Session 102?:" Oops i did it again! " A gnomes tale part 4 of ??? (( Expect some editing, as its late, and I have a headache ^^)) Zeech, Aarakockra, Monk lvl 3 (Sam) Nichrome Weiss, Human, Warlock/Sorcerer lvl 2 (Sam D S) CogNutz Wild sorceress, Rock gnome lvl 3 ( Simen M) Bort, Fighter, Goliath Lvl 3 ( Hairy0tter) Haraldr, Archer Fighter, Human Varient, lvl 3 ( Wolf R I ) As I was continuing my studies at the Whitehorse library ,Nichrome approached me saying he was putting together party for an adventure, curious about the details I had a look at the notice board. The job was to seek out a strange glowing tree, which allegedly changed the local wild life, causing them to change, skin turn to stone and the likes. Seemed like a fair enough mission, so I agreed to join and we made our way to the tipsy mermaid to wrangle up some more members, As we walked there I snacked on the flier, Nichrome gave me a strange look, but nothing to out of the ordinary. At the Mermaid, we made a dramatic entry, with a shower of sparks, doves and smoke Nichrome proclaimed our would be mission and asked for volunteers. A giant man thing named Bort raised his hand saying he would join us, and after a lot of back and forth so would Zeech, a eehm.. birdman? Yes birdman with wings, and a beak, strange looking thing. And lastly there was the loudmouthed man with the strange accent named Haraldr, who had been with me during my magical mishap, and had attempted to shoot me.. I’d have to keep an eye on him. The men we picked up at the mermaid wanted to know the details of the job, but with Nichrome’s memory failing him, and me having eaten the flier, all they knew was that we were to go look for a strange glowing tree. After the ferry trip to camp Galv , Zeech sat about drawing a map of the area. Haraldr saying he’d been here before lead us the captains tent for a chat, As he burst through the captains tent flap we heard a angry man shout at him telling him to get the fuck out and leave. Once haraldr wandered back off, we got words with the captain, trying to get more info on the tree, sadly he dident have much of use to tell us, except that as we’d be fighting rock’ish creatures sharp weapons and fire would do little to them. We asked about other dangers of the area, and was told there was a lot of elemental creatures roaming the area. And with that in mind we made camp as it was already getting late, and settled inn for the night. I made another clockwork toy, this time in the likeness of haraldr, when winded up it walked around shouting in his accent ‘ oooh hooo oooh Lê baguette! ‘. Which seemed to annoy the birdman, as he promptly took it away from me and broke it, the bastard. On the morning I checked the gauge on my Store’O’Zapper to see how the Aura forcast. It was hard to get a clear reading, as it seemed to have changed from yesterday. We set off at a fast pace, so the birdman named Zeech decided to ride in the cart of Nichrome’s donkey, drawing maps as we went. The Giant man named Bort, who looked quite harmless, but capable was kind enough to let me sit on his shoulders as we travelled. After some small talk and me feeding him brad that I made to taste like chicken( he said that was his favourite flavour) I felt much safer in his presence after this, he’s quite the kind gentle giant once you get to know him. I like him, despite him being a bit, ehm, slow witted. We came to a halt at a fast moving river, where the only way over seemed to be a fallen tree. As we had Nichrome’s donkey, who was named Leeroy ( that’s a good donkey name ) we decided to cross the river further north, as Haraldr said there was bridge there. The birdman, when not busy flying , would continue to make maps, I caught a few glimpse of what he was making, they were gorgeous! As night was closeing inn we found a nice spot to make camp, our backs to a cliff. Sadly no cozy cave though..The birdman Zeech flew up on the Cliffside and spendt some time up there, I think he was building a nest or something. Nichrome made some nice dirt walls around the campsite using his magic (how come I cant do that!? Would be useful for making caves I bet.), while i crawled under the donkey’s cart and huddled up with my Store’O’zapper with a blanket for warmth. The others said they’d take watch. Rudely awaken by the loudmouthed man again. Because a bird was trying to take nichrome's gold pouch. As I was rather groggy from sleeping I dident catch everything that happened. but Nichrom tried to talk to the bird in some strange laungage, and to my surprise the bird responded, and Nichrome translate to us. its name was birdbird, and it needed gold, saying we had gold, and it had no gold. I attempted to foul it by using my crafty magic to create a shiny gold colourd trinket and tossing it to it. After pecking at it with its beak it chirped something to Nichrome, who translated, Not real, Magic! I then approach it and sat down the clockwork haraldr wich clicked into life and wanderd towards the birdbird, who clearly saw the value of such a fantastic creation ( wish a certain other bird would see that aswell..)and put it into a pouch. The real haraldr started shouting that it was his gold and started firing arrows at Birdbird, the arrow bounced harmlessy off its body, sturdy bird. Angerd he fired another arrow that ripped open the pouch, spilling some of its contents. Birdbird started to collect the dropped goldpices, Haraldr again shouted that it was his gold, and continued to fire at it. Sick of the strange archers attacks, Birdbird fired back at haraldr, from its beak blueish balls of energy flew towards haraldr, but he nimbly dodged all the projectiles. Fed up with the whole thing Birdbird decided to fly off, With Haraldr fireing arrow after arrow after it. The spilled gold caused some arguments between haraldr and Zeech, about who's gold it was that had fallen on the ground. Still tired I decided to try and get some shuteye. But Zeech(birdman) and Haraldr was at each others throats. Knowing Haraldr couldent see in the dark I used my magic to snuff the lights around the camp, in an attempt to get them to back to sleep. During their little slap fight a loud rumbling alerted us that something else was coming. After Bort had fired his crossbow at something on top of the cliff, the party made ready for battle. A massive beetle showed itself on the top of the cliff, and came charging towards us in the camp. it was met by a barrage of magic and arrows, Bort met it as it came down from the cliff, and it tried to nibble on him. But we dispatched the beetle pretty quick. My backpack had a bit of a backlash, which made everyone’s skin soften for a short time. mm baby bottom smooth. Before going back to bed, Bort put on a show with the dead beetle, lifting it over himself and pretending to be the beetle, it was very entertaining, once finished with the carcass I scooped up some beetle ichor in my vial. The next morning after breakfast I again checked my gage to see how the aura was, it was different from the day before, strange. Bort, the gentle goliath (as he called himself) put me on his shoulders and we marched on, Zeech continued to make his beautiful maps. after following the mountain chain, we decided to cross it. But we had a hard time finding a safe passage, after backtracking away from two dangerous looking place, we came to a wide area that looked safe enough. Fearing avalanches we sent the birdman Zeech inn first to check for loose snow. Zeech up ahead disturbed some sort of ice air elemental that formed in front of us, and started hovering in the space in front Zeech, who carefully backed off, fearing it would attack us. After much debate, about whether to turn back ( Haraldr tried to insist we turn back, but no one paid much attention to him) I tried just wavering to the floating thing and said hello, it responded with a low hum. So we tried to communicate with it, but couldn’t get any clear response to it, just more hum’s. we decided to try and get past it, but as it seemed docile we thought it best not to anger it. Bort the gentle giant approached it, carefully, I advised him to try and hum back to it. Wich it seemed to like. After some petting from Bort, it seemed to rather friendly. but would not let Bort pass. It kept wanting us to approach the ledge, but insisting we couldn’t get past it. So i tied myself off and Anchored myself to Bort and went to have a look. The floating elemental looked to understand our plan, and froze Borts feet stuck to the ground, further anchoring him. Bort then lowered me down the Cliffside. Where i spotted a cave, birdman flew down and investigated, he came back up and told us he could see inside the cave. And that there was a giant icicle with something metal stuck in the middle. After some more debate on who was to go down to investigate. We decided on myself, Nichrome, and having Zeech fly down with us. Haraldr kept trying to insist that we send him down, but the group didn’t quite trust him, as he had moments before threatened to leave and head back because it looked to dangerous to cross here, but now that there was talk of a mystical cave with what appeared to be a rapier inside, he had changed his tune, so the group didn’t trust him with the job, despite his claimed skill at climbing. Bort lowered me, Zeech and Nichrome down into the cave, the ice creature, who i named flakes, followed us down there. Once in the cave. We faced the giant icicle. inside wich was a fine looking rapier. We tried blasting it with fire, but it did not even leave a mark on the ice block, and it just scared Flakes. After touching the ice block Zeech's hand started getting covered in ice. i sensed a magical barrier surrounding the ice block. that would not melt under magic or flame, nor would it break from steel or blade. so with his ice covered fist Zeech chopped and punched his way through the ice block, and eventually freed the rapier from its Icey prison, pulling it out by its hilt. Flakes seemed exited. Zeech arm got covered in a layer of ice, all the way up to his elbow. I suspect it might be cursed, but then again it might not be. Bort hoised us all up again, and I waved goodbye to Flakes, who now allowed us to get past. We made our way down from the mountain and made camp by a river .Fearing Zeech would have night terrors with his rapier attached to his arm, i decided to sleep far away from him. Haraldr woke me up wanting me to sit watch. which was fine i guess, I spent the time fiddling with my gears. Thinking about the ice creature, and the strange rapier that had caused Zeech’s arm to get frozen and attached to his hand, covering it with a thick layer of ice. Once I got bored I woke up Bort, as I think it was his turn to sit watch. The next morning Zeech was obsessed with something on his arm. but i couldn’t see anything but his fine feathers. so i plucked one to use as a quill. Zeech seemd suprised and just sat there staring dumbfounded at me. I checked my aura gage and again the magic powers of the area had changed, strange area this is. Once me and Nichrome put our magicle senses on it, some dormant magic awakened and Zeech arm took on a life on its own, and tried to blast Bort with ice! Since it seemd we might have to fight him, i powered up my defensive barrier. Aaaaand that’s when it happened again. just like back at the wonderful workshop where i worked so many years ago when my powers first came. A massive blinding explosion appeared at my feet, burning and throwing me back with massive force, in the aftermath i looked over at Nichrome who had taken the exsplosion full force right in his face. he looked quite injured. His donkey, Leeroy was however was a smouldering corps.. Why do donkeys keep getting hurt when im near! WHY!? Bort and Haraldr escaped the blast as they were grappling Zeech to the ground a few paces away from where the exsplosion had happened. But i think he broke free, as he took to the skies and landed on the other side of the river. Where i couldn’t see what was happening, but the sound was that of a struggle, and the sound of more energy burst coming from the renegade rapier. Then i suddenly found myself in a very bright place, I think I just stood there confused, looking around I was clearly no longer at the campsite, Gone was the smouldering corps of leeroy. But after a few seconds the campsite came snapping back into place, and i was back. Bort the poor thing looked at me with a look of utter confusion, a look im sure I shared with him. Zeech was shouting for us to flee. so i started crawling away from the area, while Haraldr shouted for Zeech to get control of his arm or he’d shoot him. As i crawled away i saw the charred Nichrome huddled behind another one of his dirt walls. I shouted that I my apologies saying it was an accident. And through cracked charred lips he responded saying he understood. I do hope he’l forgive me. i made my way away into some brushes. When Zeech started shouting that he thinks whatever was happening was over. I also shouted to the group that I think my magic was back under control, but I was going to stay at a distance to be on the safe side. Once we were sure it was all over, we took a short rest to regain our strength. We then gathered up our things, and decided it be best to head back to haven, as we realised none of us had any healing powers, note to self: Make sure we have someone who is skilled in the healing arts with us on the next adventure. On our way across the mountain ridge we again ran into Flakes, who was happy to see us, Bort in particular, after some nudging and cuddles it formed a mouth and smiled at us. Patting it and saying goodbye I was surprised to hear it respond, saying “ farewell gnome”. Since it had started speaking the party came to a halt to ask it some questions, before wich I informed it I had named it Flakes, and that my name was Sprocket. Flakes told us that it wanted us to bring with us the sword, as another elemetal named Arctantis was inside it. It had been Flakes only company for quite some time, but it had told Flakes it wanted to leave, so Flakes had tried to get us to take it with us. Nichrome, or Zeech? I don’t rely remember who asked, but one of them asked , or was it Bort?. Anyway one of them asked Flakes if it would like to come with us as well, I assumed it was because Flakes would simply melt if he left the cold mountain top. But Flakes explained that it was bound there by powerful magic, made by Iglis. And that the could not leave. And that our power was nowhere near strong enough to free him. So with that we said goodbye to Flakes, saying we hoped to see him again. And made way back the camp, Then Haven. Despite his hand being locked to a rapier, Zeech made more maps on the way back. One of which had a lovely picture of Flakes on it. -(- A copy of my adventure story would be sent to Oleg, my pen pal-)-

