No experience w/ tabletop RPGs besides watching other people play. Looking for a long term weekly or biweekly group. Don't care which game. Available any evenings after 9pm EST. Happy to read, watch videos and learn. I'm easy to get along with. I enjoy playing video games and board games and am into robotics. Do I need books to play these games or is all the info online?  Do I make a character before or after joining a group?  Thanks. 

Hello, thought I'd answer your questions, for the most part, all the games such as DnD, Pathfinder, and Shadowrun have their information in 'player's handbooks' but that information is also open game licensed so its possible to find such game rules online, although its always a lot nicer to be able to work through the game with the true rulebook.  Characters are typically done after getting added to a campaign, although some GMs, including me, like to ask players what kind of character they had in mind before they accept people to get a better idea of the party composition.

You're free to come check out our campaign for a system called Microlite! It's a watered down DnD/Pathfinder so you'll learn the basics and not rush head straight into all the complications of regular DnD and other systems.
