I’m looking for 1–2 more players for an ongoing Pathfinder 1e campaign that is heavily homebrewed but built around the bones, atmosphere, and general style of Giantslayer . This is a long-term adventure built around dangerous wilderness, exploration, tracking, investigation, combat, survival, memorable NPCs, and a much larger story gradually unfolding around the characters. The world reacts to what the party does, and your decisions matter. I’m not interested in simply rushing everyone from encounter to encounter. I want you to remember the places you’ve traveled through, the people you’ve met, and the things your character has survived.
HERE’S THE PART THAT MAY SCARE SOME PEOPLE OFF…
We do NOT use voice. We do NOT use video.
Everything is played through Roll20 chat.
Yep. Old-school online gaming.
Before Discord voice channels and webcams became practically mandatory, people actually sat down, typed what their characters said and did, rolled the dice, and let their imaginations do the heavy lifting. That’s exactly what we’re doing.
Does that sound a little cheesy in 2026?
Maybe.
But give this campaign a chance and that cheese might turn out to be a damn fine piece of aged cheddar.
The advantage is IMMERSION . Descriptions matter in this game. When you’re standing in knee-high prairie grass listening to something moving beyond the trees, I want you wondering what’s out there. When smoke is hanging over the remains of something terrible, I want you to practically smell it. When you’re exhausted, miles from safety and following tracks that are getting fresher by the hour, I want you thinking like your character—not staring at six faces on a webcam.
Because it’s text-based, nobody has to be an actor. Nobody has to do voices. You don’t have to worry about talking over another player. You have a moment to actually think about what your character would say or do before responding. The written chat also becomes a running record of the adventure—almost like we’re writing the story of the campaign as we play it.
Combat is still Pathfinder 1e . We use Roll20 maps, tokens, character sheets, macros and dice. There are house rules, but I’ll explain those before you join. The campaign can be dangerous, and I’m not looking to remove consequences just because somebody made a bad decision or the dice turned against them.
The current game is intentionally kept small. I’m looking for 1–2 players , not another six-person party. I’d rather have a few dependable players who become invested in their characters and the world than fill seats just to fill them.
You don’t need to know Giantslayer, This campaign has enough homebrew material that knowing Giantslayer wouldn’t tell you everything anyway, but discovering the world at the table is part of the fun.
If you’re interested but aren’t sure about playing completely through chat, take the risk. Give it a session or two and see how it feels. You might discover why some of us still love playing this way.
Core races. Core classes. Pathfinder 1e. Roll20. Text/chat only.