Session 102: An Icy Hand Job Present: Zeech, Aarakockra, Monk lvl 3 (Sam) Nichrome Weiss, Human, Warlock/Sorcerer lvl 2 (Sam D S) CogNutz, Rock gnome, Wild sorceress lvl 3 ( Simen M) Bort, Goliath, Fighter Lvl 3 ( Hairy0tter) Haraldr, Human Varient, Archer/Fighter lvl 3 ( Wolf R I ) Hello Elucis, I'm afraid that things aren't going too good. Things are getting heated her in Haven with me and I could really need you guys. It's nothing I can't deal with but I miss you guys and I have no one to turn to right now. I have people I can enjoy the company of and people I can trust with my life. But I have no one to talk to, no one who I trust with my worries. I would like you guys to return even if it's just for a day because I really miss you two. Anyway I should tell you guys about my last mission. Like I told you guys I took some time to train and gather some new skills. I learned how to make maps, so I'll be able to map out some Sithi ruins for you guys if you need me to. The guy I work for pays me for all the maps I make so I'm able to get some gold for my work. And I'm able to traverse the area better thanks to the maps I'm making. So with this time spent on Haven I have felt restless and eager to go on another mission. This was my first mistake. I was sitting in the Tipsy mermaid like I usually do and chatting with Ivilion when a short Gnome and a medium sized Human burst into the inn proclaiming that they wanted people to join them on a mission to the Borian. Though trust me when I say that it sounded way worse out of their mouths. I immediately got the feeling they were just a group of buffoons. A man with the most wrath inducing voice I have ever heard walked up to them Haraldr. I'm thinking of putting a bounty on his head just to get rid of his annoying voice filling the tipsy mermaid on late evenings and early mornings. And I haven't even gotten to his personality. He is trigger happy and foolish, he calls himself the best archer in the world. I would like to see him go against a acquaintance of mine, this acquaintance has dealt with Haraldr before and let me tell you he was not impressed. After Haraldr joined the clown band I saw Bort the Goliath stand up and walk over to them and I felt like he was too forgiving to these idiots so I decided that this might be a good time to get out and settle my restlessness. And besides, what is the worst thing that can happen I thought to myself. That was my second mistake. The human introduced himself as Nichrome. After some talking during our journey he seems like less of a buffoon than my first impression of him seemed. But the Gnome Cognuta or Cognutz I'm not sure actually. She, he or whatever seems way worse than my first impression made him seem. I tried to avoid them during the boat ride but Bort, who maybe had realized what he had gotten himself into stayed nearby to me during the boat ride since I was probably the most familiar face in the party. I didn't mind he is after all a big shield and besides he did try and save me last mission so I now he can be trusted with my life at least. When we arrived on the Borian decided it would be a good time to try out my map making skills so I started making a map for the surrounding area of Camp Galv while the others talked to Elijah. After they returned we decided to stay in the camp for the night and rest up and that gave me an opportunity to make a better map which I did and this one turned out way better than the first one. The morning after we started making our way west which was in the direction we were supposed to find a earthen tree that required investigation. The captain told us to follow the mountain range. I made some more great maps on my way towards the mountains. Thankfully Nichrome had a mule and a cart I could sit in while making my maps. During our first night we slept nearby the base of the mountains below a cliff. Nichrome made a earthen wall for us to seek cover in. The walls surprised me to say the least but I have learnt to ignore the mages and their magic. During the night we were visited by Azfael again. He tried to steal some of our gold but luckily I had left my purse at home so there wasn't much for him to steal from me. Haraldr caught him attempting to sneak into Nichromes tent. He woke everyone up and attacked Azfael. I told him multiple times to not underestimate him. Bird Bird is magical and unstable, not someone you want to have to deal with. Eventually he left with some of Haraldr's gold and a toy that Cognutz gave to Azfael. Me and Haraldr got into a small fight but we then tried to go back to sleep. Before the night was over we were attacked by a gigantic beetle but it was nothing hard to deal with so we killed it and went back to bed. We kept on traveling and made our way up the mountain. We found multiple ways but they all seemed very dangerous so we moved to different paths until we found one that seemed safe. We were afraid of an avalanche so I said that I could walk first and in a worst case scenario I could fly away. I made my way slowly towards the other end of the mountain. When I was almost across a I was attacked by a magical ice blast which sent ice spikes protruding out of the snow luckily I managed to step out of the way in time but the spikes still pierced part of my leg hurting like hell but it was manageable, I thought to myself that it was better than being impaled by the ice spikes. I looked back to the others and they gestured for me to walk around the ice spikes that remained in the snow. And so I did, but not before trying to trigger it with a arrow. Nothing happened so I tried stepping on it. This time I was ready and the ice spikes only graced me but they still remained. After I triggered the second trap the snow behind the spikes started gathering into a snow ball that grew and grew while I backed away. Eventually the gigantic snowball stopped growing and just hovered there and letting out some hums from time to time. I made my way back to the others and asked them what we should do. I said I think we should find another way around and not try to get into a fight with a elemental while on top of a mountain with a two hundred foot drop and a avalanche ready to happen right above us. Nichrome suggested attacking it and I reminded him that we are in the worst place possible to fight them. I also mentioned that the elemental and the spikes can be separate since a similar thing happened on my last mission with the fire bridge and a water elemental. I suggested just running through and dealing with the pain. Bort decided to move up and try to just talk to the elemental which had seemed docile up until now. Bort slowly made his way through the spikes and started humming next to the elemental. It took a liking to Bort and tried to direct him to the edge of the cliff. We were unsure of it's intentions so we tied a rope to Cognutz and tied the other end to Bort and then had Cognutz walk up to the edge and check, the elemental realized what we were trying to do and so it froze Bort's feet so he could be a better anchor. I trusted the elemental and so I assumed he meant no ill. Cognutz could see a cave about a hundred feet down. Haraldr wanted for us to just move on and didn't want anything to do with climbing down the mountain but seeing as the elemental stopped us from moving on so we didn't that much of a choice. I flew down to the cave to have a look and I could see a ice block with what seemed like a rapier inside it. When I got up and told the others all of a sudden Haraldr started boasting about his climbing skills and how he wanted to come down and help investigate the cave. Seeing as how he acted when i told him to not attack Azfael but he still did I did not trust him not to do something stupid so I was against him coming with. Besides me and Cognutz were the obvious choice since i could fly and she would be the easiest one to lower down with a rope. Nichrome suggested he be brought with since he had knowledge of fire and could maybe melt the ice, I thought his knowledge of the arcane would be more useful so I was ok with this. We entered the cave and started making different attempts at getting the rapier out. I eventually thought of the time at the bridge and so I touched the block and asked "May I pass?" I felt my hand starte freezing getting covered in a thin sheet of ice. With my hand I hit the the ice and saw it starting to crack so I didn't stop and with enough time I could grab it. The elemental which Cognutz named "Flakes" seemed happy with the rapier being free. When I grabbed the handle and pulled it out of the ice block some thick ice surrounded my arm and grew up to my elbow. I had no time to react and since there was nothing I could really do I froze up a little. When we got up from the cave my arm was still stuck in the ice and Flakes seemed happy to let us go. I pointed to Bort's feet and hummed to see if Flakes could remove the ice and he just bumped into my rapier and hummed too, so I tried touching the ice with the rapier which was still stuck in my hand. And the ice around Bort's feet turned into water and some of it moved up to my arm but not all of it. This made me very hesitant on touching more ice. But the mule had to get past the ice so I had to turn and remove the spikes. I wanted for us to return so I could get my arm checked out but the others still wanted to finish the mission. So we traveled down the mountain and made a camp by a river close to the base of the mountain. I asked that the others would let me rest the entire night so I could rest out after the whole ice carrying thing. I rested next to Bort and something must have happened during the night cause he looked uncomfortable when I woke up but I have no idea why and never bothered to ask. The ice was gone and I could see a blue dagger tattoo on my arm where the ice used to be. I asked Nichrome and Cognutz to please examine my arm for arcane energy. They did something and what ever they did caused some reaction because the rapier appeared out of no where and since I knew what happened to Fritz I knew what this meant. So I tried to put as much distance between me and the others before anything happened. I would prefer not to talk about what happened next but suffice to say magic is not my friend and it remains unstable. After everything that happened we made our way back since we were in no shape to keep on going and on out way back we ran into Flakes again. He forced a mouth into his body by carving one with Bort's morningstar. He said that he was bound to the mountain by someone named Iglis and that we didn't posses the magic to undo the binding. Flakes also told us the thing on my arm was a elemental named Arctantis. He wished to leave the mountain and see the world so he bound himself to me in order to leave the cave. I think we need to talk with each other and get along. Or we might kill each other and I don't think either of us wants that. That was my last mission to the Borian. I made a new friend and I'm going to talk to Fritz, since he has gone through something similar I can maybe ask him for help on the matter. But like I said in the beginning, I would like for you guys to return. It's worse feeling alone when there are people around you than it is actually being alone. - Zeech

