GM LFP, Shadow of the Demon Lord, Thursdays EST (GMT -5), time to be determined, Skype for Audio, no video.

Hi, my work schedule is changing and I find that I'm going to have Thursdays off. As such, I'd like to start running a Shadow of the Demon Lord game on that day. For anyone not familiar, SotDL is in most respects a traditional fantasy game, but with a decidedly dark and twisted spin. It is any given D&D world, gone terribly, terribly wrong. Madness, corruption and brutal, savage violence are commonplace. New players are welcome and no experience with the game system or setting is required. Points of Consideration: - I use Skype for audio, but no video. - Character Ancestries may be selected from the following books: SotDL rule book, Demon Lords Companion, Terrible Beauty, or A Glorious Death. - We will have a character creation session in which the random elements of character generation will be rolled. I really like the creative narratives this tends to encourage. Ideally, once characters are written up, I'd like all the players to have a quick discussion about how their characters know one another. Lastly, while I haven't fully decided yet, I'm tempted to run this as a sandbox style game, driven primarily by player set goals rather than traditional module play. If you chose to express your interest in the game, please also mention whether sandbox style play is something you'd prefer. If interested, please respond below. If we somehow get 2 to 4 players quickly enough, we can get to rolling up characters as early as tomorrow and I can have session 1 ready by Thursday the 29th. Happy gaming, Alex
Do you know what time Thursdays?
Since I'll have the day off, I'm flexible as to the start time.
I'd be interested in playing. I have the books, but have yet to play it. My Thursdays are pretty open. I'm flexible when it comes to sandbox or module or a mix of the two in some fashion since modules are always nice to borrow from.
Anthony, First - I LOVE your Roll20 profile art. Second - It's looking like sessions will start at 8:30 PM EST (which would be 6:30 PM your time) on Thursdays. PM me your Skype ID and we'll set up a time to roll up your character. So far, my other player is playing a Goblin. Brian, does the start time work for you?
Hellos, I hail from the SoTDL Forums of BEDLAM! I too would be interested in playing in this game. I'm Central Time more or less, so your posited start times for sessions should not be a problem for me. I myself have access to all the SoTDL materials As well, I've ran a campaign, and currently running one as well. Finally, on points of consideration, looks like: NO Gnomes, Centaurs, Ghouls, skinchangers, and Cambion basically. As well, would any of us as players typing communicate, opposed to voice be fine?
I'd be interested. I don't know much about the systems beyond the basics (core mechanics, basic narrative), but if you're willing to put up with that, I'd love to join.
@ Aryxbex: While I have no issues with typing to supplement voice communication, I've run games where one player in the group used typing instead of voice and it had the effect of slowing things down considerably. Given that my sessions normally go for 2 to 2 and a half hours, that has a big effect on the flow of the game. So I would prefer voice communication be the primary form of interaction during the session. @ Brett, if the start time works for you (Thursdays at 8:30 PM EST) and you're comfortable with sandbox style play, PM me your Skype ID.
Only 2.5 hours? that's actually quite surprising, not sure how well that'd work for a Hex-Crawl/Kingdom management Patchwork Kingdoms game. That said, I will seek to do audio for the ease of play as I can. For Random Rolling, wouldn't something like an online roller be fine as well? https://rolz.org/ is pretty reliable for that as would create a Dice Room that its history can be viewed, or room itself. Finally, I sent ya a PM for the Skype.
i'm interested. CST
Please note that we now have a full game. Thank you for your interest. Happy gaming.
