I need someone to please explain this to me?

I cant seem to figure out how to do this. I have good experience with 5th ed. However i need help with navigating this confusing process. I am just trying to join a game but it wont allow me to do so. I have google chrome which i use but when i get invited to join a game it, I click on the link to the forum. From there it says the link doesnt work and from THERE, it takes me to another screen where i am alone with no one in game but i can at least roll the dice and chat with NO ONE of course. I then have the gm come in and tell me to go to the forum (WHICH I CANT DO). So to explain this extremely complicated process I want to just play a game, thats all. If it turns out that this is too confusing then I am going to just stick with regular meetings rather than this stuff. Cause getting stressed out is not in my interests. -Dave
Ok dude. Here's what you do. Get the link for the game from the GM. Get skype and have them talk you through the process. The forum page is on the front page of the game (where it lists the game).
Thats the problem. I tried using skype on my laptop but it wont let me configure sounds. There is no sound listing or tutorial for how to setup sounds. To put it simple, do we REALLY need to use skype to do it, cant we just message people on chat and roll on chat? I really dont want to use skype.
You can play without audio, of course, if you want to. It's slower than using audio, but some people prefer it. That's something you have to talk about with your GM though.
No, you don't need to use skype. You can just use the built in voice/video chat or just use text chat. What sounds like the problem here though, is that you're not joining the right campaign. You need to use the join link your DM sends you.
What the Sky Captain said sounds right. Your GM should have a greyed out link on his screen and he'll send that to you and thats the one you follow. And I just use skype out of preference but the roll20 works ok.
And for later, you need to go to Games > My Games (links at the top) and click join game to enter the map/campaign area. My Games Link >> https://app.roll20.net/campaigns/search/
