HOw to create charaters/sheets

So...I know I totally deserve the RTFM response but...i'll ask anyways since I didn't see a doc on the wiki about this :) Lets say I want to create a campaign (got past all the map stuff) and now I want to add some pre-gen characters to it with stat blocks like savage worlds (or whatever). How do I do this? And as a bonus...how to I 'create' a character sheet 'blank' that when a new charater joins can fill in their own stats...but the stat blocks are relavent to the system the campaign is currently running. I guess the question is...where are the docs on creating characters? Or do people have their character sheets in front of them when they play (as in pen and paper). Thanks!

First, we dont give RTFM responses although we may show you where to find it in the wiki. :) Wiki: https://wiki.roll20.net/Journal How to create a character sheet template: 1) Create a character sheet and name it "Template" (or whatever you wish). 2) Add and name Attributes (ie: stats). 3) Add, name, and make some of the common Abilities (ie: Macros). Note: Character sheet macros (Abilities) are assigned to the sheet while Settings Tab Macros are part of the player's information. 4) Save. Whenever you need to give a player a sheet based on the template give edit the "Template" and hit Duplicate. Then assign the Duplicate to the player (both the "In Player's Journals" and the "Can Be Edited" fields). You will also need to rename the sheet, assign an image (if desired), and link it to a token (if desired) for the player. Feel free to ask other questions. :) - Gauss
Fantastic this is awesome! Thanks for reply. One more quick question then I think I have it from here. So I assume the abilities and attributes are macros or whatever. and I think its neat how you can 'pin' attributes to the table top. How would I do this: Lets say you have an Agility Attribute of: d6 and you have an ability of 'Fighting': whenever you hit the 'Fighting' ability (button on table top since its pinned) you roll your 'Agility" + some other modifier or whatever (like check to see if you have another x ability to modify etc). Does this 'code' live in that text box that is below the ability in the character sheet? Can you give me some sample macro code or point me to the wiki? The possibilities could be endless...and also...since (if?) the above is true I can code each one of these. Do they have 'sets' I can import that has a lot of this logic already built in. For example, I want to do a savage worlds campaign and want to create all the templates which have the rules etc...do they have 'sets' you can load up?
ah...just followed your link...and read the wiki...its got samples in there...thanks!

The main wiki link is at the top of this page in the black bar. :) Here is the link to macros: https://wiki.roll20.net/Macros Dice reference: https://wiki.roll20.net/Dice_Reference There are not currently sets since Roll20 is system agnostic. You need to create your own. :) Let me know if you have further questions. - Gauss
Hey Nat - you might find it easier to keep track of character sheets completely off of Roll20. Some people prefer sites like Myth-weavers, others go by Google Docs, and I paradoxically like to keep as much on paper as possible. While Macros speed the game up (and were great for Savage Worlds when I ran it a few months ago), don't feel pressed to put everything into Roll20 unless you really want to .
Thanks everyone!
