How about blocking any thread that begins with {{ and putting some kind of limit on when a new account can start posting?

Perhaps also establish a set amount of time which must pass before an account can post multiple messages in the forums. Only a couple of minutes should be adequate. Legitimate forum users almost certainly will not need to post messages more frequently than that, but it would greatly frustrate these spammers.
