Too Few Tabs on the Sheet

The sheet isn't realy suitable for a Table Top game. the problem is mostly that all the traits have to be added to the same list. it would help a lot if we could add taps to the sheet so that Traits can be categorized. Just as a regular paper sheet is divided up into areas to keep different types of traits seperate from one another and make a quick trait reference possible. for example ; white wolf games use Attributes, Skills, Backgrounds, Specialties, and dozens of different types of Traits to represent powers, spells and special Abilities. i also have anotther suggestion for Character Sheets. If we could choose a campaign type, based on the character sheet, before we create it, Roll20 could add an appropriate sheet to the option - for now i think the following options would be good - Generic [this is what we have now], D10 RPG's [which includes tabs on the sheet for the basic traits for Whitewolf Games], D20 RPG's [which includes tabs on the sheet that are appropriate for any D20-system based game]. Roll20 can of course add more options, but for now these 3 options would already be an enormous improvement.  Boko

and this is related to the API how? Are you suggesting that the character sheet be altered or created for these specific system styles through the use of the API scripts ? Moved to the suggestion board.
..i Don't know much 'bout computers and programming (for example - What's API).however, what i'm suggesting is that you get the option to choose between different types of campaigns when you create a new one, Based on the Dice Rolls and Character Sheets being used. as for mij first suggesting (the option to create extra Trait Taps to tailor your character sheets to your campaigns). i think that is an absolute must to keep RPG games flexible and maintain the flow of the stories being told.

Boko (GM) said: i Don't know much 'bout computers and programming (for example - What's API). API stands for Application Programming Interface. In the context of Roll20, it's a system available to Mentor accounts which can expand certain parts of the Roll20 application via JavaScript code. The Roll20 API does not create or modify the User Interface, hence Metroknight's question, "this is related to the API how?" You've posted a suggestion in the API forum which is not pertaining to anything the Roll20 API is capable of.
before this post gets moved, I would like to add: 1) I think the Attributes and Abilities should be two different tabs. 2) I also think that the "add to macro quick bar" option for Abilities be IN the editable view of the sheet, or at least not under it, maybe before the little d20 button? This would save room on the page itself, and not have the Abilities broken up/separated.

I totally agree with this... But being able to customize the sheet would be even better than just "choose between 3 options" Most systems use at least 3 kinds of characteristics, like attributes, skills and feats/talents/merits/traits... In some cases, much more than only that... Attributes and skills are omnipresent, there's almost always a thrid characteristic, with different names for each system, and yet, many systems have more than just this (Pathfinder has both traits and feats; nWoD has merits and powers) A tab for magic would also help a lot, being able to describe the rituals and magics the character knows, without adding them simply to the Bio or as an ability...

Yeah totally. ...and a few Quick Buttons for the most common Dice Rolls (like a d20 for DnD D20 games, and d10 rolls for whitewolf based games). it's especially good to have one for White Wolf based games as this is a complex macro to create. ...however, its ultimately up to the guys behind Roll20 and the funding they get from people like us.

The sheet as it stands is a blank piece of paper and the devs have left it up to us to work with it. The first tab is just for text, picture, and the default token. It's the second tab that seems to make everyone fuss about. The first column called attributes can be used for any and all modifiers you can think of. The second column called abilities is where you can make any and all your dice rollers which can also be macros. Those macros can and do push the program to it's limit. Remember this is supposed to be a replacement for your table when playing these games. Can you give an example of what the sheet as it stands can not do for your system. If people can supply examples of what the sheet can not do then the devs will know what needs to be looked at.

First of three pictures comparing it to a text (pdf) sheet to show as it stands you can make a comparable character sheet vs a printable sheet. It might not be as pretty but it is just as functional if not more so. Making the dice macros is not hard at all. I can duplicate everything on the printable pdf sheet. What can you not recreate as it stands? The only thing I would suggest is to make the tab, section, and column titles editable. That would help alot.
