Character representation issue

Is there a way to ensure that when a character is dragged from the Journal it automatically represents that character? In the current setting I can't seem to find a way to do that, and having to go through the motions of dragging and assigning characters every single time consumes more time than I would like it to.

There certainly is, please see this page of the wiki on Token Features, specifically the section on token settings. The key information to take from this is that you need to make sure you have completely set up your tokens before setting them as a default token on a character sheet as updating the token afterwards will not update the default token unless you remove and re-add it.
