[5e Shaped] Sheet question

Can someone help me out how exactly the "Highter Lvl Query" on casting spells works? And about the output option it carries too.  Thanks!
If you have a level 1 spell that does 2d6 damage, and 2d6 more for each slot level above 2nd, you can check "Higher Lvl Query". Then, in Higher level dmg dice  you put the number of dice that you need to add for each level (here 2), and in  Higher level dmg die  you put the die that you need to roll (here d6). Output simply show the level used in the subheader (says something like Level 1 (as 2) if you launch it at 2nd level).
So it doesn't ask the spell slot level you are using and automatically recalculates the damage based on a table; it's the user who needs to add more dices as he level up.   Many thanks!

Spells do not automatically add more damage like they did in PF/3.5. They must use a higher spell level to do so. Therefore I query the user asking if they want to use it in a higher level slot.