It is me Haraldr le best Archer (in hitting) and i write to you all in concern. After the last adventure with a band of quite capable adventures except for two... i will explain in this short report of our adventures into Borian. A nice place it it wasn't for all them possessions and elementals I will start out tale for a magical looking male and -sighs- Cognutti formerly known as Cognutz came blasting into the Tipsy mermaid asking for people to an advanture of... well we didn't recieve an explaination at the time but i did ask them if the place invovled a cavesysten or that we had to travel at night. Happy to hear i woudn't want to be limited by the Human weakness of darkness i eagerly took part in this. After me came a huge man Monsieur Bort. He seemed like quite the capable man and to my knowledge.. he was. and Lastly we would get a birdman. Zeech. Before we left i send a letter to Lady Lorwyn Buttersworth about an invitation to the Redvale festivals. Surely she would accept. After that i met the lads on the boat and we took off, hearing alot of whining about long days ahead, i found it my duty to inform the Monsieur that the days are not actually gonna be any longer then usual. He took note of that. We arrived in a place i been once before... An Iron Brigade camp named Camp Galv. We solved their problem with a man who didn't want to leave peacefully but seemed like the soldiers.. nor the captain himself had appriciated it at all, in the matter of fact the Captain of the camp was rather unhappy to see me and ordered me out of his tent when we walked in. I can only presume the man is an ingrateful... grump for us solving his problem. Monsiuer Chrome went in and talked to him instead as Birdman required my assistance for something. The next day we were out starting out walking slowly and carefully as Birdman where making some maps of the area close by to camp. he seemed to take great care as he was making these maps but wasn't something i but much effort in studying but these maps would surely be of help for the people next out here. The day went on and we didn't make much of progress at this day but the night didn't go quetly. During the last watch, My watch... i spotted a bird trying to steal Monsieur Nichromes Money pouch. I promptly stopped the bird from doing so... expertly hitting the the pouch and not the Monsieur it seemed to have awaken everyone. Then i noticed the bird having a pouch on it allready as it tried to fly off. Not letting a damn bird having someone's money i promptly shot at it again this time missing the pouch.. but hitting the bird itself, it didn't seemed amuzed by it and came down and spitted an odd sort energy at me. It missed both its shots before Cognutz gave it a toy of some short and let it fly away with the pouch again. I shot at it again this time hitting the pouch making some gold fall out. The Bird didn't return and flew off. After this Birdman came and hit me, first one i dodged the second one found home. I asked the Birdman what he was doing and it seemed that the Birdman had no issues with the bird stealing MY money which i had figured out going through my sack earlier. He even went oso far to claim the my money wasn't even mine and that i should "share" it. Thats when i returned his favor from earlier and promply hit him back. Now in Hindsight it was probably a mistake of mine to presume a birdman would have any idea on what belongs to others and that gold gives food to ones mouth. After i hit back we had a few seconds of quiet time before we spotted a glowing ball of light above our camp. it was an glowing elemental beetle of sort but we quickly took care of that. Bort did an amazing impression as a beetle one and we had a laugh. The morning after which was but an hour or 2 after the beetle we headed out again today being stopped by a mountain and its dangerous paths. Doing wrong here would mean instant death. No one survives falling hundreds and hundreds of feet. We eventually found a crossing that wasn't narrow and we could bring our donkey with us. It was prone to having an avalanche of there was any loud noises. Birdman was out of the goodness of his peck checking for the rest of us. This is where they found and made friends with an Ice elemental they named Flakes. After what felt like hours or the humming to it and going into an cave with the birdman coming out with an rapier and... his arm cover on magical ice. We were eventually allowed to pass by "Flakes" and walked down the mountain on the other side. We set up camp next to a river seemingly coming out from a cave. The night went as peacefully as the last one... and by that i mean Birdman's arm woke up and tried to kill us all... at the same time as Cognutti once again "accidently" went of and almost burned Monsieur Nichrome alive. The donkey we had with us wasn't so lucky and was turned to ash... provong that this is the 3rd assault on living humanoids and the 2nd dead donkey by the hands of Cognutti. I want it to be known to all companies and houses that Cognutii/Cognuts is a danger to adventures and the people around him whenever he is doing any.. magic stuffs. After this... we made a hastily retreat back to Haven as having an bird man's arms trying to kill us and a untrustworthy Cognutti we couldn't proceed. And with that it concludes our short and yet quite dangerous travels... and i do urge any advantures that any who travel with the now female Gnome with an electric tube backpack takes great care at staying away from him. he is unstable and dangerous and i don't think he should be allowed to travel while he can't' control himself... he is going to kill someone one of these days.. and then it's not going to be a donkey. - Haraldr

Session 103: Back and forth is just as far. Present: Dain, Dwarf Cleric 3, (Luchi) Rath, Dragonborn Sorcerer 4, (Mark) Sâemus, Halfling Monk 1, (Jimmy) Lyndis Silverleaf & Shade, Wood Elf & Wolf, Lvl 1 and lvl 1, (Wolf) Sprocket, Gnome Sorcerer 3, (Simen M) Althea Amakiir, Half Elf Bard 3, (VRH) We set out from Haven on the 2 nd of Mittern and arrived in the evening on the 4 th of Mittern, after heading to camp Kelna and informing the white horse mage Cyna we were leaving. We set immidiately so we would be back before the sun got up the next morning. This time, traveling along the coast. As we passed the oval hills and the stacked driftwood we heard screams coming from inland, this sounded more like warnings than cries of distress and we had a time limit so we kept going. We made it to the cave and the entrance was barred, so Rath pushed the rock that was now blocking the entrance we made last time so we made it back inside in short order. On a side note, curiously we were set upon by two shadow goblins, like those we encountered at the mad shrine. I am curious if it was them who was screaming at us or if that was something else, this should be investigated at some point. Inside we found Jeff, we talked. A lot. Nothing new was really learn, read log #100 for more details on our previous encounter. Cyna noted something in her book and after a while we were ready to leave, we headed back to camp Kelna and sailed for Haven again not too long after. Arriving back on the 7 th of Mittern. Althea Amakiir, Associate of the White Horses, and Norn of Dagerii.
Session 103: The one without any gnomish calamities Present: Dain, Dwarf Cleric 3, Luchi Rath, Dragonborn Sorcerer 4, Mark Shæmus, Halfling Monk 1, Jimmy Lyndis Silverleaf & Shade, Wood Elf & Wolf, Lvl 1 and lvl 1, (Wolf) Sprocket, Gnome Sorcerer 3, (Simen M) Althea, Half Elf Bard 3, (VRH) Another quiet day in Haven interrupted by a crazy gnome. Male, female, makes no difference to me; all of the tiny people look the same. He or she, let's just refer to Cognuts as it from now on. It had come up with another hare-brained scheme involving an ox, a cart, and a mechanical man. I was not inclined to join him but he had food and I felt like I could eat so I figured why not? I could always keep him at arms 30 foot poles length in the event it causes another magical mishap. When I joined the cart, I saw he had already rounded up a motley crew of unsuspecting adventurers who were no doubt tricked into tagging along. Dain and Althea I had met previously, but the rest of them were strangers to me. Particularly strange was this bald, short, man with an array of dots on his forehead and a garishly loud cloth outfit. There was also an elf and her dog but I would expect nothing less from a forest elf. It is likely they were also promised treats. We were tasked with escorting a White Horse mage, Cyna, to see the construct. The journey was uneventful until we reached the beach. Flanked on our right by steep cliffs and on our left by the sea, we proceeded cautiously down the narrow strip of sand. Althea warned us about the gelatinous cube monsters but fortunately we did not encounter one. At the end of the beach we spotted the raft described in previous scouting reports. It lay in the same spot as before. Still made of metal; still welded together and lying in the sand. It did not appear to be rusting despite being exposed to the elements. Our party was dismayed to find the cave entrance blocked by rocks. Dain's war hammer was somewhat effective at breaking through but in the end I had to push the smaller of the two rocks aside. The smaller folk are fortunate I was here because even the small rock easy exceeded the mass of their diminutive bodies. As the entrance was cleared, shadow goblins ambushed us from behind; wounding Cyna with their necrotic bolts. The accident-prone gnome and Dain took care of the goblins. For once, his/her/it's magic functioned as intended. In the mean time, Lyndis squeezed into the cave deploying a rope to assist the rest of us. Everyone managed to get into the relative safety of the cave when Cyna decided to collect a mushroom sample. Not me though, I have had quite enough of mushroom samples after all the time spent in Makra. We found the metal man dubbed "Jeff" by who knows what sort of person. It spoke a language no one outside of Althea recognized so she acted as our translator. Cognuts was head over heels in love with this talking machine and poor Althea had to translate his incessant questions. After Cyna was satisfied we departed, leaving "Jeff" where we found him as taking it with us presented too many problems. And so it would seem bringing the ox and card was a wasted effort but at least nothing went horribly wrong. Perhaps being reincarnated has cured Cognuts of whatever it was that drove him so batty. Nevertheless, I am keeping my 30 foot pole.

Session 103: Back and forth is just as far. A gnomes tale part 5 of ??? Dain, Dwarf Cleric 3, Luchi Rath, Dragonborn Sorcerer 4, Mark Shæmus, Halfling Monk 1, Jimmy Lyndis Silverleaf & Shade, Wood Elf & Wolf, Lvl 1 and lvl 1, (Wolf) Sprocket, Gnome Sorcerer 3, (Simen M) Althea, Half Elf Bard 3, (VRH) After hearing of an expedition to Ardaal where another group of adventures had discovered some working constructs!! And that the horses was putting on another expedition there I naturally I made haste to attend the adventure, So after finding the flier with the info and eating it. i made haste and with Althea in tow I ran (Atlhea just walked slightly faster) towards the tipsy mermaid to gather up willing guards, ehm adventurers to help escort a representative of the white horses, who was already at camp kelna in Ardaal. At the tipsy mermaid we found, after some luring/persuading, a willing group. There was Dain the dwarf whom had shared in my first adventure, as well as the Dragonborn Rath, a hafling named Shæmus, and lastly a Elf woman with a wolf companion, she didn’t speak much, but after luring her into my cart using some food I got her to join us. Not sure she knew where we were going. I managed to get her name much later, Lyndis she called herself. Now there was some awkwardness with both Rath and Dain, as last time I travled with them, I was in my old body. And it took some convincing and sharing of detailed events that had happened on said travels to make them believe I was really myself. Pfft. Like anyone else could have fashioned a device such as the Store’O’Zapper, Dux suspected I might have stolen it, ha! I don’t think anyone would have the slightest idea on how to maintain its power. After taking the boat to Ardaal we made our way to camp Kelna, it was a slow journey due to my cart and oxen, as well as the fact we were traveling at night, due to Althea warning us that the area was very dangerous during the daytime. The party seemed paranoid after reading some reports that detailed my ‘incidents’ regarding my Store’O’Zapper, Rath in particular, who kept pointing a long pole at me, as to measure his distance between himself and me. Cant really say I blame them I’d be uneasy to, but then again I can usually feel it coming, and once it dose its no use worrying about it. Once there we asked around for Cyna, the white horse member that we were to escort. We were told we could find her in the captains tent, judging by the ruckus that came from the tent, Cyna and the captain was not getting along to well. The guards said it was normal, so we just waited for her to be done. While we waited I learned that there had been a deactivated construct in this very camp! Found by the previous party to explore the area, and it had been shipped to haven for study. How have I not heard anything of this?! The weirdos at the horse should’ve come to me the second they learned of this! Bastards.. As Althea had advised us to travel during the night we set out as soon as Cyna was ready to leave. Since she had been with the previous group that had discovered the constructs, Althea lead the way, also saying to be on the lookout, as last time there were some creatures following them. As we followed the shore we started hearing ear shattering screams coming from the plains. We decided it was best to stay clear, and continued our trail. We found the raft and cave entrance just where Althea said it would be, The Cave entrance was blocked, so after trying everything we could think of to move the giant rocks that was blocking the path. Dain and Rath eventually just started pushing the rock inwards and managed to open a small gap where we could squeeze through, as Lyndis and her wolf disappeared inside the gap, Cyna screamed in agony as she had been struck by a bolt. On top of a cliff we saw some shadowy goblinish forms dart back and forth, Raining down bolts on the party. I caught a glimpse of one of the creatures as it came back for another shot at Cyna, and nailed it with a fire bolt and it just went POOF, as if it was just made of shadowy smoke. Althea was shouting for us to beware the bolts, as they were poisoned or something. The goblin creatures kept on darting back and forth continuing the downpour of bolts, I caught on in my shoulder, and the others shouted for me to get into the cave, the others had already started to make their way inside so I ran for it. Inside the cave Rath put his healing touch on me to seal the wound left by the bolt. By the sounds of the struggle and spells going off outside it must have been quite the battle. Once fit for fight again I ran back outside to aid Dain and Althea who was holding off foul creatures. But once I’d gotten there the fight was over. Must have been some fight,Dain said there must’ve been at least five or six of them. Quite impressive! Dain must have gotten incredibly strong since last I ventured with him. Althea had managed to let loose my oxen, and lead it into the mouth of the cave, away from the rain of bolts. She must be really brave! To risk such a task while under attack by so many enemy’s. This selfless act to rescue my ox went along way to make up for her unwillingness to share any information about her last trip here, every time i asked, and I asked a lot! She would merely say that id get to see for myself. The battle over, and with everyone inside the cave, we were lead towards the tunnel where we supposedly would find ‘jeff’. I was very eager to meet it, and but had to stifle myself as Cyna cept going from mushroom to mushroom, plant to plant to collect ‘smaples for her study’, ugh. I busied myself by carving Cog marks into the cave wall, as I like to do. Finaly we got to see ‘jeff’ AND WHAT A MARVELOUS SIGHT HE WAS! Just as I had imagined, and just like the pictures in my grate grate grandfathers notebook. I tried to greet it in Veyc, my native tongue. But I don’t think it understood me, as it just somehow repeated what I had just said IN MY VOICE! Just… just fascinating! Cyna however seemed insistent on having words with hit before I did… Through Althea’s translation we learned that ‘jeff’ and the other constructs ( Jeff was the only one capable of speech, the other ones function was more akin to that of, guards?) Had come here through the mysts on their metal raft. Most of this has apparently already been documented in Altheas adventure log so il skip to the interesting parts!. Once Cyna was content with the information ‘jeff’ had to share, I had Althea translate my questions and requests. ‘ jeff ‘ seemed to take a liking to me, and was very helpful with my questions about his power source. He allowed me to take a full inspection of him, it was really impressive workmanship! See my schematic’s for details on his functions. After which he even allowed to let me look inside his body! By removing his armor plates to let me get a good look at his inner cog works! ‘Jeff’ had surely seen better days, so I gave him a tune ‘up and oil change, it was soooo satisfying! After learning of his physical functions and construction, he agreed to try and let go of his layline power source, and try to feed of my Store’O’Zapper’s powers. At first I tried using the power diverter tube that I had used to power the machine with the levers down in the temple we found in Makra. ‘Jeff’ barely touched it with his fingertip and it caused the power tube to explode! But ‘jeff’ was quite pleased, he seemed a little more energized from it, and wanted to try feeding directly from the Store’O’Zapper’ssource. Not wanting to risk whatever might happen from this, I convinced him to just try and touch me instead, which he did. After placing his palm on my shoulder I feared I was about to have an accident, as the tingling sensation of my magic surging through my body, but it must have found an outlet , as it just channeled into ‘jeff’ who looked even more pleased then before. He told me I was a source, I think that’s a compliment.. Once I was done fiddling and experimenting with ‘jeff’ Shæmus had a question to ask him, he had a picture ofa strange coin, I lost interest and instead joined Cyna in making some sketches of ‘jeff’. Cyna contempt with the info she had gotten said it was time to leave and go back to haven. Before we went I had Althea ask if jeff would want to come with us, to wich he said he could not. but if we brought a boat, and a power source. I shall have to fashion another device like my store’o’zapper and use the other magic users of the horse to fuel it, (see schematic 42.1 B ) I was sad to leave ‘jeff’ but also very excited to get back to haven to try some of my ideas! I will need to acquire more materials, and a bigger workspace. We made it back to Camp before dawn, and without a hitch, smooth sailing all the way. Once back in camp Cyna handed us a paper that would see us paid on our return to haven, and went right back into the captains tent to continue fighting or screwing him, to be honestI have no idea on what that whole thing is about. The boat ride back to haven is taking forever! --- Journal stops here, there are some readable scribbles at the end saying ‘ dock you dumb boat!’ at the end --- CogNutz would go straight to the white horses and demand to see the construct that was brought inn.

