[LFP] (5E) Fridays 8PM US East every 2-3 weeks

This is an 21+ group and I am the DM. We try to play every other Friday, but with a small group scheduling is difficult and it only takes one or two absences to scuttle a session. This is why we are looking to add new players to our table. We are a RP-heavy group; when we have combat it is plot-relevant. Meaning we have some sessions without combat, sometimes we have combat for much of a session. Depends on what's happening in the story. We use milestone advancement so PCs gain levels regardless of how much combat there is. The setting is homebrew, but players aren't expected to know everything in advance. General setting information can be found here: http://www.mirovan.com/books/world-mirovan/new-tan... Home base is a city inspired by early Renaissance Venice. Plots tend to be urban and planar in nature. Most recently the party have hunted down an angel-murdering angel, rid the streets of a magic-enhancing drug, and taken an unintended trip to the capital city of Hell and back. At large is still the the half-devil/half-angel they suspect was puppet-mastering the murderous angel, but we are at a place in the story where someone new could drop in without having to study the world or know the history. This game has been ongoing for about a year and I'd like to keep it going indefinitely. If this sounds like the sort of game you'd be interested in, feel free to reply here or message me directly.
Three hard and fast rules: Keep it casual. No whining. No judgies. Other rules: Be helpful whenever possible. Be overly honest. Share your knowledge of fine liquors, if any. Please note - the Roll20 platform doesn't always lend itself to heavy, in-depth character interaction in real time, as in-person gaming might. Our RP tends to be descriptive rather than demonstrative. Still, we have room for characters' personality development. And the Roll20 live video feed from players' cameras helps us to feel better connected. We utilize Google Hangouts for invite and connection at the inception of each game, so that is an addition you might want to make. Interesting characters (in-game and out-) are always welcome. Characters who show timely and good initiative will usually be rewarded in some way. We'll see you in New Tanaska!

I would expand John's comment to include part of my DMing philosophy. I think players should be inventive and take initiative and not be afraid of failing. The story never hinges on a single die roll or a specific predetermined action. So be dramatic, be cinematic, be creative, don't fear death. (Don't think it's off the table -- but we've only had one in the past year.) I would also like to increase the level of immersion in our roleplaying as we become more comfortable with Roll20.
How much ahead of time do you know when you're going to be playing sicne it says every 2-3 weeks in the subject?
It's pretty ad hoc since everybody has RealLife(TM) and we don't always know too far down the road. We keep a forum thread open for scheduling the next month so at any given time we should know the next one to two session dates.
If your still looking for players I'm looking for something very casual and fun. Let me know this sounds like a really good fit for me and I would love to have a good Friday game now and again.
Hi Richard, Thanks for your interest. We're still looking to fill another seat or two. Do you have any thoughts on what sort of character you would be interested in playing? If you have a few moments, check out some of the setting info and drop me a note about what character idea you have and we'll go from there.
I want to second what John H said above; casual, judgment free, no whining. This formula works toward the goal of making every session FUN, above all else. Fifth Edition works well for us because the rules are fairly intuitive for a lot of old gaming hands like us, who want the flavor and the tactics but really just don't have the time to devote to vast amounts of crunch. I don't think there's been a single argument over rules the entire campaign thus far, which is a bigger achievement than it sounds like if my 20+ years of gaming experience are anything to go by. If you want to play an interesting character more than you want to play a powerful character, this is the game for you. We also often chat about whisky (typically what each of us is drinking as we play), so if you enjoy a dram you'll feel right at home.
