Drawings to tokens

I am not sure that it is going to be useful for a lot of people, but I would like to be able to turn a drawing into a token. What I mean is that I can draw a "token" on the fly, but whilst I'll be able to drag it and rotate it, and duplicate it, to use in play, but it won't have the bullets for inputing stats or the possibility to add states with color points. I attach two tokens to show what I mean, the blue one with a sword is a token loaded into Roll20, the red one with the axe has been drawn in the program. If I could change the status of the drawing to token, it would be useful to me (and probably for other peoples, I think I saw a post about it, but I didn't think it was possible then, not having experimented enough with Roll20, and I can't find the message now). That's not a very critical improvement, but if possible, I think it could have some uses. Even a cross on the map, that could be used as a token by a GM could be useful sometimes. I have also found that if you group two drawings, then you can not rotate the group. That could be useful if you want to draw a vehicle, for exemple, in more than one stroke.

I remember the thread with that suggestion, it's "Free-Drawing Tokens": <a href="http://community.roll20.net/discussion/comment/6427" rel="nofollow">http://community.roll20.net/discussion/comment/6427</a> Actually the idea of turning drawings into tokens surprised me a bit, and I think that it can be interesting. (Nitpick: for something like this, I'd be more comfortable drawing raster instead vectors without pen pressure sensitivity, but current vectors also work for sketches.)
I am not sure that it would work with raster. I did suppose that the possibility to move/resize/rotate the drawings was a consequence of them being vectors. But I am no programmer, so I may be completely wrong. P.S.: My example above can give the wrong idea that to use a drawing as a token you have to draw it as accurately as possible. It is not true, a simple blob with a spike to show a direction can be drawn by anybody to show positions on the map, if you don't have a "real" token. And you can duplicate them by simple copy/paste.
I realize it's not the internal solution, but GIMP + TokenTool = what you've described. <a href="http://www.gimp.org/" rel="nofollow">http://www.gimp.org/</a> <a href="http://www.rptools.net/index.php?page=tokentool" rel="nofollow">http://www.rptools.net/index.php?page=tokentool</a>
Oh, I use Photoshop to make my usual tokens and I have used Tokentool heavily when I was using portraits-tokens. That's not really what I have in mind here. I don't see turning a drawing into a token as a way to make "normal" tokens. It is probably too "clunky" for it. I think I can have better results in Photoshop. <a href="http://toybox-sw.blogspot.be/2011/03/tokens-are-easy-and-fun.html" rel="nofollow">http://toybox-sw.blogspot.be/2011/03/tokens-are-easy-and-fun.html</a> No, I see this as a way to make very quickly some crude tokens "on the fly", during a game, without having to leave the program. It is an emergency solution if I need something that I have not prepared beforehand.
I was messing around just now and cards (when dragged onto the table) have a setting called "Is Drawing" that's on by default. You can turn that setting off and BAM, it's a token. I couldn't get the same thing to happen with an actual drawing, but maybe your idea is only a line or two of code away. Also, apparently, tokens do this as well (which makes sense).
Turning the drawing into a token would need one more step: it should have the stats and states bullets. Still, I hope that it is not too complicated for the devs to add it. Edit: I just tried, if you take a token (with its bullets for stats and states) and check the "Is drawing" setting, it loses its "tokeness" (I mean, no more bullets). What I would need is the reverse. As you can reverse the process on a token (I mean going back from drawing to token), I suppose my idea shouldn't be impossible.

But I am no programmer, so I may be completely wrong. Maybe, but I think that it makes sense: vectors seem to me more suitable for this suggestion.