Session 104: The mighty quest for Peters Taint. Althea Amakiir, Half Elf Bard 3, (VRH) Rath, Dragonborn Sorcerer 4, (Mark) Dain, Dwarf Cleric 3, (Luchi) Kent Clarkson, Human bard lvl 1. ( Simen M ) Nichrome, Human warlock/sorcerer 3 (Sam D S) Lyndis & Shade, Wood elf Rogue 01, Wolf Canine 01 (Wolf)) Tanin, Human lvl 3 cleric, Marco m Having been busy heralding *Antoio's* arrival i haven’t had a chance to scout ot the local hotspots, that is to say places outside of Haven. So after spotting a few of them fellows from the White horse, which i understand to be the mage's collage of the town, was putting on a exploration expedition into the cave system called Makra. So i approached and mingled with them, and as i tought they offered to take me with them. Some I’ve seen around the taverns before. Except for a strange woodland elf, and her wolf companion. But they looked to be experienced enough so i tagged along. After taking a ferry crewed by a slightly crazed man, who kept pestering the drunken dwarf to make a bet with him about whether or not someone would die on the trip. The dwarf, Dain threw some gold at him and went back to sleep. Fond of skullbuster this dwarf. We came to a strange looking stone archway, a portal to another place. At least so the woman sitting at a desk in front of it said it was. A man named Haraldr had joined us on the trip to the portal area, saying he had some buisnisse to attend to there, But not before flirting with the .eehm.. secretary? portal guardian? i don’t know, but successful he was not. I gave her one of my pamphlets, which se seemed quite impressed whit ( i think its the pictures, they do help create 'awe!' ). Through the portal was a small campsite, with tents. The man Haraldr wasted no time in completing his task. Which was to present a rather lovely woman an Silver arrow, a trophy from the Redvale event i heard about. Clearly some chemistry between the two, as both she and him was blushing. It didn’t last long however as Dain carried out the Portal guardians request of slapping Haraldr for flirting with her, And The lady, Butterworth was informed of Haraldr's flirting of another woman, clearly scorn she retreated to her tent refusing to further deal with us. As Haraldr had to wait at the camp to be able to return through the portal he was inn for an awkward time, poor man. We sat out to explore the caves of Makra, Iv heard of the cave system that it was, but no one came close to retelling how fucking hot this blasted underground cooking pot is! As we travelled i quickly drained my water skin, once we made camp i asked the Dwarf, Dain if the two barrels he had brought strapped to his donkey was filled with water, and if i could have some. He seemed rather eager to offer me some of his drink, which was indeed skullbuster... The rest of the evening is kind of a haze, i do recall a dragon making me a grilled cheese, though that might have been a dream...and there was that Troll king that had kidnapped the princess of cheese. The troll king was mighty and had managed to grab me by the neck and attempted to strangle me! somehow I slayed the troll king and rescued princess Cheese wheel, who I spent a wild night with. I woke up in total darkness, with the haze of the dwarfs brew gone realize im still in Makra. And the ordeal with the troll king and the princess must have been a dream. Continuing our exploration, we came across a strange man sitting by a tree, a underground tree. Althea was the one to translate for us, as he spoke a strange tongue. The man was just sitting there, dropping things into the water pond, Moreth was his name, Althea has a lengthy chat with the strange man. He appeared to be quite mad, and Tanin seened sure that he was evil, and that he was attempting to regrow the forest of shadow? So sword in hand ha approached the man. As soon as Tanin approached shadowy tendrils formed out from the tree and starting lashing out at the ones unfortunate enough to get close, And spells went flying everywhere, Althea got nailed by a fire ball, but with Dains help she got back up, meanwhile Moreth the strange man creature had fallen, and with a splash fell in the pond, and started sinking as shadowy tendrils started to envelop him. With a searing bolt of fire, Nichrome hit the dark core of the strange tree and split it in half. By the looks of things the dark tendrils were sucking the life out of Moreth, and despite Althea’s best efforts to try and heal him, it looked to be in vain. Meanwhile our holy man was doing holy stuff to the pond to clear it of its corruption. One of the Black buggers managed to leave its mark on me, hopefully it’l come off. Althea beat me to the body of the man, and found a nice looking dagger. And on our travel back I attempted to sneak a peak at it whiteout her knowing, but she caught me in the act, and threatened to cut off my hands should I try that again. Back at camp we told The lady Butterworth about our encounter with the strange man. I showed Lady lorwyn the mark on my neck, and she told me to seek out Oswald to have a look at it, all the while keeping her distance from me, hope this isn’t serious. Tanin commented that it could be shadow sickness. I’l have tovisit this Oswald as soon as I get back to haven, but maybe not as Kent, would be bad for business to have a sick bard perform in taverns… certainly not a good way to spread the word of Antonio, for when he arrives. And I think it might be time he dose.
Session 105: Rock Hard Wood Present: Sâemus, Ghostwise Halfling, Monk 1 (Jimmy) Zeech, Aarakockra, Monk lvl 3 (Sam) Dain, Dwarf, cleric lvl 3 (luchie) Ferhem, Dragonborn Fighter/Warlock lvl 4 (Clarence) Bort, Goliath, Fighter Lvl 3 (Hairy0ter) Fritz, Human Cleric/Wizard lvl 3 (Sam D S) I Zeech for some reason have been tasked with writing this log for the White Horses and the Iron Fist recalling the events of our adventure to the stone tree. We all gathered and made our way towards tree which we knew was to the west. The walk was boring and quick, we made our way over the mountains without hassle. The first issue arrived when we were a days travel away from the mountains. During the night we awoke to the air in the area becoming noticeably colder. I asked Arc if we were safe and he said "Not safe" I told everyone to back off and stay away from Fritz since I knew what this meant. He came out of his tent and started walking north in what seemed like a almost drunken state. Bort probably seemed confused as to what was happening and just stood still as Fritz was walk by him. Ferhem disregarded my warnings and walked up to Fritz anyway. I got ready to knock Fritz out so he wouldn't be able to hurt anyone since Ferhem was setting up combat. Fritz reacted to Ferhems approach by attacking with some kind of ice magic, Bort stepped away without issue but Ferhem and his hounds were not as lucky. I responded by trying to knock him out before he would hurt anyone. Ferhem and his dogs also responded by attacking. Fritz asked us to please not attack and just let him walk away and he would deal with it. I stood down and tried to get Ferhems dogs away but they would not listen. Ferhem kept on attacking even though Fritz asked him to walk away. As Fritz was knocked unconscious Ferhem tried to walk away and one of Fritz's arms attacked Ferhem anyway, it seemed he was not in full control of his body. Dain ran up and attended to his wounds, Fritz woke up and again told everyone not to attack and he would leave to make sure we wouldn't be hurt. He got up and ran into a ditch right next to him. After which he covered himself in earth up to his head. After a few seconds he said it was over. I dug him up as Dain gave him some alcohol to calm his nerves. At some point during the combat our little halfling had disappeared and I assumed he ran away and ignored it saying that "if he runs away and gets killed it is not my problem". I then went to sleep. I barely had enough time to fall asleep before we were interrupted again. This time by Azfael, bird bird. I heard Bort yell out that bird bird was there and indeed he was. We talked to him for a while, since our last meeting he has learnt Low Valmari and gained some intelligence. He no longer talks like a child. He still seem to refuse to reveal anything about himself though, except for the fact that he is still helping a legless dragon who is giving him this intelligence. In return for what I don't know, up until now I assumed the things he stole from us gave him favor with the dragon but Bird Bird confirmed that gold was not enough to make the legless dragon give you powers. I can only assume that the crystal he stole from us last time must have had something to do with it, if only I knew then the potential those crystals possessed. He also said that he was known by another name than Bird Bird. I assume he meant Azfael like the woman from the blue city told us but he said that name didn't ring a bell. Not much else was learnt from the conversation. Dain and Sâemus talked to him in Draconic to hide something, I don't know what but it can't be good. We then continued towards the tree and when we reached it we found four wolves standing beneath the tree. We had to first traverse a small river but it was no big issue. The only one who fell in was Bort and I managed to pull him out of the water safely. Ferhem had to leave his horse and his hounds behind, good riddance I say. I managed to make everyone silent enough to sneak up on the wolves but the second I touched the ground too closely to them they all turned. And one by one they disappeared into the ground leaving us in the dark. I took to the sky in order to avoid the wolves, Ferhem had set up caltrops but the wolves did not care for the trap. Ferhem did have the idea to try and hit the ground with a pole so the wolves would come up and attack at nothing. We managed to do this a couple times but then our leech Sâemus got attacked while not ready and he got knocked unconscious immediately. Dain got him up and but was also attacked. We readied ourselves and attacked every time we got a chance. The combat took some time but we managed to kill all the wolves. I'll skip the details but this is the important information. The wolves had a form of tremor sense and could melt into the ground to move and attack. The wolves would enter the tree when they got too damaged and heal. They would try and grapple us and pinn us to the ground. And some of the trees were covered in stone, these trees would attack if we got too close. I would like to note that a party member used blood magic, and for it not to come around and bite me in the ass I would like to mention that Ferhem, after killing one of the wolves used blood magic to regain power. I'm not sure anyone realized it was blood magic other than me. I imagine Dain should have seeing as he is a cleric but for reasons I'll explain now I couldn't ask him. At some point during the fight Dain was struck by a tree and I assume that it had some type of poison. It might have been one of the wolves but the wolves hit everyone and only one person got harmed by the poison so I'll assume it was the tree. A while after we left the tree Dain got turned to stone out of no where. We had no idea what to do so we put him on Fritz magical disk and took him to the Town of Galv. Our trip back home was not entertaining either so I will not bore you to death. We talked to Elijah and were given our gold. We then took Dain to my rented house, I had no issue with keeping him there for the time being, but I don't want to be bothered to deal with him. This has been the log of what happened when we found the stone tree. -Zeech

