Jumpgate: Reduce the buffer space around the map, or allow it to be customizable.

Score + 5
I understand that this space was added in order to give GMs a place to add tokens or notes for each map, which I appreciate. However, the amount of dead space is pretty excessive. It actually makes it harder for me to use maps, because I can't quickly navigate around the page by scrolling. The recenter icon is nice, but often, I'm trying to get to the edges of the map, not the dead center.  Some suggestions: Make the buffer optional. While it's nice for some maps, the vast majority probably only need a small amount of margin. Make it proportional to the map. If I have a 20x20 map, I don't need it in the dead center of a 100x100 canvas. A buffer of half the height or width would likely be fine. Give the option to shove the map to one side of the buffer, rather than having it off to the side.  Add buttons for quickly moving to the top, bottom, and sides of the map.  If I zoom out, allow me to zoom in on a portion of the map by zooming in where my cursor is.

Granted it may be a little different on different computers with different types of pointing devices. For me on a Mac laptop trackpad, it's easy, it's exactly what you said. I hold the ALT key while doing the scrolling motion on the trackpad. The map zooms-unzooms centered on my cursor. It is quite easy and fast to zoom to any corner, edge, spot or area of the map.  So if you are just using the Zoom bar, and that's what's only zooming to the center of screen --- try to figure out how to do the mouse-zoom. It should zoom to wherever your cursor is.
Upvoted. I would love to have a "Marquee Zoom", or "Zoom to Window" ability. Katie C. said: If I zoom out, allow me to zoom in on a portion of the map by zooming in where my cursor is.
