how to get started

i just joined with a friend of mine back home, we dont start till next week. but how do i builda chacter etc...
If you're talking about stats and things like that, I would suggest looking at some of the books for the system you're using. If you're talking about making the character themselves, I would suggest going with a general idea or theme for your character that you think would be fun to roleplay as. Now... if you're talking about how to create a character here on R20, then (if you've got GM privileges) you would have to go into the journal, click the add button, then click add character.  It'll spawn a character with a random name. If you don't have GM privileges, then you'll need the GM to spawn a character sheet for you, then give you the ability to see it in the journal page and give you the ability to edit the character sheet.  Once you have a character sheet to edit, click on the name of the character. This will pop up a window inside of R20 (unless you have pop-out character sheets enabled in the settings tab). The window should have three (3) tabs. Bio, Character Sheet, and Attributes & Abilities.  Click on the Character Sheet tab. This will bring up the character sheet for you to edit. This will look different depending on which system and sheet template the game you're playing uses. For the most part, I think every sheet auto-calculates things like your HP, Modifiers, etc as you fill in your stats and equipment and such.  I know that this is a general guide. This is all assuming you know how to enter a game and know which tabs are which. If this helped you at all, I'm happy to hear that. If not, let me know what you didn't understand and I'll try to help out a little better.
