EMPIRE ABOVE (HOMEBREW PATHFINDER CAMPAIGN) LFM

Hello everyone, Judenaia (JÜ-de-NAI-uh) is a city of the Empire Above—a series of eight floating islands ruled by the Mother of All Sorcerers. The Empire’s industrial capital, Judenaia is a place where golems and magic blades are crafted wholesale, and where pollution takes on an arcane form. A splice in the fabric of the cosmos provides sustenance to the entire city from the Plane of Water. This void has created a lush environment for the city of Judenaia and its inhabitants. In addition to humans, planetouched, and a few residents of monstrous blood, Judenaia contains a large population of kobolds. Draconic blood makes them take well to spellcraft, and they are the principle demographic of Judenaia’s working class. They live in caves and hammocks beneath Judenaia, staying out of the city’s way when not at work. Sixty years have passed since the Efreet War united forces across the Empire together, and the ensuing peace has helped the Empire's islands to proliferate. Recently, the soaring population has led many islands to establish extra dimensional homes to abate mounting capacity concerns. While the Empire's wizards are occupied with urban expansion planning, the Empirical magistrate has prohibitted all immigration from the continental mainland or "The Lands Below." Tension is rising once again, but this time factionalism threatens to plunge the Empire Above into conflagaration. The government and military still hold order under the authority of the Mother, but for how long? Few have ever seen the Mother, yet some believe she disguisedly walks the streets of the Empire, observing and patiently waiting. Others maintain she died in the Efreet War. Despite the difference of opinions, reality shows that the Mother's spectral grip on the kingdom is fading, and Judenaia lies in the epicenter of this movement. Players, welcome to the Empire Above! (<a href="http://www.epicwords.com/campaigns/2560" rel="nofollow">http://www.epicwords.com/campaigns/2560</a>) I'm currently looking to fill 2 more spots in this weekly homebrew pathfinder campaign. We will be playing Saturday 12 PM - 5 PM EST. Party is looking for a leader class and one other utility. Players need not apply if they cannot reliably make the scheduled sessions. Experience (especially with Pathfinder) is preferred, but not a requirement. If you are interested, please confirm your availability and message me with a time to chat once you have a character concept complete. Details are: -15 standard point buy -Level 1 -Roll honestly for gold -Attempt to stick to core races and classes, but I am happy to allow most material Paizo created so long as it is discussed with me in advance. Happy Huntings! -Brett
I'm definitely interested. I've got some experience with 3.5 and pathfinder, but still might need help with the rules from time to time. I do have a few questions though: -What is the current PC roster? -What is roughly the ratio of combat vs. roleplay that you aim for? -How long will this campagin be?
Hi Marko, Thank you for your interest, and like I mentioned, there's no need to be an expert. To answer your questions: 1. PC roster isn't completely finalized, but currently, the party consists of a dwarf fighter (very tanky), a human monk (which might be changing to a kobold something or other), a tiefling magus, and an elf conjurer. 2. I would hesistate to give a fixed ratio because over the course of a campaign there will be sessions with 0 fighting and some sessions devoted entirely to an epic showdown. However, I assure you that the extremes are rare within my campaign, which will be some mixture of the two. I let my players direct the campaign and sometimes make the decision of when to fight and when not to, so I turn the question around to you. What ratio of combat vs. roleplay would you like to see in the campaign? 3. This has not been completely set in stone, but I would like to run it from levels 1-10. It's hard to say how long this will take, but I would say that ending by mid-December sounds right. Interest will be likely gauged halfway through to see what everyone is looking for in terms of conclusion (so if players cannot commit to the whole time, then a few reserves may take their spots as regulars to begin a second portion of the campaign). Hope this helps, and if you are still interested, I can chat tonight around 8 PM EST. -Brett
Ok well my worries are gone now. Although I still need to make sure that I'm available, I'm very interested.
Still looking for players.
I will join, if I may. I am well versed in many versions of D20 games and is my preferred system to play with, Pathfinder and CoCd20 in particular. I have DM'd many times before so no help is needed on my part for learning the rules, unless of course you've added homebrew rules which im sure cant be that hard to pick up on. You can Skype me if that makes it easier, what with roll20 being a little clunky as it is still in beta. My Skype name is Scuzzoman, you may contact me whenever you can.
Well met, Chris, and excellent news! I will log on tonight between 6-8 PM EST when I get a few minutes to chat. Shouldn't take long. Rules are the same as you know, so nothing should come as much of a surprise.
Good chatting with you Chris. Check your messages for campaign info.
Hey. Your homebrew setting sounds SO cool >.<! I would love to play and have been dying to check out PF. I have some of the books but haven't played yet due to lack of group =/ The schedule works for me. If you still need anyone, please let me know and I'll throw together a character or something.
Hey Sitrein, Thank you for your interest! Roll up a character (see details above), and send it my way. Once you've done that, then we'll sync up about scheduling, character background, and your play preferences. If you come up with something that you've always wanted to play, but it may be a little bizarre, then please let me know. We might be able to work something out. Sound good?
