Hi! Me and a friend who's moved to the other side of the country intend to keep being rpg-nerds by using this fine service. Problem is, his ISP limits the amount of data you can download every month to 5 GB. I need some response from a dev or other cunning individual on approx. how much data this app consumes per day, week or month, both up and down -stream. Thanks for any help you can provide! /Frej

I cannot provide numbers (I have let the Devs know about your request) but once the campaign is loaded it does not chew up much bandwidth. How much loading takes will depend on the size of the campaign but I am *guessing* it shouldnt be too much for most campaigns. Maybe a few MBs. What will chew up a lot of bandwidth is if you use voice, video, or music. Edit: One of my larger campaigns used about 2,000,000 Bytes while loading (watched my network while loading). - Gauss

Depends on how often and how much graphics/sounds you use. If you keep it mostly text then the usage about the same of using an instant messenger. The exact amount will vary by how often you are using the site, what extras you use (graphics, soundcloud, etc) and any other other stuff.

I recon the loading is in the data thats displayed, images of maps, handouts and tokens. the music, if im guessing right, should not "stream" from my computer, but rather stream from whatever server the music is stored on. The question still remains for the voice and the video-streaming. All in all, roll20 should be rather light on the data side. Thanks for letting the devs know of my question. I'll eagerly await an answer. :)

Roll20 uses https://soundcloud.com/ as the source of music. Voice and Video might depend on which of the several options are available, Tokbox, WebRTC, of Google Hangouts. - Gauss
