LUG Con?

LUG Con Why am I just hearing about this by word of mouth today? I figured a weekend online gaming convention using roll20 and google hangouts would be plastered all over the place. I haven't seen anything under looking for games or well anywhere in the forums about this. Am I just blind or something? Is this not as big as I think it is? This sounds like a wonderful idea. I don't get to go to regular conventions often, this event sounds perfect.
We've been posting about it via social media quite a bit, and even did anOrr Group Pidcast discussing it a couple of weeks ago...

Specifically this Podcast - https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/197431/new-public-orr-group-podcast-6-6-slash-12
Yeah sorry I stopped watching those. I just figured there would be forum activity from DM's running LUG con games or just in general more hype about it on this site or other rpg related forums like enworld or rpg.net. It just seems like if you don't use google+ for your social media it was kind of very easy to miss.

I don't use google+ and I haven't had time to listen to podcasts so I guess I won't be gaming any in it.

I think this might be a problem with anything run directly out of Google+. It's not nearly prolific as say Twitter or Facebook, so its pretty insular if you decide to run something like an online convention exclusively through that social medium. For instance, L.U.G. Con doesn't have a website, it runs directly out of a Google+ group . ConTessa , which is next weekend, is using a website to coordinate online games and panels, so that's a bit easier to navigate.
Yeah I have missed any word of ConTessa too. I have been looking to try and find more female players for my games or join a game run by a female GM. In real life there is almost always a woman or two at the gaming table and their presence changes the group dynamic for the better, ie raises the quality of role playing done most of the time. Thanks for pointing this out, Kristin C.

You're welcome, John! :)
For those interested, the LUG CON panel I'm on tomorrow is here: https://plus.google.com/u/0/events/cg9tmme4vba4q2httb952b0p41o
I know that Roll20.net primary purpose is a virtual tabletop environment, but I'd love to see some more advanced social networking and search functions so people could find out about (or advertise) games, conventions, and the like... Heck I couldn't even find the modules when they first came out (they still are not advertised in the Marketplace FYI, the only time you see them is when you create a campaign). I feel like the Looking for Group tool and forums are inadequate and there is no place at all to advertise for a convention like LUG or Contessa. I hope that Roll20 will consider improving search and social networking for this site in the future. I believe it will make this site truly the best place for tabletop RPG'ers on the internet.

I never even tried to carve any time out for LUG due to not having enough notice. I just got an email about Aethercon being held again this year. Lets hope the bugs are worked out mostly now.
LUG Con is happening again September 20-22, 2013. It is being run on Google+ using hangouts but there is a website coming soon to help pull things together. Keep posted on www.lugcon.com or google+ community (found here https://plus.google.com/u/0/communities/105035308890059387940 ) Have a great summer!
