[Pathfinder] Large-scale game looking for more players

A large scale pathfinder game called Realm of Calidor is looking for more players. The game takes place on the continent of Calidor  Players are divided into different factions or nations, and can advance both through fighting monsters/each other or through RP.  I run a kingdom of Valencia , who's main goal is to protect the world from chaos and bring around a golden age.  The game is still actively recruiting and there are a great deal of players currently active. To join the game you may use this link  . To access the game forums you can click on the link that leads to the recruitment for my kingdom, and then pres the home button, to go to the front page. The players start at level 1, with a 25 point buy. The level progression can be rather quick if you so desire. Do come and check out the game, and perhaps join my kingdom, if you so like.

Interesting.   Its a possibility but have to read up on it and that itself is what is probably causing others to avoid this.  This setup only play by post as well?

Its very interesting actually. The game is broken up into weeks. During the week, you can post on the forums and RP your character, expand on your back story, or do diplomacy with other people. During a specific day (that you can setup with the DM), you play your character on this site. You get a certain amount of "movement points" per week, that you use to move on the world map. As you move there, you can encounter monsters that you will fight using this site.  If you are part of my country, I will likely send you on different missions, one of which may be as simple as "go to an area and secure it for our kingdom". This is the mechanic that allows kingdoms to grow: The kingdom sends out a search party to an unclaimed hex on the map, and the party takes it for the kingdom. So while it might have some Play by Post elements, the actual fighting happens on this site. And the best part is that since you schedule the time with the DM, you can fit it around your schedule.  Currently I still need AT LEAST 2 more people for my kingdom, one of which is hopefully a ranger, since they are the ones that enable countries to claim land (conduct scouting missions). I am looking for as many people as possible to join me (or the game in general). If you have any questions, do message me.

I am not a member as I am not big into player vs player in an RPG, however I did find out a bit about it before passing my judgement. There is some play by post, but there are special sessions that your team can schedule where you are matched against another team to take their territory. I am not sure if there are any other situations where you have a DM and adventure, but from what I gathered it starts out as a land grab until you run into another kingdom, and then you have to fight eachother to determine who gets the territories, and if you eliminate all of their territories you eliminate them. Remember I am not a member, so I might be a little off on the details but this is what I gleaned from when I considered joining.

That is a rather accurate assessment, but if you arent into PvP, I am sure there is a way to avoid it. There will always be something to do without resorting to fighting other players. Hunting monsters is still a things, while the rest of the players are killing each other.

I might give it a whirl.   How many traits or drawbacks do characters yet?

If im not mistaken, you get 2 traits for free and one more if you take a drawback with it. If you are looking to acquire better equipment, I am sure I can shift around some kingdom funds for you if needed. Obviously not that much, but every little bit helps at level 1.

I'm semi-interested, I'm just not sure how everything would play out, as well as when sessions would take place.

You can schedule them with DM, whenever it works for you. He is obviously not available 24/7 but hes rather flexible.

Who is the DM?   Plus where is Valencia located on the map?

I need 5 people to found the kingdom. Currently I have 2 not including me. You could help with placement, but currently I am thinking of placing it near that lake with 3 rivers coming out of it and a little forest on the western half of the mainland. As one of the first people to join, theres still alot of different positions to pick from. Starting from being an ambassador to being part of an elite team with extra funding. :D If you look on the game forums, the DM is called High Magistrate Clout.

Interesting.  I'd like to know more, and I'd like to know what could better assist your kingdom / players since I can play any class well. Edit - Looking over your list of applicants it seems you're missing the rogue.  No worries, one class A assassin coming right up!  Besides, your kingdom is all about balance, and what better way to maintain order and balance than with the skills of someone who lurks in the night... Hand crossbow / rapier sounds like fun...

So many skype people. Ok, ill try to contact you all. Also, the game week "resets" on Friday, so if you want to have actions for this week, youll have to make a character and try to schedule with a DM before friday (3PM EST i think)

Hey - would this help to teach a play the ins and out of Pathfinder? I know how to make a character for the most part, but I've never played a full game before. I'm very enthusiastic to join this one, however! Skype's Hashilicious.

Most people RP on the forums ( <a href="http://realmofcalidor.proboards.com/" rel="nofollow">http://realmofcalidor.proboards.com/</a> ) But the actual fights and such are done on roll 20 over voice chat or if you cant voice then the text chat. We have a dedicated Vent server and everyting.

Ill bump this again. Currently Valencia is being attacked by a group of Pirates, and I am holding them off. Should I be able to do it, I will be able to help some of the new players who might want to join Valencia. I am currently level 5, and as per the rules of the game, the xp from the encounter can be divided in any way you want. So I will be able to help some of the newer players in killing some of the tougher monsters.

This sounds remarkably ideal for me. My schedule's all over the place, and I'm more used to play-by-post games. I'll take a look!
