Game day is currently set for Mondays (March 7, 14, 21, 28...). Add to your calendar: The above dates, usual start time 2:05PM Central USA. Time converted for your Time Zone is listed on the campaign details main page. RSVP Regrets Only: Post here if you will be unable to attend, from week to week. Chris is in the process of settling in a new place and work, he has said he will play when he is able. Paul plans to return when his new internet is hooked up. Hans will be letting us know when he can play again. Eddyall and Illusive Manager are contributing on the Dungeon Master design forays for the campaign. The full character roster is written and updated on the main page of the game, just above the forum. In-game outlook: Going back to the typhoon-slogged town of Portlandio The party is heading back to Portlandio, the PC's original meeting-place and home base town. The long journey of Awa Avignon and Winter Sessions successfully concluded, you will soon arrive in Portlandio with a reputation in the name of "The Company Of The Broken Spear" preceding you. Quick small view of the updated Portlandio map. The tan areas are muddy, rebuilding after typhoon attack. Portlandio is a muddy mess as Spring arrives, after snow-melt, still reeling from a typhoon attack on the town. The Company of the Broken Spear returns. The DM created a new Portlandio town map showing the mud-slogged areas of town that are still in the early stages of rebuilding. We will incorporate some world-building and town-urban adventuring here, along with roleplaying opportunities,  mysteries,  sewer monsters,  inn upkeep -- profits, losses, remodeling, renovations, hotel impossible, character development,  storyline revelations, plot hooks,  and exploring motives. After Portlandio will the party adventure on to meet Ota Sura? After Portlandio the party can go on a quest to meet Ota Sura, if you choose this path. This Good half-elven matron and mayor (who possesses ancient knowledge and magical powers, divination and alteration) lives about 120 miles Northeast from Portlandio. She has connections to several members of the party & your associates. She opposes the orc & rock-orc armies. There is a really interesting adventure with some different types of gameplay there, that we haven't tried yet in this campaign. It is roleplay-oriented, along with a mystery, some high magic, and some new settings to confront orcs and Rock Orcs. I think it will be a lot of fun for this group. Players can re-assemble the party from any of the active or benched PC's, XPC's, and allied NPC's and ally-monsters, who are stationed in Portlandio. The Company of the Broken Spear may join the Challengers Of Destiny.

Gold, I will probably be late to Monday's session (about 30-60 minutes). I have to meet with my financial adviser so I can get an IRA contribution in for tax purposes.

Noted, thanks for the heads up, Solid . Look forward to incorporating Baradin , Javan , and even Torvald , once you arrive and join in. Take your time & do what you need to do. Other players we would like to hear if they can get back into playing, ? Chris   ? Hans   ? Paul There's a lot happening in-game this week and this month! Muddy Portlandio town map is prepared and showing for players, along with a new Playlist of music. Listen to that before Monday if you have time.

I hope to be able to make it to tomorrows session, I will certainly be at least an hour late, and may not be able to make it at all. Meetings were scheduled without my input, thus is life... well at least an employed life. On a side note I level up Ampton, he rolled a 2 again on the hit dice, Tymoria must be displeased with the little guy. Also, I added his new skills. He can now ride that little stone horse really well and he has a better chance to improve weapons, and he also is now able to sense direction in planes, all this wandering around in the thin area has allowed him to see how things "interconnect".

Alright, Aepod . Got you covered.  By the way I'm working on some new Extra-Planar material for upcoming in the campaign. Planescapey. Buffing up on my Manual Of The Planes (1e) and Planescape (2e). I like your gnome's new leveled up skills. Funny about those HP's. It is looking like this Monday session will start with as few as 2 Players to drive into Muddy Portlandio:  Larry & Silks , with   Solid  and hopefully Aepod joining later. Naturally, I still want to play and advance the story, taking carpe diem with everyone who is in attendance, so jump in when you can, on that day.
Im back guys!!!!! my original provider never scheduled a tech to do the transfer, i rescheduled just to find out yesterday that that order was somehow canceled..... anyhow, 1 day later with a new and what im told faster provider :) see you guys Monday, ill be on voice early if someone could catch me up a bit, 106 notifications is alot to sort through, and its all this game, its the only one im in anymore lol. Miss you all , and talk Monday