Session 106: Buggaring About in the North Present: Ffiona; lvl 5 Human Ranger (Seraphina) Archer; lvl 4 Half-Elf Ranger (Daniel B) Desna; lvl 4 Elf Druidess (Pippa B) Trarbon; lvl 4 Dwarf Cleric (Glen) Veranis; lvl 3 Human Wizard (Chris G) Zahnder; lvl 1 Half-elf Warlock (Miles T) Ikol the raven. Some time had passed since my meeting with the White Horse Brigade and an uneasy friendship seems to have been established between Seahold and White Horse Isle. Early this morning a sail bearing the sigil of the White Horse Brigade was sighted nearing the coast. Ffiona and I went down to the beach to greet the White Horse representative who came with a companion; Zahnder Ravenswood. A short half elf with pale whitish pink hair, Zahnder came to Seahold seeking news of his twin brother, Ashton, who he believed to have been kidnapped somewhere nearby. We took Zahnder to meet with Archer who told us of missives sent from Haven warning of troubles to the north and instructing the company to secure the territory held. Having now learned Comprehend Languages from the scroll provided by the White Horses, I completed a ritual to focus the magics and translated the last remaining scroll retrieved from the dwarven statues written in southern Ashanni. The scroll warned that 'the city has come alive, it walks' it stated that nothing else should be returned to the Ashanni. This warning seemed to be a copy of a message seemingly duplicated many times and was in a different hand to that of the other two scrolls written in Southern Ashanni. The city referred to in the message was referred to as 'the City of Five.' I asked my companions if they had heard of this before but no-one had. It seemed from the scroll that whatever items the Ashanni had taken from the Dwarven city had resulted in calamity. After I relayed this translation, Crothwyd, Steward of Seahold, requested Archer organise an expedition, as a certain dwarven cleric had been providing a bad example to the workers rebuilding the tower. We discussed the possible locations to which an expedition needs to be made and decided that with the translation of the last scroll, the dwarven city may be best left alone for the time being. Archer asked if I was happy with the decision to abandon further exploration of the statues and the city beneath given this was near where the last known member of my brother's company was found. I assured him that I was not abandoning my search but felt that I may have been too focused on the statues and that there could be information about the fate of the company elsewhere in the north. With the recently received missives we decided it would be best to explore the hills to the north of Seahold and Archer decided to send some scouts to explore the marshes to the north-east. We set out on foot, Zanhder joining us in hopes that we may find clues to the whereabouts of his brother. We headed out along a ridge running to the north with Ffiona scouting ahead. After some time Trarbon found signs of mineshafts seemingly long abandoned. Scattered around the openings were signs of copper ore of poor quality. Studying them further Trarbon identified these as Baelish in origin as there were signs that the Baels had been interring their dead in the pits now they were no longer working them. Ffiona found strange three toed footprints leading down into the pits, and she believed this had been left by a humanoid creature with bird like feet. Near these Trarbon found an arrow head pressed into the ground with a rune carved in it. This appeared to be Baelish and I again used a ritual to allow me to read the rune. It said 'pain' and I sensed that the arrow head was faintly magical. As I was studying the arrow I also sensed magic coming from the mine shaft and looking closer saw a metal ring sunk into the walls of the shaft emanating Abjuration magic. Ffiona used her magic to detect undead nearby and Trarbon explained that the Baels interred their dead in abandoned mines as due to their worship their dead tended to rise. It seemed likely that the ring was meant to prevent any undead from leaving the mine. I went to look at another nearby pit and found that this one seemed to have collapsed and there was no sign of a enchanted ring. Archer made a note of the mine to make sure we could keep watch for any sign that undead were escaping them in the future. We carried on making out way north moving onto another ridge line. We came to what appeared to be an unnatural hollow to the side of the ridge filled with water forming a shallow lake. The water of the lake was extremely clear but tinged very blue seemingly with dissolved particulates from the surrounding rocks. I sent Ikol to take a look at the water and when he returned he told me there were small towers, approximately 100 feet tall, only half their height raising up out of the water. Ikol thought these numbered around 100. I sent Ikol back to take another look and he found two holes in the cliff face, one above water and one underneath the water with stone stairs leading from the top one to the bottom. Archer used his magic to detect nearby creatures and found that there was a God below us. Ffiona insisted on making our way down to find out way to the God and we made our way to the edge of the hollow. On closer look we could see that the towers were arranged in rows with around 10 feet between the towers and half of the towers were submerged. The rooves of a number of the towers seemed to have collapsed. I sent Ikol in to take a closer look at the nearest tower and he found a magical crystal in the top of the tower. I could sense the magic of the crystal was some sort of necromancy. Below this the tower seemed to be hollow but with ten levels each with ledges and on each level two sarcophagi with some sort of mummified corpse. Ikol also saw an opening in the wall at the base indicating something had forced its way in but it was only big enough for a dwarf or halfling. Ikol went back above the lake and I could see that they appeared to be arranged in some sort of arcane pattern designed in a similar way to that used by the Empire to tap into the power of Gods and that there was a crystal in the top of each tower but the arrangement seemed to be non-functional. Ffiona could see a source of magic in the cliff wall above the hole Ikol had found. Again I sent Ikol to take a closer look at the opening and when he returned he told me that there was another crystal hidden behind a veil set into the cliff. The opening in the cliff led into a corridor lined with large brazers and the floor appeared to be carpeted in bones and rusty weapons and armour. Ikol thought he had seen movement as he flew over but had not seen any creatures, Ffiona saw a ripple in the water seemingly following Ikol as he flew back. Desna turned into a giant eagle and took Ffiona to a tower out in the middle of the lake. This had a crystal, which had collapsed from its focusing framework, and may have been the reason the arcane pattern wasn't working. As Desna circled around the tower we heard a screech of alarm and the head of a giant slug appeared on the roof of the tower Ffiona was on. Zahnder lashed out at the slug with eldritch power striking the creature. Trarbon also tried to strike at the slug with magic but missed the magic striking the tower and leaving a deep gauge in the wall. Ffiona used her leafweave to jump to the next tower making her way back and took up a defensive stance focusing on the slug. Desna began flying back and as she landed yelled to us that there were 5 slugs on the tower Ffiona had left with three more just below the top of the cliff edge where we stood. Archer grabbed Desna and pulled her behind him away from the slugs as I began to bladesing. I moved up to the edge using thunder wave to try and knock the slugs off the wall but they were stuck firm. The slugs came over the top and I found myself flanked and being struck at from three sides but used shield to defend myself from the blows. The combined strikes from Ffiona and Zahnder finished the first slug we had seen and Trarbon, Archer and Desna struck at the slug nearest them, Trarbon striking it mightily with his mace. I slashed at the slug but mistimed my blow, my blade missing. I used misty step to move away from the three slugs surrounding me. The slugs moved up striking at the others but one was felled, and another wounded grievously by the combined strikes of my companions as Ffiona made it to the nearest tower. As the slug fell it screeched out in pain but with its mind rather than vocally and a number of us found ourselves injured by this. A third slug fell but Trarbon was knocked unconcious by the third slug on the shore and the slug moved over his motionless form. Ffiona ran up and healed him as the other four slugs began to climb the tower closest to the shore. The slug which had pinned Trarbon was slain by Archer and as the creature screeched out, the four on the tower seemed to curl up and fell off. We saw rippled as they fled back away from the shore. We decided at this point it would be best to regroup and return another day to try to make out way in further.

