Group certain macros yet pick before rolling.

Heya, So I've been looking into advancing my macros and making the gameplay overall feel smoother and faster, with less time searching for the right one. Now I'm struggling a bit as my coding knowledge is limited; Basically, what I want to do (with a D&D 3.5 game) is (as a player) group the following skills up: Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate and Sense-Motive and have the macro button labelled as say, Speechcraft or something that's easier to find. (The same I could then translate to attack rolls and damage rolls, misc skills and so forth) Yet, I want to pick which one it rolls as I use it. (Either through typing the skill in a pop-up-window or selecting it from some kind of menu?) So instead of rolling all the dice for 4 skills (and showing all 4), I want to hit the macro button, pick the skill I want to roll for and have it roll just that single dice with the label of that skill. (the /em rolls a Diplomacy check. idea) How may one accomplish this? Is this possible? Thanks in advance!

One option is to use GenKitty's disabling technique: ?{Bluff?|!} Bluff: [[1d20+3]] ?{Diplomacy?|!} Diplomacy: [[1d20+1]] ... Running something like that will prompt you with "Bluff?" and "Diplomacy?" If you want to use a skill, you hit the space bar before hitting enter, otherwise you just hit enter. The ! on the front of the line causes the command to be interpreted as an API command (which does nothing in this case), which prevents it from being shown (and 3d Dice don't get rolled).
Awesome. :D That works! Thank you. ^.^ It gives an idea of how to work with those prompts. I'd like for the entire dice roll to be revealed instead of just the result but other then that, I like it! I'll try tinkering with it a bit. Edit: I think I got it how I want it! Thank you so much. ^^ I ended up settling at: ?{Bluff?|!} /roll 1d20+3 /em : Bluff check: ?{Diplomacy?|!} /roll 1d20+1 /em : Diplomacy check ...

... That sort of macro shouldn't do what it is you want. For this to work, you have to do each skill roll all on one line. Like such: ?{Bluff?|!} /me rolls for Bluff: [[1d20+3]] ?{Diplomacy?|!} /me rolls for Diplomacy: [[1d20+1]]
.. It indeed seemed to give some issues, I think I cheered too soon. I appreciate the help! Checking it out now. :D Hrm, I may be thinking too complicated or something; The above seems to work but again, only posts the result and I prefer seeing the full dice roll. The /em line added the neat orange bar separating stating what my roll did at the bottom which helps during moments a lot of other players roll. I'll tinker on though suggestions remain welcome. ^^

You can mouseover the dice result to see what was rolled. If your GM has a mentor-level subscription, you could use the Powercards script and the [XPND] option to show the dice roll breakdown as well. To use my macro setup and still see the dice in the chat pane, you'd do: ?{Bluff?|!} /roll 1d20+3 [Bluff] ?{Diplomacy?|!} /roll 1d20+1 [Diplomacy] I never think to use /roll because i find it so unghodly spammy, I break out in mental hives when i see /roll being used in macros. But to each their own :>
