I think a quality of life addition to roll20 servers could be adding a way to group players in almost a "roles" fashion so that when I want to show a handout to 5 or 6 or even 10 players but not "show everyone" I could group the current party and click the group, allowing only the selected players in the group to have access to that handout. ~ This would assist with continuous servers - Mine, for example, is one that I pick up players and continuously run. If I "show all" or share to everyone a handout, the new players coming in have access to things they shouldn't have access to. Currently, when my party "unlocks" or receives a handout specific to where they are in the story or what they have come across, stopping to click edit, click on each individual player's name, then saving, then clicking share takes up unnecessary time and creates a pause in DM-ing that could be avoided with this simple fix. ~ This would create a cleaner Journal on the DM's side; as I mentioned before, many dots get cluttered, but if there were two dots, one for party A, and one for party C, I could quickly gather the party (party B) that doesn't have access to this information making things run smoother when I do repeated campaigns with new party members. ~ This small change could also affect when party members chronically split up, as well as joined backstories and joined findings. If only certain parts of the party continuously get their own information, instead of chronically assigning them individually, you could make them a group and share the handout with just that group of players. ~ The players currently can assign their color at the bottom, which in turn assigns the color of their dots when only they have access to a handout or sheet. This change would allow the DM to assign a color to that individual "group" of players. Less dots, and options for color coordination and organization. Furthermore, I think also making the "dots" that show who (or what group) has access to the handout to the top of the Handout with the Title / Name of the handout could give more space for those dots to exist without cluttering the wording of the Handout and the Journal. If we did this, I would also vote that we lessen the space in the Journal these "dots" take up, as I find sometimes they cover words and I'm sure I am not alone with the issue of a large Journal containing a lot of handouts that I can get lost in. I hope I am not alone in this, and I look forward to all the great changes Roll20 is constantly making! Thank you for your time.
