Dynamic Lighting: Illumination Zones like Hide/Reveal Mask

I find the global illumination/Daylight mode of Dynamic Lighting almost useless. Most maps in the adventures I run are mixed environments, either indoors and outdoors or natural caverns and worked areas. It would be helpful to be able to designate regions of ambient illumination and lack of it, such as the outdoor areas having natural lighting while the indoors areas do not, or the worked areas having a level of lighting while the natural caverns do not.
For this I usually make the whole map dark, then place torches on the light layer in any place you want lit for outdoors.  Change the brightness emitted as needed, and place not in direct line of sight of any openings that are supposed to be dark.  As long as you have walls up that block light, this should work for you.
