Hello all, I'm running a campaign in the vein of Ben Robbins west march using my homebrew old school style DnD system called grim dark fantasy ( http://arsludi.lamemage.com/index.php/78/grand-ex... for those unfamiliar) Unfortunitly my IRL friends group is a little small to fill out the roster with regular players so I'm posting here to see if there is any interest in trying anything completely different from standard pathfinder/modern d&d fare. The game is an exploration and dark fantasy horror game and contains mature/serious themes as a heads up. (Posting from phone apologies for grammar or spelling errors)
This seems like a very interesting idea. I love the old school sandbox games. My only concern is when are you thinking about running the game (Time, date, day, etc)?

The way the West March style game works is I post my work schedule for the week on the campaign forum and then the players work together to make parties that can fit into my free time. I try and run 2-3 sessions a week. This means that depending on my work schedule (which is extremely erratic) I can run weekdays or weekends. I live in Alberta, so the only time I wont ever be willing to run games is from 2am-6am Mountain Time (UTC-6). Most common play times tend to be around 630-1130 Mountain time, but on my days off I'm happy to run morning game as well. Final note is that I put 4 hours as the hard minimum for session length as most of the people I play with take the better part of an hour to get settled down plus we mostly use transit so a late shuttle or two on the way home from work doesn't mean we don't get to play. Obviously the ideal is we start on time to the minute but crap happens and I prefer to account for it before hand.
As I said before, this sounds like an excellent idea for a game but I'm not sure how good I'd be with a flexible schedule. Sleep is something that eludes me, a lot of the time, so I'm up at odd hours. It would be nice to have something to do during the night. Count me in! World building and exploration are things I really enjoy doing especially when they lead to deeper mysteries. If you'll have me that is.
I'd be interested. I ran a West Marches inspired game for a while a few years back as my first foray into old school gaming (and I'm happy to share stories of my discoveries and pitfalls). I'd love to give one a shot from the other side of the screen.