Session 107: The Grey Flame Abus, Human, Rogue/Warlock lvl 2 (Sam) Tannyll, Human Druid lvl 4 (Niko) Antonio "the Shroud" Human Bard lvl 1 ( Simen M) Althea, Half Elf Bard lvl 3 (VRH) Ekru, human, warlock lvl 2 (luchie) Fritz, Human Cleric, Wizard lvl 3 (Sam D S) Fritz Igor's notes on Borian, Third entry. Copies forwarded to The White Horses. It had only been a day since my return from the expedition to the stone tree as part of another job undertaken for the White Horses but I find myself restless on Borian. Being here is a constant struggle against Scurris' attempts to gain control so something to keep me occupied is always welcomed, but I digress. The morning after my return I happened to come across a fellow White Horses member studying a strange looking book with a compatriot of his. Being the inquisitive sort I decided to go and take a quick peak over their shoulder to see if the contents of the tome were of any interest. It mentioned something called the Grey Flame, I had seen a recent notice by the White Horses asking for information on this item so assumed the task had been undertaken by the pair stood before me. Seeing this as another opportunity to explore some more of Borian I volunteered my services. Before we left I purchased a few maps from The Compass under the recommendation of my friend and more recently student, Zeech. We made our way rather uneventfully in the general direction detailed in the book about the Grey Flame although the directions were vague at best. Eventually we reached the scarred stretch of land that leads to the stone spire where I first met Scurris. As we arrived at the point where we thought we might make camp I heard a whisper in a somewhat familiar voice coming from about a mile away. I knew it must be one of those things that only I could hear as no one else reacted and a whisper shouldn't travel such distance. After some persuasion we headed toward the noise. Upon arriving I saw a white portal which had a slight pull to it, again no one else in the group could see the portal but they also felt it's pull which was reassuring. Abus was becoming increasingly impatient as we tried to decide what to do, saying that she demanded we rest immediately. Scurris began to speak to me in my head at this point telling me to go through the portal and that what we were looking for would be somewhere on the other side. Usually if Scurris suggests something it's a bad idea but what he said made sense. I sent Charles through the portal to scout it out and the other side seemed safe enough so the party agreed that in the morning we would investigate it further. In the morning we set out to explore the realm beyond the white portal. The majority of our group were still reluctant to step through so I volunteered as it was my idea and Kent also stepped forward, though I think this was probably due to him being a little dim. Kent and I stepped through the portal into an entirely new land, we found ourselves on a rather narrow archipelago that seemed fairly safe. I stamped a message onto a nearby stone and tossed it back through the portal. Kent seemed to misunderstand the situation and began throwing stones back in quick succession. Eventually I sent Charles to relay the message and the others appeared. Just as they began coming through the portal I heard a loud thud not too far away followed by some muttered cursing and some softly spoken words of derision, both in voices I recognised. There right before, not only my eyes but everyone else's stood Scurris and Flurris in the flesh (metaphorically speaking of course). Scurris looked a lot like a fiery mephit, whereas Flurris resembled a pixie but shimmered like water. It is a very odd experience to meet the voices in your head face to face and even more so to introduce them to company. After pleasantries were exchanged we were directed toward where we might find the Grey Flame we had been seeking but first we would need to find a boat of sorts. This realm we had found ourselves in is apparently known as the realm of Paraelementals and houses many magical artefacts called contracts which are bound to paraelementals known as protectors. The boat we required was one such contract. With little time to waste we made our way toward the location of Kel'tra, the Ice Breaker. The elemental seemed friendly enough but would not give up the contract freely saying that he would have to be defeated for us to obtain it. At this point I instructed Flurris to remain hidden so as to avoid harm and permitted Scurris to fight if he wished but stipulated that he didn't harm any of my party. Both seemed happy with the plan. After a rather drawn out encounter we eventually defeated Kel'tra and with very few casualties, I had to bring Kent back from the brink of death a couple of times and Scurris continued to show that he could not be trusted by setting Ekru on fire. Abus was the one who ultimately claimed the contract although it would appear that I probably should have been the one to take it as we later found out that the strength of the contract is based on the wielders particular elemental affinities. But hindsight is twenty twenty and there is little to do about it now. The contract appeared to take a toll on Abus but she ultimately succeeded in merging with the stone that held the contract. The boat Abus was able to produce was a little lack-luster unfortunately and couldn't hold our entire party so Flurris had to produce a block for me and Abus' servant to ride on. Roughly half way to our destination we encountered another contract protector which stopped our boat and offered us a riddle to pass or a fight. We attempted the riddle and failed quite miserably. The following fight was a gruelling one and the enemy we faced was a powerful whirlpool paraelemental that attacked with tentacle like strands of water and tidal waves. It was also capable of some high level spell casting which it used to hamper our own casters efforts. I did my best to keep the group alive although it was made difficult by the rate at which they fell. Eventually the creature was felled by a hawk of all things. Flurris retrieved the contract stone for me and we continued to our first checkpoint. Once we made it onto land I made the soul contract with the newly acquired stone, unfortunately the contract was void based, something I have no affinity for whatsoever. Both Flurris and Scurris have told me that void is bad news and shouldn't be tolerated as it will destroy all of Borian if left unchecked (There are very few things they agree upon so this illustrates the severity of this issue). Needless to say the weapon I produced (as this was the nature of the Whirling blade contract) was essentially a toothpick. This was of no concern to me as I want no part of anything void based. I severed the contract with a little help from Althea and gave the stone to Kent, he had been pestering me about obtaining a companion like Flurris since we arrived. The fact Scurris had repeatedly set him on fire and otherwise tortured him throughout our trip didn't seem to change his mind on obtaining an elemental companion. Kent attuned to the weapon a little too well and was immediately a concern to me, Flurris and Scurris. I thought maybe giving him the toothpick would put him off the idea of pursuing the elemental weapons and would be a harmless thing for him to have. For Kent however the toothpick had become a greatsword. After some back and forth I suggested we allow Kent to keep the sword and monitor him closely to make sure nothing of concern happens. It should also be noted that Kent was very pleased with his new contract and was not okay with giving it up, I feel it important to mention this before I say what happens next and to restate the dangers of the void element being let loose on the land. Once the sword was in his hand Kent inadvertently produced a small ball of void energy from the blade, this forced my hand somewhat. While still looking pleased with himself I fired a magic missile at Kent to knock him out and had Scurris remove the stone from him and throw it into the ocean (Scurris is somewhat of an expert on the contracts and seems to be the only one with any expertise in there removal). I immediately revived Kent and attempted to convince him that it had all been a dream. Unfortunately dishonesty is not my strong point and even with the help of Abus (an excellent sower of falsehoods if ever I've seen one) Kent could not be convinced to forget about the sword. The rest of the group, not really understanding the dynamics of the elementals like I have in the past couple months did not look kindly upon my slightly overbearing response to the sword incident but we managed to put it behind us and rested for the night, Kent continued to sulk. The next day we found the cave quite promptly, though at first glance it appeared to be empty. We began to explore but Kent being Kent, charged straight into the centre of the cave on a slightly raised platform. As he did this another protector emerged although this one was different from the others, it was somehow wrong I could feel it. This was confirmed by the horror expressed by both Flurris and Scurris (again, them agreeing was a bad sign). Not only was the protector void based but it was also crystaline and infused with dark deuregar magic. The Protector offered the Grey Flame to Kent freely, this didn't sit right with me either, that isn't how things are done in the pararealm the previous elementals told us as much. Ekru and Abus then also both made a claim for the Flame, I stated my objections. They had seen my reaction to void based elements before and knew that I could not allow them to take this dangerous object from its resting place. I told them that the flame had to stay where it was and that it was far too dangerous to be taken but they wouldn't listen. Ekru knocked out Kent and was just about to take the crystaline constructs offer so I had to act, I put him down quickly, hoping to bring him back to consciousness once we were safely out of the cave. At this point the creature noticed Scurris, he seemed to have some sort of history with it. The creature was not a fan. He offered me an alternate deal, to leave Scurris there with it and we could all leave. This was not something I was willing to do, regardless of how much of a pain Scurris can be, I knew that I couldn't abandon him there. Someone healed Kent's wounds (sometimes I wish I wasn't surrounded by idiots), he immediately got to his feet and accepted the creatures offer. It happened too quickly and I couldn't respond. A grey flame consumed Kent momentarily and then he was fine, at least for a second or two. Suddenly, he began to scream in agony as something burst from his body and formed a monstrous additional appendage. Kent didn't seem himself, he began making his way toward a clustered group of our party. Having been in a similar state myself I knew that nothing good was about to happen. Scurris asked for me to hand over full control to him (I still don't fully understand the specifics of this but both Flurris and Scurris seem to be able to operate at much higher levels of power if I willingly surrender control to them). I know Scurris' philosophies, once he was in control he would not just destroy the Grey Flame, he would likely reduce everyone to ash. Eventually he swore to me that he would only destroy the Flame and no one else would be harmed and seemed genuine in his sentiment that only he could stop it now. I handed over full control... We woke up the next morning still in the cave however Kent was somewhat scorched and I was completely nude but more importantly the Grey Flame was gone and none of us had any memory of what transpired. Scurris had fallen silent, apparently exhausted from the effort required to battle whatever it was that had consumed Kent. After gathering our thoughts and recovering from our relative ordeals we made our way back to Galv. The pararealm appears to have many artefacts worth investigating and it may be worth sending future expeditions to seek out more of these items. Though I would warn that void items should be sealed away and certainly not merged with as they are a threat to Borian itself. Fritz Igor.

Session 109: Between Dwarves and Elves Lives the Ape-people Present: Thamior, Dark Elf Rogue 3, (VRH) Lyndis & Shade, Woof Elf Ranger 2, (Wolf) Lux, Human Rogue 5, (Taleek) Rath, Dragonborn Sorcerer 4, (Mark) Utiprak Ekru, Human Warlock 3, (luchie) 30 th of Sunmar we set sail from Haven towards Khulican, we were to be trailblazers for the Khulican army finding a way through the Forest of Spines, inhabbited by Orillos that had been attacking pretty much anything on sight. The army wanted to get through so they could deal with a tribe of elves known as the Blood Talons. We knew some of the Wardens of Khulican had been through the forest earlier and hoped to talk to one of them to get more information from one of these individuals. After languishing for 6 days on some boat, through hellish heat and summer storms we arrived on Khulican and made our way to the only tavern with an actual roof in fort Vedinia. While there we learned from a trio of native dwarves that the Wardens have all gathered at the Fane of Imac togeder with the army preparing to push through the Forest of Spines. We made our way to the Fane of Imac, 12 miles to the north of fort Vedinia only running into some giant flying insects. They were dealt with in less than 20 seconds, and we decided to take a short break as Ekru and Lyndis' wolf "Shade" had been stung several times and their venom was quite potent. At the Fane of Imac we met one of the Wardens, an elven woman named Hexuana. We learned that they had found one of the villages, numbering perhaps 500 Orillos. Hexuana also knew of a Ravine, that might be able to accomodate an army marching through it. However no one had made it all the way there to scout it. Armed with this information we knew exterminating the tribe would be almost impossible for 5 people. This left us with either diplomacy or trailblazing, we decided to keep the trailblazing as a backup plan and decided to try our tounge at talking to these things. They speak their own language but the priests have made us a scroll to enable us to talk to them, we know they live around some fruit trees, im sure Lyndis can find these. So the plan is to find such a tree, set up camp, hunt some wild animals and make them an offering to tempt them to approach us, Lux also got a hold of a really pretty spear to add to the offer pile. If all this goes well Rath will use the scroll on Lux and she will negotiate.
VRH, I assume "Between Dwarves... Ape-People" was Zil's Thursday game. That game was session 109, not 108.

Session 113: A Late Lord's Tomb Note that I am wirting this very much from the perspective and character of Kailara. She is erratic to the point of near insanity, or some people have at least jokingly said as much, and as such she is not to be relied upon to tell the most accurate, truthful nor coherent story. Present: Beldak Chorster; Elf Rogue, lvl 4 (Simon H) Kailara Springsap; Wood Elf Green Warden, lvl 1 (Simon I) Fentharos aka Feathers, Large Beast Green Warden Companion (Simon I) Myself and Beldak remained in the camp on Ardaal after our adventure the previous night. After recovering and buying what gear we required, we decided to scout the land, recruiting Gail to our cause. Gail was not the most amiable fellow, but that aside would prove the be most valuable. Beldak scampered off somewhere, Gail went to do his and I set about my day and once nightfall came we set out. Going south along the coast we had an easy time of it. I had biscuits, those nice buttery ones cooked by the quartermaster of the camp. And there I was munching away, when we came upon a stretch of open ground, one cannot chew and sneak, not without risking doing one or the other with poor outcome, so I swallowed and we all set out careful as can be. Turns out it wasn't unwarranted, this wee fellow was scuffling around in a low bank. We had words with him and then sat down to talk. Turns out that we had a goblin on our hands, a shadowy one, wisps of black smoke coming of it. It told us about some lords or other who supposedly live underground, hoarding wealth and who knows what down there, but mostly shiny things. I managed to trick the goblin into thinking I was of the same mind as he; the borrowing of treasure belonging to a recently late lord and so we all went about digging, looking for a way in. And a way in we found. I'd rather not detail the tunnels and horrors below, let us just say the tunnels were dark, tunnely and whatever else you need to furnish your imaginations. The might have sprawled a very long way, but we by luck struck upon the treasure soonest. Looting ensued, only to be rudely interrupted by approaching sounds of a something. As Zeel, the goblin I mentioned, had told us of guardian spiders the height of a man or more, we decided to hide and Beldak's arrow skewered the thing. We had a job getting out alive, more of the things came after us, and I'm still not sure we got all of Beldak out with us but I'll leave the toe counting to those concerned. And that's the whole of it, the story, not Beldak. Oh yes, almost forgot, the spider things were poisonous, and though blind as bats, bats with eight legs and thick carapaces, they could hear and supposedly "see heat". Beware.