YES!!! Good to hear your news, Paul . Chris is also looking into coming back to the game, if we can switch to Tuesdays, I told him I'd discuss the day with the overall group & I plan to make a poll. Still scheduled on Monday as expected for the upcoming session date, March 21. New Players coming to try out our game, new PC's enter the party's tavern: The Inn has been very popular in Muddy Portlandio's cleanup efforts after the typhoon attack. We decided it is like "the only pizza place still open in that part of town" after the flood waters receded. I'm inviting some new Players in, also. As DM I think it's a good time to. Building a strong player base to make sure the party is substantial even on days when some people need to miss. We played for parts of a recent session with just 2 PC's. So I decided now is a fitting time to introduce new people in the game, because the party is in Portlandio town. We are starting the next adventure journey after a few weeks of in-town roleplaying.   With the PC's currently based out of the party's own Swarg-Inn & Tavern, it's a good time to have some strangers walk into the bar, as if they are customers at The Giant's Beard.  We can roleplay meeting the incoming PC's and interview them in-character to find out who is a good fit for The Challengers of Destiny & The Company of the Broken Spear. Please Welcome the new PC partiers coming into your Inn.

missed you guys too, your my haven from the real world, all of you :D
I have to admit Mondays are hard for me right now.. at least for the past month. I will be late, I hope to be in game by 3pm CST, but I have meetings I cannot skip at 2pm, and an overlapping meeting as well at 2pm, somehow I have to be in 2 meetings at once.

Thanks for letting us know. Got that, Aepod . Just come to the game when you can, after meetings. I'm planning to survey the group soon and see if we can play some Tuesdays coming up, which would get Chris back in the playing group.  I mainly want to check with Solid , Larry , RainbowSilks , Paul , and Aepod , at first on this, then see how it meshes with the other new invited players. Today will be roleplaying in-town, and meeting some new characters too. Game time coming up in 2 hours or so! Anyone who is online, come into the game table for pre-game. A couple of new Players are rolling characters and could use char-creation guidance and orientation to the homebrew world.
Shoot me an invite to the chat. I would love to create my character.
i'm going to be late today, maybe an hour or so.  sorry folks.
I can do either Monday & Tuesdays.
SolidHybrid said: I can do either Monday & Tuesdays. Solid already started it, so i will add: Mondays work best for me because of my class schedule on tues/thurs. i have a class that starts 1h after game starts and runs approx 1 1/2 hrs. If the group can play that long and does not mind the absence in the middle, i can do it.
i probably would not have joined the game originally if it had been a Monday game.  now that i'm in, that's not as much of a concern however Tuesdays still work best for me.

I can play on on tuesdays BUT only before 8:00 since i host my Mass Effect Roleplay that day
I can play Tuesdays as well, however, only at around 8 PM (GMT), give or take.
Gold you are so organized with your new chart =)
My schedule is sporadic nearly all the time. Mondays and Tuesdays are always up in the air for me honestly.
Tuesday is good by me :)
Yeah, Gold is kind of freaking me out with all this organization!  Did he get bitten by a database bug? I am OK for either day.  I never really get days off, just hours to swap around.  I do have to get up 4 hours early to play either way, and it is totally worth it.  :)   Wherever Homebrew is, I will be there to confound the bad guys!* *More specifically, confound the GMs operating the bad guys, because sometimes I come up with stuff that makes Gold go "Okay let me think about this a minute... okay everyone take five...." ...and I hear him mumble "what's that bird up to this time...."

Sssssssooo... are we playing in, uhm, 12 hours or 36 hours? I need to know when game day is because when I have 3 days to deadline, plus a B&W Disney gig suddenly due the same date, it affects when I need to sleep.  Have to schedule naps & meds. Does someone know for sure? This painting has eaten up about everything I've got, but I've gotten it this far: [ Epic painting by Larry Dixon of his character...  Scrubbed from this post by DM Gold...  to save it for a BIG REVEAL in-game ]

@ Zellbus , no problem, thanks for the heads up. @ Everyone , we will be playing the 2nd " Illusive Manager Encounter" this week so get ready for a hardcore D&D session!! Hey Larry , 12 hours from now GAME ON. Monday game this week. Next Week, I will announce Tuesday switch for APRIL games. Larry Note: If you need to skip a week to maintain deadlines, it would be understandable and accepted. I see that you are making every effort to attend. We have remarkable attendance record in this game, which is appreciated. Painting is mind-blowing but we will talk about that later!   I am Editing OUT the painting from your Post!!!!!   Can we save that for a Big Reveal In Game? Removing the image for a No Spoilers for the group's max enjoyment. Is that fine?
Being invited to play in Gold's Homebrew World game is a lot like being asked, once a week, "Hey want to go through this Stargate?"  Of course I put in a max effort to make it. :)  OK then I will be up for about an hour while I backup and tune up files.  Email or message me if you want!

