Looking for a fun, mature group to play an ongoing 5th Edition game set in a (sort-of) homebrew setting: System: 5th Edition D&D Player Count: Max 5 (Potential room for one or two more as play progresses) Style of Play: Multiple syles - mix of adventure/dungeoncrawling, and intrigue/politics Allowed Content: All published official WotC (inc. Unearthed Arcana on a case by case basis) Character Creation: Initial post in forum below, but will use OGL 5th Ed sheet(s) in-game Backstory: Yes - please read below Experience: Control many characters, initially 2. One will start at level 1 and one will start at level 2. Wealth: Starting equipment as per Player's handbook Ability Scores: 4d6b3 nothing higher that 18 inc. racials Hitpoints: Max levels 1-3, rolled 4+ Alignment: Non-evil The Setting Capstone revolves around the descendants of an experimental Gnomish ship, the GMS Second Round of Feedback , which was declared lost with all hands on its maiden voyage; an attempt to harness multiple gate and teleportation spells to facilitate instant, efficient cargo transport. The ship crash landed on an island, approximately 200 miles across, seemingly floating in an infinite blue sky. With the ship unsalveagable, the crew settled down to explore the island and build a community, always searching for a way to find out where they are, how they got there, and how to get home. A few years after the crash, some of the crew discovered a particular gem, hidden in a cave in the foothills of the islands centre, that seemed to give off a strange , arcane radiance. Further study indicated that it responded to the presence of certain members of the crew. Eventually, the gnomes discovered that the gem, when properly used, could project the consciousness of the wielder into the body of a person inhabiting one of the many Prime Material planes that litter the multiverse. Once inside that person, the gem wilder could control that persons actions, use their skills as if they were their own, and bring back knowledge from those worlds. Immediately seizing on the this magical research tool, the gnomes founded the SoulStrike Guild and set about exploring the realms around them. That was 500 years ago. Now, the town of Apprise holds more than ten thousand souls, and you have been chosen as an apprentice soulstriker. After a gruelling course of study, you are about to sit your final exam; Your first soulstrike... The Game 1. Players will create and control both their main characters (which must be Gnomes) and also will create and control any characters their Gnome soulstrikes into. 2. Their Gnomish main character can be any class, but must start at level 1. 3. Gnomish characters will level up extremely slowly, but for every successful story arc that the player completes, the Gnomish character can select a feat, or skill/tool proficiency, representing the knowledge that they have acquired on their experience. 4. Characters created for adventures on the prime material planes will be multiple levels depending on the story - one story arc might be a low-level stealth adventure, while another might be a level-20 apocalyptic battle. 5. Without spoiling the plot too much, there is an overarching plot that links together all of the soulstrike adventures, but mainly it involves something interfering with fate, changing the way key events play out. Think Quantum Leap/Sliders, with a dash of bad guys reading the Evil Overlord List. 6. The game will fairly evenly split its time between more action-focused story arcs mostly using the characters on the Prime material plain, and more investigative, political story arc taking place in Capstone with the Gnomish characters - although this will not always be the case... Mwahaha. Want to Play? 1. The second session will cover your Gnomish characters final exam - an unsupervised soulstrike into an adventuring group with the mission to find the body of a revered bard lost in the wilderness and bring it back for burial (Characters start at level 2). 2. The first session will cover character creation/review and discussions on the world, history, etc, as well as discussing potential future campaigns that you'd like your characters to soulstrike into. 3. We'll be playing weekly on Thursdays, most likely using the internal voice and video on Roll 20, between 7pm - 10pm GMT. Please only apply if you can make those times fairly regularly (I may have to miss one or two session for work commitments, but otherwise should be all good) To be considered for this game then, please post below with the following A brief intro with your gaming experience (I don't mind if it's not very much - I'm still very much an intermediate GM, having GM'd for friends in real life and on here for the last five years or so.) A character sketch for your Gnomish character - just personality type, attitude etc. A fully created character (Stats, background, ideals, bonds flaws, personality etc) for your characters' final soulstrike exam - can be any race, non-evil alignment or class - see top of post for character gen rules Any questions you might have!