Session 111: Wanderers in the Wood Note that I am wirting this very much from the perspective and character of Kailara. She is erratic to the point of near insanity, or some people have at least jokingly said as much, and as such she is not to be relied upon to tell the most accurate, truthful nor coherent story. Present: Beldak Chorster; Elf Rogue, lvl 4 (Simon H) Nichrome, Human? Warlock/Sorcerer, lvl 3 (Sam D S) Kailara Springsap; Wood Elf Green Warden, lvl 1 (Simon I) Fentharos aka Feathers, Large Beast Green Warden Companion (Simon I) Rath, Dragonborn Sorcerer, lvl 4 (Mark) Sharleen, Human Dragon Barbarian, lvl 5 (Taleek) I was arriving at a camp, just another day as they go, when I ran into a band of adventurers. They had just come from Haven and were about some job or other. They spotted me, I spotted them and it was love at first sight. And we lived happily ever after. So you needen't continue reading about the maigcal storm, the enchanted forest or the demon. So there we were, love struck and suspicious, an odd combo I admit but what with me lying to them and their biggest warrior drawing a huge sword on me, things went about as well as one could hope. For some reason or other, they agreed to take me along, and since they were on an expedition to the forest I had just skirted, and came to inquire about, we certainly could work together. Oh and it turned out the blade baring was less to kill someone and more for some spell or other. They weren't too enthused with Feathers but Beldak, elf, thief and overall likable person, managed to get me out of the manacle, uhm *bracelet*, I was wearing. Never would anyone have had reason to put manacles on me. So having bonded we went about it. On the way we saw grass, more grass and you guessed it; more grass. I swear this island is the boringest? Boringer? Borest? Borest place I've ever been. That includes the cell. Eventually things took a turn however and we found a flower. Normally, finding a flower, well patch of flowers actually, doesn't mean much of anything, they're flowers right? Stem, petals, maybe a leaf or two. But this one, this one was blowing in the wind. Just in the opposite direction. All normal-like. Promise. Anyway, the big lady, let's call her Sharleen, why? That's her name is why, and stop interrupting! So she did noot like the flowers at all. Might have teased her about that, it was just the most excellent opening in her non-existent armor and I could not resist. So i decided, tauntingly, to look closer at this flower, and it turns out that it was hollow like, and when poked some of them crumbled, so dry they broke at a touch. Nichrome picks one, he's our fearless and wise leader, Nichrome the nimble fingered sorcerer. In other words, thing took a turn from borest to boringer. So we continued. And before we knew it the forest stood before us. It was so sudden that it appeared almost a mirage, except for it actually being there, which a mirage wouldn't be. Metaphors are stupid. No more metaphors allowed in this log. Period. For all its sudden appearance the forest certainly seemed much like a forest, and before we had a chance to enter Sharleen stopped and handed us all a dried leaf; an antitoxin. Awfully careful that one, but maybe she has reason to be. After this brief pause we continue on and follow what seems a trail, a game trail likely, and there was certainly some more terrain in there. Eventually the trail ends to become a path. Split in three we take the left one, couldn't tell you why, maybe it just seemed nicer. The path *was* nice. It just didn't go to a very nice place. The swamp spread out before us dark and still in the night. As we got closer we could see a largeish boulder on some turf out in the waters of the swamp. And this boulder wasn't like all the other boulders. It was smoking. No, not a pipe, but more like a bonfire. As in it was giving the smoke of, not inhaling it, boulders can't inhale. They usually don't exude vapors either, but who cares? We do. Like a lot. There was much standing around, talking, deliberating and considering. Until Feathers took the first steps into the swamp and I joined her. At that moment we first started to notice the skies above changing, turning gray and ominous above. The boulder turned out to be a swine. Not in boulder's clothing, if such a thing exists, but frozen, still and turned to stone. As we approached, it stopped giving of the smokey mist and the weather above got worse. Deciding that this was less than to our liking we retreated, and that's when something sweeps by, touching our legs in the water. That's it for me and Feathers and I get the hell out of the muck and onto good old land again. The others are of a similar mind and as the storm picks up we seek shelter in an old log. The night passes into morning, the storm so terrible that the sunlight barely shows. We rest, me leaning on Feathers and the others finding what comforts they can. Me and Sharleen talk for a bit, and general conversation spreads among the group before we turn over to sleep. Yes, I'm an elf, I don't technically sleep but for the sake of abbreviation, let's not discuss the finer points of that now. So, there we were going to sleep having set up a watch order. Next thing I know, I'm being shook awake, there's something outside our log. We determine, by cautious peeks, that a skeleton is walking around out there. But it leaves us be and once darkness falls again we return to the path and this time, we go right, no I mean straight, but right, the right that was right when we came but which is straight now, yes? We walk on for a while, and Sharleen gets it into her head that she knows where we are, sort of, and where we should go. Apparently she had been here to catch a magical white elk, a very large magical white elk. Supposedly some white horses wanted her to catch the white elk, but it was never revealed if the horses are also very large, nor what horses would want with an elk. Beyond killing it and experimenting it, which seemed to me a very strange thing for horses to do to an elk. And not very nice over all, a sentiment that Sharleen seems to share. In either case, she leads the way, and eventually we found ourselves crossing a smallish river. There we find an otter turned stone, at the time I didn't feel like showing it, but the find disturbed me greatly, and it is my hope that someone will look into this. If anyone does, let know will you? I could act as guide if you want. There is nothing we can do for the otter and we continue on. We come to a cave entrance, and, though Sharleen warns of danger, we go inside. Deeper into the cave was a pond, with a tree standing in its center. The usual happens, talking, thinking but no doing. So I walk up the tree and touch it. No, not like that. I'm not some pervert thank you very much. The thing living inside the tree was. Not in the common sense though, but a perversion of reality, a demon. It strikes me down instantly, and, I'll stop mocking her now, Sharleen saves me. Nichrome, Beldak, Sharleen and Rath engage the demon but it was not alone, giant toads come leaping out the water and soon a melee is underway. It goes their way, our way and then more our way and ends, toads cleaved and crisped, demon vanquished. Feathers says vanquished is a word, not sure myself so if that was rude, I apologize beforehand. Anywho, the tree seems quite a bit happier with the killing of the demon, and it yields its core to me; a staff of some magical property, which we all agree Nichrome, as leader and magus ought have. But we don't leave empty handed, sveral gems are found and shared out. As we take our time resting outside the cave, when our watch spots people coming our way. SO we hide, wait and observe. the people are elves, and, golden. Seems quite impractical to me but Feathers insists that it must be splendid to be so colored. Apparently the others think something alike for they vote that these elves are of some interest, and we decide that it would be better to follow them rather than to bring tales of them to camp without knowing more first. Only problem is; they quite manage to vanish, and with them, the excitement of the day. We return to camp, tired and muddy but whole. All said and done I must say I quite like these adventurers. Might take up the profession myself if things continue to be this interesting.

Since I've posted two logs in rapid order, it would be very nice if anyone who read them could give me a hint as to whether writing them in this style is accetpable, plush, good, terrifying, confusing or cellery or any other word you'd like to apply. You know, so I know what you know about your feelings on the matter. And if said feelings might make a fruit sallad.

Session 114: Felling of a Lost Party Simon H as Beldak, rogue, Lvl 4 Simon I as Kailara, 1st level Green Warden Taleek as Sharleen Lvl 5 Barbarian Joshua constantin lvl4 wizard Jim F as Sirlus The day began sat around the campfire, I was in the company of Kailara and another I didn't yet know. I had recently been part of two other scouting missions and had just about recovered from my last brush with death but was feeling ready to venture out again, besides the pay had been good and it was only foolhardiness that had got me into the last predicament. While contemplating what could be my next adventure we were joined by one I recognised as Constantin, a person I had not seen in gone a year, I can't entirely recall the circumstances of his departure from Haven but he assured me he had been away on an isle conducting his works and experiments. He's a curious fellow, always scribbling in his book, I tend to ignore it as best I can, as to tell the truth it unsettles me. Anyway, I've seen him prove his worth before in a fight and the suggestion that he may accompany a party seemed like a good idea, I'd always sooner take on an extra pair of hands. The fellow by the fire with us also spoke up and introduced himself as Sirlus and said he would also be happy to join us. We were discussing jobs offered by when Sharleen joined us, a pair of hands in the party that it turns out we could not have done without. She had more information about a previous party that had ventured out and had been “turned” and had attacked other patrols in the area. The job seemed simple enough, to eliminate the threat. All in agreement we decided to ready ourselves and prepare for the mission. Everyone went their separate ways and agreed to meet before nightfall. We met before night fell and headed out into the wilderness following Sharleen, who roughly knew where she was going from description. The journey was uneventful and we arrived at the shrine entrance without problems, which was luck considering what was about to unfold. Upon entering the shrine through a narrow passage we ventured upon a room with three statues holding out offering plates. This piqued the interest of some of our more “curious” party members. Some placed small offering on the plates and nothing happened. Then I'm not sure who or what started it but Constantin decided it a good idea to start pouring blood upon these statutes and the others apparently also in another state of mind copied! Anyway it obviously went horribly wrong and a demon appeared behind us. It cleaved at the party felling Kailara's mount feathers and badly scaring Sirlus before Sharleen was able to finish it off. Not the start we had hoped for. Sirlus felt able to continue and so we ventured onwards. We next fell into combat with a group of shadow goblins, firing necrotic bolts into us, pesky little things. Me and Sharleen both took multiple hits, my frame is somewhat more fragile than hers though and these bolt heads did some damage, requiring me to hold back and get some healing. Sharleen however steamed ahead and much screaming could be heard before she herself also fell back a little. At this point the targets we were looking for had also been spotted, a Barbarian a spell sniper and a cleric, accompanied by more shadow goblins and flayers. Again I could not see much of what was going on around the corner, Sharleen was in the fray and Sirlus and Constantine were attempting to support. Kailara was no where to be seen. I attempted to get shots in but kept sustaining damage. I don't know how long we were fighting to begin but we had to help Sharleen drink some potions, less she be felled. At one point the cause seemed to be lost. Until Constantine was able to make Sharleen grow even larger! Giving her the edge over the other Barbarian, continuing to struggle they both ended up in a pit trap. The battle grows hazy here as I could only peak as to what was happening, the same as Kailara who had joined us and was helping as she could. I know that Sirlus was downed twice and not only was he scarred but he had lost a hand in the chaos, crushed beneath a hammer fall. Then from my hiding place I was struck in the face by white hot light and a searing pain across my face, I fell to the floor. I was out for most of the combat from here but came round as the battle ended, with us victorious, if only just. We were able to treat some of our wounds and rest a little now, two of us in bad shape. Constantine and Sharleen in better shape than us went off to explore the rest of the caverns. When they returned Constantine avowed to restore the temple to its former glory. Following this we left the ruins and headed back to camp, luckily my brush with death left no scar! I could return unmarked. Signed, Beldak Chorster (Not recorded officially in the log were the events of finding a dragon guardian who in return for something precious to the person would take that from them and give something in return. Beldak had his face restored, Sharleen and constantin were granted ability and Sirlus had his hands messed with again for being disrespectful. Also Kailara was able to partly fix his hands but we do not know how, as she took him into the forest to do this. Beldak has purposefully chosen to omit this all from official recording.)

Jim.F I didn't have a record of your character and wasn't 100% on the spelling of you characters name, class etc, so can double check that stuff. If I missed anything important to record give us a shout, it was a long session, though I think mostly fighting and I was writing from memory! A lot to recall :P