Awesome. I'll work on that tonight. You're looking for a leader/utility still, right? When you say leader, how do you mean? Tank? Social face of the party? Moral compass? Or really open to interpretation? Also, when you say utitlity, do you mean general utility or skill monkey? Also, would it be alright to reach out to the advanced race guide/player guide? I probably won't use the race one (but it's pretty), however the apg has some REALLY shiny things in it >.<
Yes, leader/utility would not be bad, but I think the party has shaped up enough to cover a lot of different roles. Make whatever you like, and yes, its definitely alright to reach out to the APG, and possibly, for races too. If anything is too bizarre and you would question it in your campaign, then shoot me a message and we'll chat about it.
So the 2 spots are filled then?
So the 2 spots are filled then? Currently, I have 9 players who want to play. 6 players will be regulars. Since it's hard to say how long some people will consistently show up or even make it to the first session, I am slotting the other interested players as reserves. I encourage everyone to make up a character because you never know when I will need players, and it's not unheard of for me to occasionally ask some guest players to play as rivals. Right now, the 6 regular players are: Rhayve - Tiefling Magus Vikeadin - Dwarf Fighter Viv - Elf Wizard (Conjurer) Zark - Kobold Alchemist (Chirurgeon) Chris Longley - Aasimar Monk (Martial Artist) Warbird108 - Human Druid Reserves: Sitrein - ??? (Will likely substitute in session #1) Marko K - ??? Jeff - Human Oracle In short, the more enthusiasm you show for playing, then the more likely it is that you will be called on to play. Additionally, if I receive enough interest to run two sessions, then I will consider it, but for now, I'm sticking with a party of 6 (which may fluctuate during certain times to allow for more or less players).
Ok, that is reasonable. I'm hoping you do not mistake my late answers for the lack of interest. I had another session on thursday, and the players were planning to make the sessions be twice a week, so naturally I had to make sure this second day wouldnt happen to be saturday. Luckily it didn't, so I'm available. Seeing as I won't be in the next session, I'll have the sheet done next week. Unless you have any special wishes regarding reserves, I'll roll it with the instructions you gave in the OP. (Thinking of bard perhaps)

I do not think you will be needed for the next session, but I haven't confirmed with everyone. I will let you know if anything changes. In any event, I appreciate your understanding and continued interest, and I look forward to seeing your character. Once it is finished, send it my way and I will provide more details.
Sorry it took me so long to make a character. The process took much longer than I expected. I also had a hell of a time finding good generators/sheets that could be used to make the character on so I could send you the data. Here's the link: <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=438502" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=438502</a> Aasimar Oracle of the Heavens. She's very charismatic and smart but rather weak. Socially she does well and comes off as a strong and confident woman but she does have a tendency to avoid conflict in public. This is because she's actually very self-conscious about her Curse of Tongues. I'd want to talk with you before fleshing out her back story too much. I'm also not sure how strict you are with encumbrance rules (none of my previous GMs have ever cared unless you were carrying absurd amounts of stuff) so I tried to keep the weight below my encumbered limit. There are two things on my sheet with "*" next to them. The first is Coat of Many Stars. That's there to remind me that for my Aasimar racial favored class bonus with oracle, I'm treating it as if I were 1/2 a level higher. This level it has no actual effect because 1/2 a level doesn't do anything but next level it'll be as if I were level 3 for the purposes of that revelation (which, actually, still wouldn't do anything yet). The idea is that I'll keep putting points into this as I level in oracle and by level 5 I'll be effectively lvl 7 so I'd get the +6 to armor instead of +4, then every 2-3 levels after that I'd get an additional +2 to armor instead of every 4 levels. The second is Aklo under my languages. This is the language I learn with my Curse of Tongues. While I can speak and understand it normally, when in combat or any period of high stress, I can ONLY speak Aklo. Further, Aklo is the only language I can understand during these times. Edit: Oh, and for my 3d6 oracle gold I rolled 6+1+2 for 90g, in case you were wondering. If you'd rather I roll in front of you for gold, that can be arranged or you can roll and just give me a number.
Aaaand now I see that someone else has an oracle... F***. I guess I'll try and roll something else? Barbarian maybe =x
Thanks Sitrein for getting back to me, and I'm glad to hear you are still interested. I would say keep your oracle, since you are already invested in it and spent time building it out. I also say this because Jeff is 3rd on the list of reserves, and probably the least likely to join in. However, if you wish to switch your character, then by all means, go ahead. I haven't had time to check it out in detail, but I will look at it tomorrow morning and get back to you with any comments. To flesh out the back story, lets chat tomorrow at some point. I'm more likely to be around after 8 PM EST, so if that works for you, then let me know. As far as encumbrance goes, I'm pretty lenient, but only to a point. If a 10 str wizard is looking to carry the entire library in books with him, then it's not happening. But if he wants to carry a two-handed maul back to town because it has significant magical auras around it that he would rather keep private, well I'm not going to penalize him. Catch my drift?
Bah! D= I thought I responded to this! Crap... Well, >.< if you still want to talk... um.. I'll message you with details that should make it easier.