All right, instead here is Birdcheese's animation of How To Get Hired.
I will be moving between cities today. In principle, I *SHOULD* arrive before the game starts, but depending on how the road is, I might be a bit late. Not too much though, maybe 15-45 minutes.

Not too much though, maybe 15-45 minutes. That is what your character, Azur , said last week.  And then he moved around 1,600 Miles to Portlandio. *Grin*.  By the way I really enjoyed your narrative story in the Journal thread. Have a safe move, Rex . Thanks for letting us know, and just log in to the game when ever you are set in the next city.
just an fyi, i will not be able to make the game on April 19th.  surgery scheduled and follow up the next Tuesday as well.  That one, on the 26th is not long and i should be here or just a bit late.
good luck and speedy recovery to you

Silks -- Best wishes on that and thanks for advanced notice. The soonest session is TUESDAY APRIL 5 so plan for that. I will post a new Scheduling thread soon, listing the April game session days (Tuesdays, with dates). Chris C. , are you coming back around with Airen the Bullywug, and Rhubarb and Wei-Ting to play? Group size is back up to around 7-8 PC's, aiming for average Party Of 6 P.S. Thanks Again Ongoing to all the players --- longstanding and new PC's --- for joining together as we've invited the newer batch of players, integrating, and see who stays. Ser was not able to remain in the band, unfortunately, although we all liked his play style and Elf warrior PC Celandine (now around as an XPC). We are admittedly still a little over-staffed now. My reasoning is: in consideration of occasional player absences, I think we will be in good shape week-to-week. If someone is showing up late, someone else leaving early, and perhaps a player missing a session now and then, we should still have a full size party to run adventures. 8 PC's (like last week) was more than I want in the playing table simultaneously, but we handled it. 6 is ideal, this has always been my target number (Co-GM and DM not counted towards the player total). I want to give everyone who's made a new PC the opportunity to integrate, roleplay,  express their character,  to contribute and play the game. We wouldn't kick out anyone who is a good player just because we have a bountiful party. What I'm saying is we will probably average around 6 players at any given time, in the game. As DM I'm asking in advance for everyone to participate with patience and persistence in each game that you are playing. If I skipped you, or you're ready to do an action or roleplay, speak up verbally and get the floor, and join in the Chat-play too. Stick with us in those rare times of slower rotation and lesser spotlight per-person when we actually have a full house of 7-8 PC's could be in attendance. This will make us a good strong group with enough back-up, as well as the opportunity to share the fun & make Roll20 friends with all these folks.
I would love to get involved somehow, maybe I could be a torch bearing henchman, or a sentient animal companion, or an lute player to a bard who sings and plays the bodhran, or maybe the voice of someones intelligent rune weapon? ;-)
Animal Companion sounds pretty cool :)

Chris said: I would love to get involved somehow, maybe I could be a torch bearing henchman, or a sentient animal companion, or an lute player to a bard who sings and plays the bodhran, or maybe the voice of someones intelligent rune weapon? ;-) I am good with these kind of ideas, Chris2 , a cool and unusual starting-point for being in a game. Bringing Chris2 into game... possible E-PC ally, henchman, or INT Weapon RP More time to roll into a full PC later if the group size reduces (or even on a low-attendance week),  or to integrate with the current large group and have a roleplaying role as one of your supplemental sidekick ideas,  without adding much more bulk to the dice calculus and turn-order. Let's see what the other Players say too. There are existing animal companions with varying degrees of personality you could pick up  ( Furnace played by Larry ,  witch familiars who are agents of Cylara's but partially controlled by DM and animal instincts,  Rhubarb a faerie dragon usually played by Chris C . and others like the befriended Celestial Vulfpeck wolves;  All are Playable; whether long term or temporary takeover; there are henchmen  those who exist already as NPC's  and new ones could be added if the party wants any hirelings;  The party has numerous ex-monster allies as well, such as 2 hill giants, 5 pixies, an aurumvorax, a chicken-size peryton, a kobod trainhopper, and a xaren, among others. Some of these have minor voices and personality, all could be retrofitted and replayed by someone new. a bard who records and retells exaggerated legends of the band's adventures could be incorporated into the meta-game (Are you familiar with JourneyQuest youtube comedy series and the female bard in that? Hilarious role);  and we have among-the-party at least 1 intelligent weapon  ( Fisher the trident of Airen's ( Chris C ); which so far I have portrayed as DM, and therefore I would happily offer to give its roleplaying role over to Chris2 in this instance). Alternately Chris2 , you could prepare ahead to play an NPC who will be arising in the adventures ahead, the downside of this is your role wouldn't really vest in the gameplay until the Party eventually reaches that NPC in-game, and that could take hours or even weeks. In conclusion I would like for you Chris2 to have a PC in the long run, but when the party-size isn't at max capacity like we are this week. Happy for you to play starting now as a Party-Sidekick role of any sort, which is what it sounds like you would want to do, and that is the discussion. I'm also happy working with Co-GM's who want to help portray some of the evil opponents and monsters, Eddyall and Illusive Manager are doing this 3rd option at present, possibly Zellbus . It sounds like Chris2 wants to play one that is more aligned with the party rather than portraying conflict against, so let's explore these options between Chris2 and the existing Player base, and decide something that you can plan to play for Tuesday session coming up next. Player thoughts? (this happened to land in Scheduling thread, which is fine for now. You can also use the Journal threads for game discussion, or the "OOC" thread for Out of Character of any subject)

