Dynamic Lighting Frustration: Table top group

Me and my gaming group have been using the Roll20 free account with me on a laptop and the players gathered around a large touch screen monitor put into the center of the table. Things have been going great the ability to quickly set up (load) the next map, track enemy life, etc.. has been very helpful at speeding over most of the normal set up time we used to suffer through. So one of my friends after seeing a video on dynamic lighting and line of sight decided to buy me a years subscription of the Pro Account, and after going through, researching and modifying my upcoming maps I really liked how dynamic lighting and the LOS wall mapping tools upped my maps to the next level. Could say I was really excited for the next gaming session, so here is the problem. Since were a group of friends hanging out together with just the one monitor we didn't know that the game shows the LOS for every token controlled by a given player (which is one player controlling 6 players and 1 familiar). Put a serious damper on everything, ended up having to turn on/off has sight every time it came to one of my players and had to generate a special token while my enemies were acting so that the players know what is going on. While I don't mind the players seeing everything in between turns or during the monsters turns (figure the players would talk to each other anyway), is there someway to activate the Ctrl+L feature that the GM has for the players so that when acting a player sees just their own perspective. Super useful for determining things like cover and in dark maps for determining if a player can actually see something. (half my party has darkvision so is a big deal of can see/can't see) Cause right now it's starting to feel like all the time we saved by using roll20 in the first place to speed up the fiddly bits have turned into new and annoying fiddly bits.

That is a common request for in-person games. &nbsp;There are a few options you can pursue: Create a different Chrome Profile for each player, open Roll20 in each profile and login as a different player. &nbsp;Use tab switching to switch between players' windows. See:&nbsp; <a href="https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/2364824?h" rel="nofollow">https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/2364824?h</a>... There is an API script (a Pro Level Perk) that will do what you've been doing manually, which makes playing in person a bit more&nbsp;immersive. See: <a href="https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/3472238/script-f" rel="nofollow">https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/3472238/script-f</a>... &nbsp; We're building a wiki page with more information on In Person Games which might be of interest:&nbsp; <a href="https://wiki.roll20.net/Using_Roll20_while_Playing" rel="nofollow">https://wiki.roll20.net/Using_Roll20_while_Playing</a>...

Wow. Great resources. I've been DMing as one of the remote participants, with about half of my players all in the same room a thousand miles away (It's great to live in the future). We've just been granting permission for all PC tokens, but the script looks very intriguing.

Yeah, I've not tried it yet, but I'm looking forward to giving it a go. :)
Well guess trying to make additional accounts would work and remove some fiddly bits, hopefully having to keep track of who to display during a monsters turn won't be too much of a headache. But I'll be serious here, why is the Ctrl+L function only available for GMs? I've been reading and heard about the problem involving NPCs that are handed off to the players and I had planed to do the same in an upcoming mission. Am I going to have to create accounts just for them, technically I'm already about to do that since I'm planning to create an account just for a players familiar.

So just went to create an additional account, can't re use the same e-mail address. While I'm safe in that I can force my players this weekend to create accounts how am I supposed to deal with the familiar and future NPCs? And please don't let it be, "dislike our product, well since you like socializing go stick it in a tree and pay $50 extra dollars to make it work this time...probably." Sorry that's rude, tired, figured I just need to sit down and fix this and immediately got road blocked. Main reason tho would be because I really do like roll20 as a GM aid, best digital product I've come across that (had) easily helps with the game immersion. And at least from the GM screen side I had thought the dynamic lighting worked just fine so I might have been overly peeved that the same degree of functionality wasn't there on the player side. I get it for the design side, "a player only ever needs to control one token" was the mind set, but that just isn't the case. For 5e you can have both the rangers beast companion or the wizards familiar before you may start handing out things like NPC. Which yes I could just control, but I was hoping to leave them directly under the players control because they are excellent moral and alignment meters to judge my players with to see if they should be rewarded or punished.&nbsp;

Are you using the auras for the tokens? If not, could you use that? If something is inside the characters aura that "something" can be seen? Not as snazzy as the dynamic lighting for each player, but you already said you don't mind the players seeing everything since the character would be communicating anyway, so...just an idea.

Stewart CW, I don't know if your email is Gmail-based, but if it is, you're in luck for at least part of your problem. Gmail allows you to put a "+" after your name, followed by any number of characters and it will still resolve to you gmail account. That is, it looks like a different email address to third party sites (like Roll20), but really isn't. I use it for the "Camera" account I set up for recording games as a player. My regular log in is <a href="mailto:myname@gmail.com" rel="nofollow">myname@gmail.com</a>, but the login for "Camera" is <a href="mailto:myname+camera@gmail.com" rel="nofollow">myname+camera@gmail.com</a>. It's a cool trick; I use it to track spam sources or to route message traffic all the time. Of course, if you're not on gmail, never mind, but if you are, cool.

Yeah, I thought about suggesting that as well, but it's probably better if your players each have their own accounts. &nbsp;That will let them do some customization regarding how they want to use Roll20, and will also make it easier on them if they ever decide they want to play with others, or if they need to play remotely for some reason.
@Finerski, the auras were what we were using before activating dynamic lighting, I might have to do that but would prefer not too, kind of seems like a waste of money to go backwards. @keithcurtis, I wasn't aware that you could do that with a gmail account, I'll look into that and see if it works. Thank you
Thank you keithcurtis, normally use my gmail for business, but in this case it worked out perfectly. I decided to just dump the NPCs into one account (may have gotten lazy at that point) and after reading up on the familiar I now know that you use either it's senses or the wizards at any given time so decided to just leave that token with its has sight off. Now that I've set it up on my work computer here's hoping that the laptop under the table doesn't decide to fight me. Thanks once more
