Critical Customizations

▲ Score + 1
I would love to see Roll20 introduce more flexibility when it comes to customizing critical hits, particularly for homebrew campaigns and characters with abilities that modify critical hit mechanics. Ideally, players and DMs should be able to customize the following: Critical Hit Range: Allow users to set custom critical hit ranges (such as 19–20, 18–20, or even 15–20) instead of being restricted to the default natural 20. Critical Hit Damage: Allow customization of how critical damage is calculated, including damage multipliers (×2, ×3, ×4), additional damage dice, or custom formulas. Character-Wide Settings: Allow players to establish default critical hit ranges and damage calculations that automatically apply to all attacks made by their character. Weapon-Specific Settings: Allow individual weapons and attacks to have their own critical hit ranges and damage calculations, overriding the character-wide defaults. Temporary Modifiers: Ideally, allow effects, buffs, and abilities to temporarily modify critical hit ranges or damage without requiring users to manually edit their attacks.

A. You need to specify which character sheet you're referencing, there are thousands. B. If you're talking about the official D&D 5e sheets, their licensing likely restricts them from going too far away from official rules.
I’m referring specifically to the official D&D 5e character sheets. Roll20 already provides extensive support for homebrew content and allows players to customize nearly every aspect of their characters, including abilities, attacks, damage, custom spells, extra spell slots, etc. However, critical hit damage and ranges remain one of the few things that cannot be easily customized.  Given how much flexibility Roll20 already offers for homebrew rules, I don't see why critical hits should be an exception. Even official D&D 5e has abilities that expand critical hit ranges and damge, so this wouldn't necessarily be departing from the official rules. Another issue I've noticed with the updated D&D character sheets is how critical hit damage is handled. While it is technically possible to customize critical damage, the system is very finicky and often doesn't work as intended. The sheets also automatically roll critical damage, which makes implementing alternative critical hit mechanics unnecessarily complicated. there is still no straightforward way of customising crit ranges for weapons. My suggestion is simply to improve and expand the customization options Roll20 already provides.
