Generate shops and treasure instantly! (D&D Early Access)

Quoting this for emphasis through repetition. Any computer or user interface knowledge beyond the most basic should not be a prerequisite to playing and enjoying a TTRPG. Adding and configuring browser extensions is not "basic". I have one player - a member of our player group for many years - who until recently didn't know what I meant when I asked what browser they were using; to him, it was just "the internet icon" on his desktop. I have other players that aren't interested in learning even the most basic kinds of customization, and they shouldn't have to. They just want to play the game. Ken S. said: I'll chime in on the no-external-code aspect: I could do it, but I have players who are not computer literate (really: clearing a browser cache is problematic) and they aren't local to me. There is no way they'd ever be able to install somethng like that.

Jonathan K. said: Keith - what you posted is really appreciated. My point still stands though, that the default for Roll20 is lightmode and the sheet released with out (and months later remains with out it). Roll20 shouldn't be expecting people to install additional software for basic functionality.. restoring that basic functionality should be the priority.. Thanks Jonathan. I agree with your point absolutely, but the discussion is beginning to co-opt the Loot Manager thread. I'm happy to advocate fast-tracking the light mode wherever the subject comes up, and providing the current workaround instructions in its absence, but it might be better to make a suggestion thread and direct folks to it (if one doesn't exist already). Roll20AM does pay attention to those threads which gain traction, and I'll do what I can to help promote it. In the meantime, though, I think this thread would benefit from remaining focused on the Loot Manager and its development.
Hey, love the idea and can't wait for the drag and drop automation. Would it be possible to add other loot tables to the pool though? I'm thinking trinkets ideally, but if we could just specify the loot table thats also good!

Adding a few more sub-types wouldn't hurt either (wands, staves, rings, etc) Maybe a checklist rather than a drop down, for better granularity? It might be worth a deep dive into the variety of tags that items in the compendium employs. I agree with Keith about sorting by item type. I have a homebrew D&D magic item price table I've been using that sorts items by rarity and item type to determine the base price. I would love to be able to do this with the new shop feature as a default for all my shops, then make adjustments like markups and availability. Another feature that might be fun to add would be the merchant's money, which they can spend on player character items sold to the shop from the PCs. This may be shooting for the stars, but I would love to have a fully functional trading screen where you can barter with items in your own inventory. A lot of shopping sessions I run involve a bit of haggling. I offer bulk-item discounts, group-buying discounts, and item-for-item trading. I would also like to be able to just send an item from the shop directly into a character's inventory. For reference: Here's my magic item price table, designed for the 2024 DMG prices. Type and Rarity Common 50-100 gp Uncommon 100-400 gp Rare 400-4,000 gp Very Rare 4,000-40k gp Legendary 40k-200k gp Wondrous 100 gp 400 gp 4,000 gp 40,000 gp 200,000 gp Ring 95 gp 350 gp 3,500 gp 35,000 gp 180,000 gp Staff 90 gp 300 gp 3,000 gp 30,000 gp 160,000 gp Rod 85 gp 250 gp 2,500 gp 25,000 gp 140,000 gp Wand 80 gp 200 gp 2,000 gp 20,000 gp 120,000 gp *Armor 75 gp 150 gp 1,500 gp 15,000 gp 100,000 gp *Weapon 70 gp 125 gp 1,000 gp 10,000 gp 80,000 gp Potion 50 gp 100 gp 400 gp 4,000 gp 40,000 gp *Add the equipment price for the item. Spell scrolls cost 50 gp for cantrips and 100 gp per spell level.
Still need light mode on order for me to switch over to the 2024 character sheet.
I build a shop for my game Friday to test it out. Was quick, easy, and over all I like it. The look is very dull and blocky. A separator bar would be nice too. Like something to cut the shop into sections. Such as potions, weapons, armor, etc. Would love to be able to add images as someone said but my main problem is you can't link items to handouts. Currently, in a shop made from a Handout you can link to compendium as well as other handouts. A custom item or one of the many Marketplace contents that comes on handouts rather than added to compendium can only be represented as a Name. No descriptions are possible and no linking to handouts. So no way for a player to know any info about the item other than name and price. Hope you add descriptions/linking to a handout in the future.

It's been mentioned here, but I have been searching and searching, and I don't see where to add the 2024 sheets to a 2014 game. Can someone help me out? I do not see a how-to.

