Chatroom for Roll20

I think we need a chatroom, for people to socialize and meet new players and GMs. The best chat option would probably be Chatango. You can host a chat on your site for free, and it's an excellent chat medium. The second option would be IRC; that's been mentioned before, but that's an antiquated chat method.

What does IRC lack that makes it antiquated?

Chatango is more user-friendly and accessible, thus more people will come along, and it also has neat features like avatars and image/colored backgrounds.

IRC is pretty accessible if you have something like mibbit set up. It doesn't have avatars and you can't set a background image, but I'm not sure setting a background image is actually a good thing. On the other hand, you can access an IRC channel from any compatible client, rather than just through the website. Overall, I'm not sure a lack of avatars and backgrounds is enough to call something antiquated. It's old, certainly, but it still works well.

There are connection issues on IRC as well. Some servers won't connect for some people, which would make it difficult to have a web IRC since some people wouldn't be able to connect, maybe. And using a client may be too much trouble for some users.

And using a client may be too much trouble for some users. I've never heard of people being unable to connect. Also, again, mibbit's a client that runs in the webpage, same as any other chat would.

Anyway, if anyone wants to add a chatango chatroom, it would literally take 5-15 minutes of work, and I'm sure something similar is involved with adding IRC.
