Couple of newbish questions. Some trivial, some not.

OK, so I have developed a few questions, in my short time on here. (a) Why has the idea to be able to search specific forums, AKA "Suggestions & Ideas", only? I know I can't post (yet) but it would be nice to make sure that an idea I would like has not been turned down and a reason given. When I search I get everything from all forums and wiki . (b) I understand that different accounts have different storage and campaign sharing capabilities, but from within a campaign I would like to reuse some images (maps pieces), can I do this, how? (c) I have learned that macros can only interact with the 3 bars, an API has to be created to interact with anything else on the character sheet. Is there any known intention of Roll20 modifying this? Is there a current script that is easily modified to allow modification of the character sheet from a macro? (d) Last question, I think. Why has it not been requested to have more layers, even if the option is tied to supporter/mentor accounts? I am a fan of character hideouts, but it would just be easier to give control of a layer to a player. Thank you for taking the time to read this. If any of these are not implemented and seem like a good idea, feel free to post the idea to "Suggestions & Ideas". All critiques and comments are welcome.

Hi Josh. Welcome. I'll try to help on some of these questions, the ones I know about. (a) There is a Suggestion for ability to search individual sub-forums. In the meantime I recommend putting the word "Suggestions" in your search, (such as perhaps "Suggestions Tokens" for a search), then most of the search results will be from that forum. (b) As GM you can select an object and Copy it (either hit Control-C on keyboard, or right click and choose Copy). Then go to another place on the map, or another map page, put your pointer somewhere on the page and Paste. (c) & (d) I'm not sure of the answers. Hopefully someone else will come along to respond.

Is there any known intention of Roll20 modifying this? Is there a current script that is easily modified to allow modification of the character sheet from a macro? Macros can access the value of any attribute on a character sheet, plus a few additional values such as character name, token name, token id, values for the three bars, and so on. The API (the campaign creator must be a Mentor in order for the API to be available) can both access and modify the value of pretty much anything on a character or token. Aaron's TokenMod script is one example. Josh C. said: (d) Last question, I think. Why has it not been requested to have more layers, even if the option is tied to supporter/mentor accounts? I am a fan of character hideouts, but it would just be easier to give control of a layer to a player. It has been requested. I know the suggestion forum contains at least a suggestion for a "weather" layer, and there may be other suggestions in a similar vein besides. It was often requested in the old (now-archived) suggestions forum, as well.

(a) the best way to know if a particular idea is in the suggestions forum is to read the suggestions. It is very likely that you would not use the same term for something that someone else uses. Even if you do, a search might give you the wrong idea of it hit on a particular word or phrase out of context. Search would be useful for sure, but no substitute for reading! :) (b) I'll add that you can click the star on the library tab to bring up your personal library of all the art assets you've uploaded or purchased. You can then drag them into the VTT. (c) Steve has stated that they have no intention of expanding the macro system to include automation as you describe, that the API is their offering in that space. As to scripts that can be easily modified for those purposes, there are at least two that people commonly do that with currently. (d) more layers is one of the highest ranked suggestions currently in the suggestions forum.
(C) As a DM that currently is running 4E I use the bars to display HP, Surges, THP, for monsters this is mostly just HP. However there is so much more information to keep on hand for my many many monsters. I use macros for this, and the attributes/abilities section of the character sheet, with them being linked to the token. I have all their attacks, and abilities stored in there, but also there stats. I simple have a macro called DEF that displays to me only their defenses, speed, extra bonus, and any resistances. Sometimes other information I don't wanna forget. Here is an example of one: &{template:default} {{name=Monster's Defense}} {{GM Eyes Only}} /w gm AC[[17]] Fort[[15]] Ref[[13]] Will[[12]] Spd[[6]] /w gm +[[2]] AC if adjacent to another Hobgoblin Not sure if this helps, but it makes it so you can store information for your guy and quickly reference it.

(d) Followup. Brian and The Aaron rightly said, there are popular Suggestions for more Layers on the Suggestions forum. However I haven't seen those suggestions asking for one detail that Josh said, "it would just be easier to give control of a layer to a player ". The existing Suggestions for Layers are for the GM (mainly to put a foreground layer for clouds, rooftops, treetops... though some other uses and layers have been suggested too). Josh, what would it mean to give a player control there? Here is the leading Suggestion regarding Layers, Foreground Map Layer <a href="https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/1241955/foregrou" rel="nofollow">https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/1241955/foregrou</a>...

Wow, again thank you all for your responses. The expediency is definitely a perk (a) SOLVED yeah, had I actually searched for that with appropriate terms I'd have found it. To me it is just good UI and app development for search. (b) I have found the ctrl-c command, but in test builds I don't always remember where/which map it is on. The Aaron brings up an option I have not figured out how to access, a link to something that describes what you say would be useful. I can't locate a context menu for a map piece, let alone a star option. (c) Brian, TokenMod Script, noted. The Aaron, the name of the other script? (d) Considering the usefulness of additional layers, I see a handful of assignable properties being equally useful for user created layers. The table that follows are the variables I believe would be required by the posts I read and my thoughts, thanks to Gold's search suggestion. Now to make this enticing for Roll20, a free/base account gets the 3 current layers and maybe one extra "programmable" layer, Supporter gets 2 or 3 additional, Mentor 4 to (reasonable technical limit) additional. This way they are not giving away free features. I want Roll20 to thrive, and they need incentives to make people buy. That is an interesting Table you filled-in for your idea regarding multiple layers. While you may not have a Vote on your account yet, I think you can still post that as a Comment in an existing Suggestion thread that's directly related (the leading suggestion about Layers).

Double checking. Nope. Where the post topic button would be stands a fat button that says "Must Have Available Votes to Post Topic" heh heh, had to re-read your post to get it. But similar deal. At the bottom of the page where the post box is sits a label that says "You can only post comments in this forum category if you are eligible to vote."
I hope you don't mind Josh, I've posted your table/comment on the relevant thread since it's one I have a vote assigned to.
