[LFP] [5e 2024] [Online, Weekly] [Thursday 8:00pm EST] [LGBTQ+] DM looking to 1 more Player for long-term homebrew campaign

"The lands weep in shadow. Someday, this long dream will at last come to an end." A massive continent and pangaea formation carved and painted from the stonework hands of the Creation Pantheon, the founding of Odainljos marked the advent of the calendar for her children beloved. Here, all manner of abundance and life can be found sprawled across its canvas, from Galren’s frigid winterlands to the fullbright prairies that dot the southern expanse. Yet, all is not beautiful in the Light of Yore as her makers once decreed their sanctified lands– for the better part of its existence, Odainljos has been a canvas of blood and buck, flawed as her mortal instruments are. The recent years as of late have depicted a savage land mired in conflict, forsaken by the divinity in her creators. Dark clouds have enveloped a third of the Forsaken Lands’ skies since the emergence of a liberation war perpetrated by the theocratic inquisition from Galren’s seat of power in the northern reaches. The Divine Tide, as it has been called, seeks to herd its sister powers underneath its banners in an effort to shepherd all peoples of Odainljos for the coming end days. Its sovereigns have declared the arcane weave of Magic the cause for which the shadows bleed the sky, salt the earth and cast a plague of malediction and melancholy upon commoner and nobility alike. Good afternoon everyone, I go by Solace (he/him), and I've been actively playing D&D for about four years; however, my exposure to the D&D space spans all the way back to 2018, being an avid enjoyer of Critical Role's second campaign. I've long since enjoyed the game from a player's perspective, but after experiencing a fair amount of misfortune in trying to find another long-term campaign with some friends to play on Thursdays, I finally decided to pick up the mantle behind the screen for a change. My only real experience in being a DM is that I have ran a one-shot before, and my experience majorly lies within the 2014 ruleset; that being said, I would say that I have a strong grasp on the mechanics and rules of both 2014 and 2024 rulesets, and look forward to testing myself. As the title indicates, we will be playing D&D 5e using the 2024 ruleset  with some House Rules. Our campaign will take place in a Homebrew setting of my own creation called  Odainljos , and long-term means that I intend to run this campaign for  bare minimum one year , and moreso leaning towards  around or at least two years . Player Characters will experience the full ride from Level 1 to Level 20, and experience a plethora of things and threats along the way! I am only looking for one more player to round out a group of five total players . The four other players include my significant other, as well as friends and fellow players from other campaigns that I am currently in. Rest assured, I will make it one of my priorities that you will feel integrated into the group and not feel alienated, as well as remaining an objective arbiter .  Our game will take place  weekly  on  Thursdays  at 8:00 PM EST  (this day is locked in, but the starting time may shift to 7:30 or 8:30 PM depending on what the players prefer). I have no preference for experience whatsoever! Whether you're experienced or a new player, I am looking for anyone who is interested in both the group, system and world that I have to offer! I intend for the campaign to have a good balance between roleplaying and combat; I enjoy both aspects of the game, but moreso the former, and I expect an approximate 60/40 split between roleplay and combat (this can definitely shift based on player decisions). I want my players to feel a sense of immersion with the world, and to really put forth their creative muscles in working alongside me to help carve a place for their characters in that big, scary world. We will be using  Discord  for all communications and VoIP; video is not required, but  voice is required  (please have a decent quality microphone!). An absolutely mandatory expectation that I have for a prospective player is to be LGBTQ+ Friendly, no exceptions . Please include the phrase "dream in magic" somewhere in your post or message to demonstrate that you've read this post. I would also ask that applicants be  at least 18 years old , as Odainljos is somewhat of a darker world (not in the NSFW/ERP way, rest assured). If you are interested in filling out this last slot, please leave a post in this thread or send me a private message with your Discord username  indicating your interest and telling me anything you wish to share such as what you enjoy most about D&D and/or something fun that you've experienced in a campaign! If you're chosen, I will send you a private message to further our discussions and see if it is a good match with my other players. If there's any questions, please include them in your response as well. Thank you for considering and reading my post!
hey! Would love to hear more about this, if y'all are still looking. A little about me: you can call me Ivy (they/any), history student and avid reader, writer, roleplayer, worldbuilder, major fantasy nerd, what have you -- one could say that I  dream in magic ? I've some experience with 5e 2014, but online play and 2024 edition will both be a little new to me, so looking forward to seeing how that plays out. As for what I enjoy most about D&D... I really love the collaborative storytelling element of TTRPGs in general, but in particular I'm a big fan of failure, or having the dice and DM take my character in a direction that I didn't necessarily expect them to go. I'm also a fan of collaborative world- and character-building, intra-party friendships and roleplay, and big ol' complicated character arcs of all sorts. Definitely more of a roleplayer than a min-maxer, but I promise not to be totally useless during combat. Feel free to reach out for my Discord if you're interested in chatting further, but in any case, best of luck finding a good fit!
Heyo! I'd be interested in this group if the slot is still available!  You can call me Raf, 27yo, she/her, biologist background and currently stay-at-home mom. Previously I've had 5-6 yrs of player experience in a long term campaign and wish to find another game to play in. I've got a real passion for DND, so much so that I Dream in Magic. I've got 2 character ideas lined up and would be happy to share both to see which one would fit best with the group.  My Discord is helhrafn. I hope to hear from you!
