Any way to share the DMG to the compendium for only DM access?

So, the D&D compendium is an incredibly useful asset. Both for my players and for my own use. The drag-and-drop feature alone is a god-send! But when I share the Dungeon Master's Guide (DMG), it puts ALL the weird options in the DMG into the character creations options, adding--for example--weird options to mastery selections (" Antimatter Rifle Mastery, " for example). These were specialized ideas for off-norm campaigns, and do not fit my campaign. But if I REMOVE the DMG from compendium sharing, then I can't access things from the DMG through the compendium myself. Which sucks. Is there any way to make the DMG items searchable in the compendium, but not allow them to be searchable for players? (and more importantly, not have them show up during character creation?) I'd appreciate input from anyone on this, especially any of the Roll20 staff. Right now I am having to manually get things from the DMG itself, which is awkward. And I can't drag-and-drop anything from it, but have to enter it manually on the NPC sheet. Thanks! Michael

Hi Michael! Sort of, but the solution is probably not what you are looking for. You can turn off the DMG as a source in your game on the Compendium Sources section of the Game Settings Page. That will keep the material from showing up in-game. You as GM can still access the whole book in a separate window outside the game, using the web-based compendium. There is currently no way to share a resource in-game and not have it be universal to all folks in that game. If the concern is character creation, you can temporarily toggle it off during that period, and toggle it back on later.

Yeah, that's kind of the kludge I have been using. I was just hoping for a better solution. Oh well. Thanks, Keith! Much appreciated. keithcurtis said: [Snip...] If the concern is character creation, you can temporarily toggle it off during that period, and toggle it back on later.
It's a bit of a shame we can't disallow sources from players only... I had a cursed item from one of my sources that I gave to my player, they were looking in the compendium to drag it onto their sheet before I could get to it... so yeah they found out it was cursed and it ruined the surprise. Maybe some day!

Yeah, cursed items require a bit of foresight and planning. Tell the player it's one thing, but secretly know it another. Sorry it got spoiled.

For things like cursed items or others where I want to keep certain things secret from the player, I'll tell them that it's something similar; when they drag that similar item from the compendium I'll either secretly modify it on their sheet (I prep any attribute changes in a text file for easy cut and paste) or simply keep a note about the effects in a handout that only I can see.  (The character sheet we use is easier to make those kinds of changes - that aren't obvious to he player - than some others) That all requires advance planning, but I never create treasures, or any "random" encounters for that matter, on the fly.
I do things "on-the-fly" all the time. Kind of my specialty. lol Even when I plan things in great detail, things get added or dropped on a moment's notice due to player action. That's why being able to drop things from the DMG would have been nice. But  c'est la vie . That's just the way it goes.
