you put in, and adding any tables causes it to jump to huge size... which makes editing tabled content especially annoying, because you can't easily access the buttons that add or delete a row.

I create mine in a word processor and past them in so I can color the cells. But the field really gets longer then.