Group Size & Days Announcement: If there are enough Players, we might peel off a lower-level party to play on the other day. Example of possible proposed future schedule if we have enough extra players, Main group on Tuesdays (if Chris C. comes back, Solid, Larry, Paul, Silks, Aepod...) New group on Mondays (Chris2?, Rex, Erik, ... other new applicants who want to play) The membership of either day could be changed easily, the above rosters are just examples. Same world,  same timeline. in fact PC's could migrate between the days, whichever works best for your schedule and story. Not repeated adventures. Different adventures that could affect or inform the other party. In the meantime, until then, on Tuesdays: our ideal number of PC's leading the Party is 6.   When we have extra players beyond 6, the ones who aren't Co-GM's, will be more like.... soldiers or 2nd line .... and the 6 Player-Characters with the longest history and highest level will be the frontline spokes-people of the party. Everyone will still get a chance to play if you attend and have an approved character ready, or to Co-GM, or to play a henchman/companion. The Top 6 PC's will be called upon to act as the leaders of the session.
I am happy to play any NPC, item, creature, ally, or monster. I have an extensive RP back ground. I've been playing DnD for nigh on 30 years, although the last 10 have been VERY light. I do RP in most of my MMORPG games I play. "Lord of the rings online", "Star Wars: The Old Republic", "Guild Wars 2".. on top of playing in a friends 5th Ed DnD game, and another game on roll20 that is Pathfinder. So the art of the RP is not lost on me, although my knowledge of 2nd Ed AD&D might be a bit rusty. (Ahem, that is.. um.. about 15 years.. rusty... anyways) Henchmen are always fun and exciting. I would need a very basic, "What is my personality?", unless you want me to create something from the Æther in which I could be a, just for example: A thief that get's caught by the party and winds up working for the one who caught them. A person of the cloth whom may be taking a pilgrimmage to spread the word of his/her god to the world. A Ranger who starts to have feeling with a party member because of a simple act of kindness shown to them. A common farmer or cook who is very skilled with knives and cooking/farming/trapping and can make everyone more comfortable (Perhaps he has knowledge of the plants and creatures in the surrounding area). A fledgling magic user eager to make his mark on the word and takes up his first chance to learn from (whom he would consider) the greatest magic user in the land. A young apprentice swordsman who just finishing his trials has heard of your group and is full of eagerness to show you how much he has learned. (The Fanboy of the group) ;-) Once we figure out which player wants a player NPC and it's approved, we can move forward. I have endless amounts of ideas and some of which are outside of the box. In any case, it'll be a fun time no matter what! ;-) Chris2
Chris2, Furnace the Firedrake is a party and town favorite (CHA of 14 having a lot to do with it) and can speak and understand Common and Draconic just fine.  A Firedrake can be a bit challenging to play but if you are interested, I will back you on it. The ongoing joke is that Sigma is Furnace's familiar, since the Firedrake is both more likable and intelligent than the minotaur. :)

Oh my, choices, choices.. so many choices! I've never played a Firedrake, but it could be an interesting idea, although I think because Baradin is looking for a squire it could lend itself to maybe being more of a permanent character. But let's see who else's interest is peaked then discuss it with Gold! :-)
