Hey Paul. Instead of asking in the game about wanting to monitor the pod and transport, just emote your actions and desires. Try this instead /em will continue to monitor the status of the transport and the pod in realtime on our instruments so that we can react quickly if the wind causes an emergency. Or /me whatever action you want to do. It helps with the immersion factor of the story if everyone emotes their character's actions and speech. Which is a better read "Pat S. I walk into a bar and say give me a beer" or Pat S walks into a bar and says "Give me a beer". The first one is just a statement of the action but the second one paints the picture of me walking into a bar and ordering a beer. With the emote feature you can paint and expand on the scene so let me expand on my emote scene at the bar. /em walks into the rundown seedy bar that has stale smoke hanging stagnantly above the heads of the rowdy looking patrons who are drinking and playing pool. The music coming from a battered old jukebox sitting in the back corner of the room blares out a honkytonk song. The one eye bar tender is, standing over by the beer taps, wiping out some mugs. Spotting the bar tender, he walks over to an empty spot and slams his hand down before calling out "Give me a beer" with a growl. GM talk I want all my players to take charge of their scene and paint a vivid picture. I'm not a GM that has to control all the details. This is your game, your story also. Add the details of the scene and let me worry about the big picture of the overall story. This is your chance to shine. If you want to post a good concise emote that paints your character doing an action, go for it. If you want a wall of text, just keep it a small wall or break the big wall into small walls but never control another player's character. Control an npc, within reason, all you want. Make up a name and nationality if you want. There is 10 members that landed on Mars and another 10 in space that will never touch ground but can be communicated with. The micromanagement of details is not something to worry about unless you, as a player, deems it is something that is crucial to the story and it's progress. If your character counting ammo and and doing piece by piece inventory is crucial then type up a post that includes a detailed list of inventory. If you think your character post should just indicate, aka handwave, him spending a few hours doing inventory and checking ammo then just type of a descriptive post of him doing it but don't worry about a detailed list of inventory. If you are not sure of your post, ask in the forums here first. There is no rush at this moment and even then if it was a rush moment in the game, aka combat, it is not truly a rushed moment in real life as this is a play by asynchronous text post, mouthful there so let's call it PbatP, so it is just fine to ask about it in the forums and get other peoples opinions. If you don't think it should go into the ooc, create a thread and post it there. After the question is flogged to death and posted, it can be deleted and the game goes on. Questions? Comments? It's your dime so make the time to chime.
