Hello Everyone. I'm putting together a short 10-12 session playtest campaign for a retro-fantasy game that I will publish later this year. This is open to people with any level of experience. If you have never played a TTRPG before, or have never played in an old-school campaign and are curious, this is a great place to start. Here are the basic details: GAME TIME Weekly, Fridays 7-11pm EST START DATE Friday June 12th (Late comers are always welcome if party size allows) GAME / PLAYSTYLE Ruins & Relics is very similar to B/X and BECMI D&D. If you've not played those before the quick synopsis is that it a vey lean ruleset built around exploration and treasure acquisition. It is much grittier than modern versions of D&D, and much less story driven. Instead it focusses more on things like clever problem solving, resource management, sneakiness and diplomacy. CAMPAIGN THEME Traditional dungeon exploration. The game includes a sample dungeon geared at teaching new DMs and players the game. We will be exploring this dungeon in the campaign. PARTY SIZE I would like to have between 6-8 players. This used to be the standard party size in old-school D&D and the dungeon adventure that I wrote assumes this size. Further, this allows flexibility with scheduling as we move into the summer vacation season. If one or two people can't make a session we can just fill their places with hired retainers that night. So this frees us up from having to try to coordinate everyone's schedules from week to week. FORMAT We will be playing largely theatre of the mind but using Roll20 for combat and dungeon mapping. In addition we will be using Discord for the voice and video feed. Each person can either choose to create a character or use one of the provided pre-gens I've created for the game.