Session 115: Diamonds are a Birds Best Friend Present: Zeech, Aarakockra, Monk lvl 3 (Sam) Tannyll, Human, Druid, lvl 4 (Niko) Gerald. Water Genasi, Druid, Lvl 1 (Hairy0tter) Lux, Human, Rogue, lvl 5 (Taleek) Kailara, Wood Elf, Green Warden, lvl 3 (Simon I) Constantin, ??? , Wizard, lvl 5 (Joshua) Slime caves, betrayal, and magical birds trying to steal magical crystals. These were the exciting events that took place in the expedition to the slime cave. And it started just like any other day. I woke up, had some breakfast, did some exercising, and sat down to admire my lovely statue. Then I heard a loud knock on the door at went to open it. Behind the door stood a human lady, a stranger I had never met before even though I first thought I had. She said she was looking for some maps of the island and I knew a guy so I provided help. We made our way to the healing plague inn where we met Constantin, a fancypants noble who sadly has a speaking impediment. We also encountered Kailara who I found quite enjoyable as a person. She asked us to join us for a fun expedition to a cave to eradicate some slimes. We had a business discussion about the pay and then later set out to find more party members. Right outside the inn we found Gerald who was making an acquaintance with Kaila's huge feathery friend, and I'm not talking about myself. We discussed Gerald's usefulness whilst Constantin went and found another party member, Tannyll. She sold us some potions. I suggested that Lux could perhaps convince the people paying us to increase our pay so while Constantin and Lux went in to talk to the employer I stayed outside and distracted entertained our party members with Kaila and her lovely feathery friend. Lux and Constantin returned and told us that they had managed to increase our pay by ten gold and then we decided to meet at the town gate the day after so we left and gathered the morning after and left for the cave. The first day we made our way to the top of the mountain where we made our camp and rested for the night. On my watch I felt the air getting colder so I asked Kaila if she noticed it. She said she had no idea what I was talking about and so I assumed I was just being too paranoid. But Kaila noticed movement in the snow confirming that my paranoia was justified and not unreasonable at all. We woke the others and got ready for combat. And out of the snow came a snow snake or something. Constantin threw a fire ball at the snake and I then asked the snake what he wanted in Glacial and he responded by saying "Food" and then our conversation was brought to a abrupt end as he got a face full of fire from the others. Gerald had a genius idea and promptly made a ice platform under the snake and had it slide of the side of the mountain. Since there was nothing really to gather from it we just went to sleep and kept on traveling the next day. We came across a river and my map showed that it would be a eight mile detour to walk around it. Kaila went over to a tree and started to talk to it for some odd reason. She said it recommended asking the water elementals to let us pass and since we had a water Genasi with us he could speak for us. He talked to them and a moment later a ice bridge was formed. We crossed it and made our way further towards the cave. We found another safe place to rest for the night and made camp. Again during my watch I could feel the air picking up and so I again asked Kaila if she also noticed it. She started talking to another tree and said that it told her that "the Hunter is coming" and since my paranoia payed off the day before I loudly yelled that "the Hunter is coming" waking everyone and getting ready for a fight. Out of nowhere Gerald got hit by some type of slicing wind. We did what we could with the little information we had, and by that I mean we walked aimlessly around until we could find the source of the slicing. We eventually found that it was a of half void and half air elemental probably and after killing it, after a lot of fighting, I found one of the elemental crystals on the ground. I asked the party if they could let me have it since I could really use it and it seemed like no one really cared for it and since no one voiced their opinion except for Kaila who seemed like she wanted to just pick it up. After seeing the backstabbing Bird Bird behind us I quickly picked it up before he could get close to it. And I stayed way the hell away from him. And not letting him get close to my crystal. It's mine, no one else's. I fled to a tree and sat there keeping my eyes on Bird Bird until he would leave. He started pecking on Constantin's shield which was blocking the entrance to his tent where he and Lux were residing. After the shield being moved he was allowed to enter. Why did they let him enter I wondered. Something was going on and so far my paranoid had kept me safe. So I kept on trusting it for the time being or at least until I could use the crystal. In the middle of my pondering I felt something tugging at my waist. Something invisible was trying to take my crystal. I knew something was going on and I knew that Lux and Constantin were not trustworthy so I flew to another tree and hid there for the night and making my plans for keeping my crystal safe. The morning after I did all I could to stay away from Lux and Constantin, If they tried to approach me I would slow down to stay behind them or hurry up to be in front of them, I was not going to just let this Jewel get taken from me. Maybe I should have told one of the other party members but I couldn't trust them either, I was on my own in this mass of people. When we got to the cave I did all I could to stay away from them still. They all walked ahead while I remained behind to hide the Jewel somewhere they would never be able to steal it with out me seeing it. I hid it inside my map case at my hip. No way they can steal something from right under my nose. Anyway, when I regrouped with the others and we made our way through the cave. The slimes seemed to come almost out of nowhere and were endless. The second we saw them we would attack them with some type of ranged attack. They were easy to kill, they all died in one hit so no need to worry about anything like that but they were many and left poison gas on the ground making it harder to navigate through the cave. We walked into a big round room with a ascending walk way leading to a chest in the middle. Constantin threw some fire at it shattering it. I was too busy keeping my eyes on Lux and Constantin to notice what was in it but we kept on walking onwards and in the next room there was some suspicious looking dirt which made us unsure about it and so Constantin made his examination and managed to make his way past it only to have a huge grey slime land right on top of him. The party quickly sprung into action and made work of the slime. Any metal that touched it would start corroding making blades and armor less useful. Since Lux and Constantin both started in the front it wasn't hard to stay at range away from them. We decided that it would be best to return to town and get the equipment repaired and ready for another time. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This part has been left out as the following events still haven't been resolved yet and as such some of the following text might change as these events could affect the following text. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In conclusion there needs to be something done about this bird. Bird Bird is slowly going from a nuisance to a problem quickly. He is growing in power and his devious pranks are starting to make adventuring on Borian a test of trust between party members. A test I know I would have a hard time passing, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Bird Bird will need to be dealt with before Borian becomes impossible to explore. His ability to somehow use Borians magical pockets to navigate across Borian is making it hard to avoid him. I think the others were planning on returning at a later date to clear out the place. While I also would like to return and clear it out, I can't say I'm going to do so as I don't trust these people with my life after their theft attempt. May this log provide insight in the events revolving around this expedition. - Zeech

Session 116: The army of the dead Nichrome, Human Warlock/Sorcerer lvl 3 (Sam D S) Kailara Springsap, Wood Elf, Green Warden lvl 4 (Simon I) Talarius, Fallen Aasimar, Paladin 1 (Ernie) Dux, Half-orc, Paladin 3 (Jimmy) Lux, Human, Rogue Level 5 (Taleek) Semortis, Human, Fighter/Rogue lvl 3 (Sam) While passing some time in the Pickled Stout on Aardal (I prefer not to be on Haven these days) I was approached by Dux and a young woman. They were interested in a job clearing out a horde of undead that have been invading the magical forest. Killing undead and getting paid for it is my kinda work. We immediately set out for the forest, me and Kailara had been before so finding it was simple enough. While searching we ended up at a spot we rested at while on another job. From there we were able to track the general direction that we'd seen a skeleton retreat recently. We ended up at a cursed swamp full of putrid water, infested with swarms of bubbling creatures that seemed able to corrupt anything they interacted with. Needless to say we avoided the water and wound our way toward a cemetery that seemed to be what we were looking for. Along the way we came across a curious undead man who was digging for a gold coin. Lux gave him one and he immediately turned to dust (admittedly, he looked quite happy to do so). In the cemetery I set fire to a cursed tree that had attempted to grab one of us and we killed a couple unaware skeletons. While exploring the cemetery we came across some caged elves of a curious appearance and were attacked by a skeletal ghost who exploded upon death killing one of the imprisoned elves. We attempted to question the elves but none of us spoke their language, they did seem quite keen on me though for reasons I don't really know. After warning us not to enter the crypt from which the skeletal mage had appeared they darted away at a speed I've never seen anything move, easily 300 feet or more in an instant. Ignoring the warning, we headed down into the crypt where we set off traps and drew the attention of a dozen skeletons, a powerful skeleton captain with access to spells and several fear guards. After a drawn out, gruelling battle in which several of us almost died, we eventually bested the small army and investigated an orb set into a pillar surrounded by signs of death. Kailara cracked the orb, releasing an unknown entity and we left. After escaping the crypt we realised that daylight had fallen and decided to return into the entrance foyer to rest until nightfall. During the rest we were attacked by several flaming skulls and greater Basalisks. Most of our group immediately retreated but Sermortis under the impression Lux would help him fend off the approaching enemy, stayed. Lux did not stay and Sermortis sadly fell soon after leaving the crypt. The rest of us escaped and made our way back to hand in our collected skulls and to mourn our fallen comrade.

Session 117: The Island, The Valley & The Shadow Claw In attendance: Cloud, Tybaxi, Sorceror, level 3 (Sam) Kailara Springsap, Wood Elf, Green Warden, level 4 (Simon I) Sâemus, Ghostwise halfling, Monk, level 2 (Jimmy) Sharleen, "Human", Dragon Barbarian, level 5 (Taleek) I am crash tired as I write this, but fresh from the mission and in Kai persona mode. Expect whimsy and beware omissions. If you act on the information here in; beware - here there be dragons Shadow Claws. Sharleen comes in the Pickled Stote, sits down and sulks. So I throw grapes at her. We talk, and it turns out that she's actually thinking about going on a walkabout. To explore a little, and maybe get some space from the demands of always being on a job. In her state I can't let her go, not alone, besides, there might be treasure and things so I insist on coming with. So does Sâemus, a monk who's toe I mistook for one of my grapes. So with cakes, hot water (I never did get to brew the tea) and a good mood we go to the harbor to get a boat. We wanted to go north, and north was all water it turns out, so we wanted passage to the northern islands. There was indeed a ship, and a cat, I should mention the cat first. We ran into Cloud, a Tabaxi... Well cat man. He seemed like a good enough sort, and Sharleen seemed to like him especially, so we adopted him. On the boat we went, and soon we were at the island. The island was beautiful, little rivers, soft billowing hills and patches of forest. And the air was just right too, a vibration of life, that's what it had. And the trees, didn't have time to talk to them much, but they sure seemed friendly. We had some delicious blueberries and eventually we arrived at this wonderfully strange valley. As if a giant had punched a hole in the ground with a... aaa... hmm. A walking stick? A very large walking stick. So we had to climb down, but when we had we found what we had been looking for; adventure! The greenery stretched out before us, going this way and that, old, gnarled and lovely. The river had climbed down with us, and, after a glorious fall, it flowed into a system of caves. So what did we do? We went into the caves. And after a bit, there were some rather interesting water bugs during that bit, we came into the most amazing valley yet. Old trees, the river, and the ruins of a village built by unknown hands. The trees were, as expected, very nice, though a bit tired. Feathers gave them a hand though and they seemed to enjoy blooming. We rested in an old building that must have been a temple or some such. So we set up camp, or house, or temple, or which ever, and went to rest. During the night a biig snake came by. Now, I don't have an issue with snakes myself, but Feathers is quite, "adamant", she says she's "adamant" about snakes being sneaks and nasties. So Sharleen did the talking, bribing and goodbying. Yes; it left us alone. So we tucked our blankets, or wings, and went back to sleep. But later, when day was ending (not that we'd know being underground), the ground started shaking. These strange earthlike creatures with rootacles came up from the ground and after showering them with projectiles a battle ensued. Cloud was the first to die on our side. And the last. The things, yes, things, would not die when we attacked, but they split, and became if anything even more dangerous. But Sharleen is dangerouser, if not the dengrousest, and so she killed them all. We buried Cloud at the overlook in the cavern and after exploring the ruined village, we left. The tunnel led on, and up, only to end in a place we would not have expected; we were back on the main island. And not just back, but some ways into the black swamp where the undead lived. Since other terrible things also live there, we decided, not because I was scared or anything, to leave. I sent Talons with a letter telling the sea captain not to come get us, because he was already at the island we were on, and so coming to get us, with a boat, would be pointless. We scouted south, leaving the forest behind and striking out over the grasslands, but there were only stumps, and some old collapsed buildings of stone. Instead we went east, skirting the forest line, nice word that, skirting, and took our rest for the day at the cave with the dead tree. Turns out, on closer inspection, that someone (we would later learn something) had opened a hole in one of the collapsed tunnels. But it seemed safe enough and so we set up camp. Someways through it all, Feathers noticed a treant. Now I don't know if you know what a treant is, but they are just the best fellows around. So of course I had to go say hi. And the others also wanted to come, so we made our way over. The treant was very nice, like summer memories on a cold day, and like a winter breeze when the sun is to insistent. Sharleen could talk to it, and it let me climb up it's branches to have a look. We ended up going with the treant for a few miles, and it and Sharleen spoke a lot. She told us the treant had lost all its friends when the Lady went mad, and that it wanted us to help it destroy her. Now, we did want to help it, really we did, but the Lady had killed all its friends, and if she could kill who knows how many treants, then she can kill just the one. Treants shouldn't die, they should walk, and drink spring water, and bathe in the sunlight. You know, enjoy life. So I promptly told it that I would not help, and it seemed to take to that, once Sharleen had explained what was what to it. Not that is was happy about, in fact it was rather rude and then left in a mood. So we had to go back on our own legs the way we came. So we rested, and then we went inside the cave to explore. The cave was bad. Something lived there, and as I write I can see it creeping at the edges of my vision; a deep breathing, a shadow and a claw. Do. Not. Go. There. Unless you are people who kill evil monster things, then you must go there. Now. And kill it. With fire. Clear enough? So now, after escaping its magic tricks and circles, and I think we did that mostly by sheer luck, I am leaving Ardaal with Sharleen for the Vale; the Temple of Light wouldn't do anything about the monster, and I fear it might come after me. And as I sit here on the deck, eating the now crumbled cakes, I can't help but hope, that the Shadow Claw can't swim.
