So, I have no idea how to make this happen, but it would be really nice if the dropdowns in token settings accurately allowed us to track hit points (max and current) for individual instances of characters. For example, If I set a field to hit points for an NPC, whatever that number is will be spread across all instances of that NPC..and in both fields for that token circle. It's not realistic, since we might have 4 Bugbears, each as a different instance, each with it's own hit points. At present, I've been leaving the dropdown blank...because there really isn't any other option. I just put the max in both and then subtract from the first field as damage is done. This works, but is not ideal. I don't know if I'm explaining this right...but this has been an issue for years now...and I was hoping the 2024 sheets would have a solution. Maybe two dropdowns for a field is appropriate. One for current HP that is variable. One for Max that is spread across all instances? I'm sure others can come up with better ideas, but it would be really great to finally be dealt with. Adding a Temp HP option to the dropdown would be great too.
I don't understand why you consider the current method less than ideal. Setting up the default token for NPCs under "Game Settings" to fill in the current and max hp for aa token bar is pretty straightforward. Once you set that up, all tokens pulled from a compendium will have the HP set  automatically. Those options are not available in the 2024 sheet. Rick A. said: I don't understand why you consider the current method less than ideal. The game settings don't work with the D&D 5E (2024) sheet? You can't set defaults for NPCs dragged from compendium? Yet another reason for me to stick with the D&D 5E (2014) sheet. DnDPlay20 said: Those options are not available in the 2024 sheet.

I'd also add that even in the 2014 sheet, they have issues. For example, I like to set the last bubble on NPC sheets to npc_challenge. It only shows up half the time when set as a default. I almost always have to change it directly in every token's settings.
That's true, and I think it's due to inconsistencies in how the NPC sheets are set up. I use the third bubble for Passive Perception and also have to input it manually, because the actual value is not always under "npc_perception". At least I can get the two values for HP and the AC link consistently. VTTeamPlayers said: I'd also add that even in the 2014 sheet, they have issues. Hi VTTeamPlayers,  To clarify, the proper course is the one you have stated is not ideal. Linking bars to Characters is only for one-off (such as PCs) characters. Characters which are duplicates of each other should not have bars linked to the Character.  I don't know if Roll20 can change this setup as it would require many placeholders on a Character Sheet. How many placeholders would be enough? How do you prevent the placeholders from overwhelming the sheet? Etc.  I agree that it would be nice if the max value were an independent setting, but that might overly complicate the token settings for not a lot of gain.  My usual process for setting up a token is to link the bar for a moment hen unlink it. That leaves the numeric values set without me having to look them up and type them in.
