Inter-session bookkeeping notes

I don't want to skip signing the contract for those of you who haven't already posted in the RP thread. However, there are a couple bits of bookkeeping that should ideally be handled before Saturday, in order to avoid wasting game time on too much rules finagling and looking-up of stuff. So: Once the contract situation is resolved, you may all advance to 2nd level. You will have three days of downtime in the manor. During this time Tiadora will approach you to determine what you need in the way of equipment, and it will be provided to you. Essentially, this means you can purchase up to 150 gp of equipment (including magic potions, oils, and runes, should you so desire). If you want anything unusual and/or not covered on the equipment lists, ask and I will let you know. Tek will be provided with a basic but serviceable spellbook so he can re-memorize his spells. Vinha will be able to completely bond with her spider during this time, enabling her to use it for her Ranger's Pet talent. There will also be a few other gifts from the cardinal, but we can handle those later.
Thanks for the update :)
I've updated Sandra's character sheet with the new equipment and level up. Equipment-wise, she's got a spear, a short-sword, a health potion, and some light chainmail. She'd also try to hit up the Cardinal sometime in the next few days to see if he's willing to share anything he might know about necromancy. If those secrets are reserved for Asmodeus' priests, then she understands and doesn't press the issue. She's amenable to the idea of taking up worship of the Lord of Hell, after all. On the sly, she'd be spending some time with Grumblejack. Monstrous humanoids are something of a rarity on Talingarde and she's primarily interested if he's got any ties to the few remaining ogres or other monsters out there. She's hoping he could introduce her to such monsters, if they exist and if he knows about them. Friend of a friend and all that. If Grumblejack is just some random thug then she's planning on drugging him, killing him, and raising him as a skeletal minion, barring no objections from her fellow Bound. I'm mostly looking to Riss here, as he seemed to be the friendliest towards Grumblejack. Tiadora's bound to have something to knock him out and I'm sure she'd be glad to have the big guy out of the way. Sandra would hold off on doing the deed if he's got any lasting injuries from their escape, cracked or broken bones specifically. I'm hoping the healing potion took care of most of that, but I imagine bones heal stronger when they're still in a living body.

If Sandra talks to Riss about it, he'd eventually explain his upbringing in the savage north with orcs, and how ogres were a bit less uncommon. I'll update Riss' sheet with equipment and such soon. It may have to be once I'm back home, but I'm missing this next session anyway so it probably won't be an issue.
I've completed my character sheet, on the understanding that he's going to change the contract and I'm going to sign it. The only item not on the list were the "wicked big knives" which are in the same category as short sword, hand axe, and mace. The prices for those were 3gp, 4gp, and 5gp, so I went with 4gp. If you want me to change it, I can, and then I'll just update the number of bullets, if necessary. By the way, I ended up getting the actual book (PDF), which helped a lot. It seems that as a ranger, I can use Dex instead of Str for melee attack rolls. I didn't see that on the rsd, but it was mentioned twice in the actual book. Also, I keep forgetting to use my Lethal Hunter talent. Hopefully, I'll remember it this game!
Hi folks. Just a reminder that we're scheduled to play this Saturday, although Vorona won't be able to join us from what I understand. Let me know if anyone else can't make it.
Right. I won't be there. And I feel bad that I haven't posted the session summary. I'll do that now, before I have to leave. Have fun everyone!
By the way, if it comes down to torture, would it be int+background? Because if so, my arena fighting background could tell me where you fleshies most painful spots are. Then with my cantrip mastery and feat from it, i can use a cantrip version of acid arrow, which does no damage, but will definately hurt. Correct me if ANY of my points are wrong please :)
Thanks for a good game Saturday night. I was a little worried over whether I'd made Sir Baran too easy or too hard, but I think he worked out all right -- maybe a bit easier than I'd expected but if the dice had gone the other way, things could have gotten a lot nastier. In any case, next game is scheduled for December 6th. We may do some RP/bookkeeping in the forum to keep things moving along. Alex, please let us know if you're still with us. If I don't hear from you I'm going to have to start looking for a replacement for Korabb.
I thought it was a good session, and I think having those zombies/skeletons to block him for several turns sort of made the difference in that fight.
Hey guys, sorry for the blackout. I think you should probably find someone else. I just got a new job and then I will be unable to play for a few weeks around the turn of the year. I really enjoyed my few sessions and good luck to everyone.
That's a shame. Not the new job, I mean. Congrats on that!
Thanks for letting us know, Alex.
I have two players who have expressed interest in taking the open seat at the table, and I will hopefully be able to decide by tomorrow morning -- still waiting on one to provide a character concept.
