Support for asynchronous games

Hello all! I'm pretty new to roll20.net, and I'm trying to use it to play an asynchronous D&D skirmish game (<a href="http://ddmguild.org" rel="nofollow">http://ddmguild.org</a>), and I'm wondering about a few features particular to asynchronous support: 1) Is there a way to entirely hide avatars/names? I found Player/Video Avatar Size, for names only, but I really don't need them at all. 2) Is there a way to notify another player that it's their turn? I can just send a normal email, but I'm wondering if there's an in-game notification system of some sort that we could use. This is very minor. 3) Is there a way to save zoom settings from session to session? This is also minor, but since I'm checking in many times per day when it's my move (and then playing for ~2-3 minutes), it could be useful to know how to save that value from session to session. Thank you!

I found Player/Video Avatar Size, for names only, but I really don't need them at all. Unfortunately, I don't believe there is a way. On the plus side, they are only displayed when that person is in game, so if it's just you, all you'll have is your name plate (assuming you select names only). 2) Is there a way to notify another player that it's their turn? I can just send a normal email, but I'm wondering if there's an in-game notification system of some sort that we could use. This is very minor. Best way (assuming you don't want to use methods outside of roll20) would be the game forums/Roll20 PM. All members of the game are sent a notification of forum posts in games that they are part of. This does of course assume that everyone has the "email notification" feature of roll20 set up. 3) Is there a way to save zoom settings from session to session? This is also minor, but since I'm checking in many times per day when it's my move (and then playing for ~2-3 minutes), it could be useful to know how to save that value from session to session. As with number 1, there is not a way that I know of. It defaults to 100% zoom. -Scott

Hello Ira. I run asynchronous text games regularly on roll20 (got a hybrid one -live sessions with asynch between sessions- and a straight up asynch one running right now) and the basics is what Scott says. 1: There is really no way to remove the name (you can have the avatar reduced to name only but it is only on your machine also) but someone might come along with a hack for it. 2: I create a thread in the game forums as everyone who is a member of that group gets a notification if a post is made. You can name it like "Your turn" or "Who's turn is it". Anything will work as it is a global notification. 3: As Scott says there is no way to set it up to retain the zoom. If you want to ask a question or few, drop me a pm and I will do my best to answer them.

It occurs to me that you might be able to do something with an add-on like stylish to adjust the look of the avatar boxes. This would be limited to your computer only, and I have no idea if it would actually be possible. I know that there are some hacks around for adjusting the appearance of the pages bar lying around that do things like that. <a href="https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/2433693/css-tric" rel="nofollow">https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/2433693/css-tric</a>... & <a href="https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/3648211/slug%7D" rel="nofollow">https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/3648211/slug%7D</a> as examples of those. I haven't done anything like this, so I've got no idea how you'd go about it exactly, but those posts may give some hints (at least if it is possible).
I used the method in the second link. Works great.
Thanks for the quick and helpful replies, everyone!
