After dispatching Squire Timeon, the party continued exploring the Nine Lessons. The next room they came to held a small pedestal with a silver and sapphire pendant on it. Suspecting an obvious trap, Tek was able to remove the pendant and note that it was cheap work and the sapphires were fake. The party was also able to detect and trigger the trap with no harm to themselves. Continuing southwards, they found a darkened room, and Riss's animal senses and knowledge of nature allowed him to identify a shrieker (a giant mushroom that screams when exposed to light or nearby motion). Efforts to pass through the room without triggering the shrieker failed, however, and the noise attracted several zombies from the next room. Fortunately, they were not a tough opponent, and Sandra's mastery of undead helped dispatch them quickly. The next room contained the zombies' coffins and four other bodies in coffins, which Sandra quickly turned into minions. And a good thing too, since the next room held Timeon's master, the dragonborn Knight of the Alerion Sir Baran. Sensing evil, the knight attacked almost immediately, aided by his mirrored shield, which reflected some attacks against him, and the arrival of a familiar-looking angel who healed and strengthened him. However, the skeletal minions, and a transformed Riss, held Baran long enough for Korabb to deal the killing blow with a cascade of evil spirits.