As a result of Cardinal Thorn's training, you may take one incremental advance. (Remember to note that this benefit is incremental; you are not locked into your choice, and you can change it when you actually level up.) You may also choose ONE of the following benefits. Deception is a tool. Master it: Gain a background related to deception at 2, or add 2 to such a background that you already have. Fear nothing save our dread lord: Your HP are always considered 10 points higher per tier for the purpose of being affected by fear. Focus strengthens your will: Once per battle, when an enemy hits you with an attack that targets MD, you may force it to reroll and use the lower of the two rolls. Quiet as death: Gain a background related to stealth at 2, or add 2 to such a background that you already have. Strike first, strike ruthlessly, and thus be victorious: Gain +1 to initiative. Swift-sure bringer of death to beggar and king: Gain a background related to poisons at 2, or add 2 to such a background that you already have. Take joy in the suffering of your enemies: Once per battle, if you hit an enemy, you may immediately rally as a free action; you do not need to make a save even if you have already used a rally in this battle. You shall be an angel slayer: When fighting an angel, archon, or other good extraplanar creature, or a metallic dragon, once per battle you can bump the dice you roll for damage up one size. Remember hurts and do not forgive: Once per battle, when an enemy's attack leaves you staggered, you can immediately make a basic attack against that enemy as a free action. You can do this even if the attack drops you to 0 HP.
I'm taking focus strengthens your will, and for my incremental advance, crescendo.
We have a replacement player -- Alex B. will be taking Alex C.'s place. Maybe if we work and study hard, some day we can get up to Alex A+.
Great news! As for choices: Of these: Swift-sure bringer of death to beggar and king (adding +2 to Poisoner background) Incremental advance: Ranger's Pet -- 3 abilities instead of 2, third = Counterbite
Take joy in the suffering of your enemies and the Behemoth Aspect feat, please.
So Incremental Advances are like gaining half a level? I can get behind that. I'll take the HP increase and Fear nothing save our dread lord. After Sandra's disastrous encounter with the angel, I'd like to imagine her training with the Cardinal would center around further deadening her nerves and steeling her heart against the foes they might encounter.
I'm sorry! I had a million things going on and it just slipped my mind. I guess Tek was in autopilot.
We got through quite a bit on Saturday -- a feast, an infernal ritual, a sea voyage, a barbarian camp, a murderous plot, and plans to break a castle. Right now we're thinking of the 20th for the next game, although Ryan has already said he can't make it. Is there anyone else who has a problem with that date?
It was a good session.
I don't have any issues with the 20th, sounds like a good day to break a castle to me.
The 20th works fine for me!
Unfortunately, it's looking as if I'll have to cancel the 20th for two reasons, one positive and one not. First, I've gotten an early Christmas present -- tickets to see my Eagles beat the Washington Ethnic Slurs on the afternoon of the 20th (I hope.) Probably won't be back in time for the game. Second, I've been laid up the last week with tennis elbow. (This entire post was typed using my left hand. Cab yiy tell?) Spending time with a mouse and keyboard is most definitely contraindicated for a while. I may be available on the 27th. Further details as events warrant.
Yeesh, hope the game helps take your mind off the injury.
Take care of yourself and enjoy the game!
The game was fun, although regrettably the wrong people won. And my arm is improving, but it's still difficult for me to type/mouse for more than half an hour straight before bad things start happening in my forearm. Given holiday travel and all, I think the 27th is out. How does January 3rd sound for a resumption?
January 3rd works fine for me.
I'm in for the 3rd.
And I missed the 3rd. I'm sorry about that. Personal issues came up that kept me out of contact for most of the night.
S'okay. We're just getting started with the infiltration of Aldencross. Next game should be the 17th.
We failed to achieve a quorum tonight, so no game. Apologies to those who showed up. Who's available for February 7? February 14 is, of course, Valentine's Day, so some of us might have more important stuff to do than pretending to be an elf.
Sorry all, said I could show up and then I went and forgot. Next week should work.
Unfortunately, I have to cancel the 7th. I've just been told that a family birthday celebration that was originally on the 15th has been moved to the 7th. So there's that. How about the 21st?
The 21st works fine for me!
The 21st is a good date for me as well.
I can do that
Just as a reminder, we're still on for Saturday night at 8. Hope to see you there.
Looking forward to it!
Currently crawling up the Beltway in the thick of a snowstorm and traffic jam. Very much hoping I can make it back by game time.
Just a heads up: I've been really sick the last few days. It seems to be getting better (yay!), but if I'm wrong, I might be rather muddleheaded and if I get too tired (the main symptom, actually), I might have to leave early. I'm also drinking a lot of water while up, so I might need to go to the bathroom more often than normal.
Question: When is our next game?
Let's plan for next Saturday, the 14th.
Works for me. Thanks!
Good, I almost thought I was about to miss a game today. Haha
Hello, I 'm terrible and missed the last one because I was still in the 'every 2 weeks' mentality. I'll also be gone the 14th, so will miss that one.
Hey all, something came up in life and I won't be able to make it tonight. Sorry about this, but I will definitely be able to play next game.
I'm sorry -- I've been throwing up and having diarrhea for the last 15 minutes, so I'm out as well.
Sorry to hear that, hope you feel better. With only 2 of 5 able to show up tonight, I guess we might as well scrap it and plan for a later date. I'll have to figure out if I can do next week.