Can someone help me out? I do not see a how-to. Your game must be in Jumpgate to enable both character sheets. In Jumpgate, you can go to the chat window and select 'My Settings'. From there you can scroll down to the 'Character Sheet Settings' menu and can enable the 2024 sheet.
D&D 2024 announcement headers should be predicated with "D&D 2024" so that us non-D&D 2024 peasants don't waste our time on it.
I'm rather surprised not to see it on this thread, but on the 8/6 blog post , near the end under "2014 sheet is here to stay", they announced that "2014 sheet users can enjoy some of 2024’s new features, like Shop and Treasure Sheets". It's not clear what that actually means, as it was just describing the fact that the same game can have both 2014 sheets (characters) and 2024 sheets (shops) if desired. Does it also mean drag and drop (or whatever "buy an item" mechanic hopefully gets implemented someday) would work? After all, you can drag and drop from the same (new) compendium to either sheet, so it should be technically possible. I look forward to getting more detail in future posts.

I am unaware of whether cross-sheet drag/drop will be implemented.
I had an interesting thought tonight: since you can use the shops version of the 2024 sheet in a game with the 2014 sheet, could you use it in a game with some other sheet? After all, the two sheets aren't interacting with each other. Short answer: no. You can only enable a second sheet if the first is the 2014 (or presumably 2024) sheet. The control just isn't there otherwise. And once you create a two-sheet game you can't remove a sheet and swap in another. Removals are blocked until you remove the second sheet in-game. Which makes me wonder: why not? I'd love to use the 2024 sheet in it's shops version with another game I play (Traveller). Is there something about the compendium that locks it to one sheet type (and why, it's just a list of items)? Anyway, as feedback for the devs: consider adding more flexibility for shops, if the codebase doesn't somehow block this functionality.

Ken S. said: Which makes me wonder: why not? Regarding why not, my understanding is that it was a pretty heavy lift to enable just the 2014 and 2024 sheets to be in the same game with each other. I expect it has gotten easier with the other half-and-half games via regular sheets + Demiplane sheets, but I would expect each of those is still a 1-off. Not a generalized system for implementing dual-sheets. But, there are still some issues involved. Such as templates and API Scripts being controlled by the dominant sheet. Still, I hope for the future that eventually a more generalized system is enabled.

I need that feature for certain games and methods (such-as being able to run a 5E Module from the Roll20 Marketplace, using a "Kids" Character Sheet created for younger players learning how to play).
I just upgraded to pro but do not have the option to use the loot manager:

Loving the shop sheets I've been setting up a bunch of vendors for my games. I mostly use manual drag and drop from the compendium and have some thoughts on improvements that would help me and folks like me: i'd like to be able to link to a handout OR a compendium item by adding a link to an item in my shop. i'd like to be able to change/ edit the compendium or handout link in an item in my shop. i'd like to be able to selectively show/hide items in my shop (e.g. the special stuff out the back of the shop that you don;t get to look at without asking) i'd like to be able to selectively show hide the prices i am charging i'd like to be able to add a description to items in the shop interface i'd like to be able to add a DM note that is always hidden from players, to items in the shop interface (though if i can link items to handouts per item 1 above, this become less important because i can make a note inside the DM section of the handout and hoppefully remember to check it when a player comes a calling to buy that potion of poison) i'd probably like some grouping options in the interface, but i can always have multiple vendor sheets to manage that people would probably appreciate a free add-on with some pre-populated shops with the default stuff from the 2024 SRD in them. For example, i have made a few default shop characters which will be useful to me to copy and paste from - i made a general store with all the standard mundane adventuring equipment in it, an alchemist with alchemy stuff, and so forth) EDIT - omfg it does not copy. that is frustrating guys. why can i not copy a freakin' vendor?? Side note - using the compendium would have been easier if there was a obvious way to filter by item rarity. Add a filter items by rarity in the compendium please (or someone come and point out my stupidity for not using existing filters for that - eiher would be fine ). Cheers - ps - loving this, looking forward to more features in the shop sheet!
@Gold, +1 added and a note about shops to the multiple sheets suggestion. And, in general, I agree that's a good idea, although likely technically complex, particularly if they're mixing old-school and "new" sheets. in the same game.

Hi, 1- The Drag&Drop feature for 2024 sheets will operate: from a chest/shop to a character ? from a character to a chest/shop ? from a chest/shop to a chest/shop ? 2- if the "character to a chest/shop" is planned, what about a totally customized Item ? I have a process to create a custom "Scepter of Mighty Power" with charges for Wishes, Gates, etc.. as if this object went from a Compendium Will such an item be droppable from a character to a chest ? Thx
