How to use the permalink.

Honestly have no idea, what is permalink, what is its use, and how do you get to it/use it. appreciated. 

(Moving this to Specific Questions) The permalink is is a shortened link to a specific post within a forum (public or private).  It is generally used to point to (I bet you guessed it!) a specific post in a thread, generally because you want someone else to look at something specific.  You 'get to it' by mousing over 'Permalink' under the user's name for the specific post and generally either clicking that link or right/context-clicking and selecting 'Copy Link Location' (or whatever your browser has that is similar).
