Session 25: A dwarf among dwarves Part of this assignment were Beldak of the Sashes Cain Immortui of the Sons Erolith Ffiona Rurik Battlehammer Marokin of the White Horse Two of his drinking Companions (Official list for the session was: (Rurik, Cain, Syvil, Beldak, Marokin, Ffiona) After my last assignment on Bael’s Island I had an urgent personal assignment on the Maladon mainland. I got contacted by Cain that he is on his way to the mainland and so eventually we met up. On his way he and Beldak had run into a group of dwarves in Hunter’s Inn.  The dwarves, besides Rurik who surprisingly turned out to not be one of them, were Gutboy, Dain and Thorgrim. They had talked Cain into helping them to retrieve some some artefact of their ancestors from Dwarrenhold. On our way we ran into Wyvern like creature that viscously attacked us and I therefore recommend not taking that route to this city and instead perhaps ask the valemen to cross their land and reach the place from the other side. However if you were to be to set your mind on fulfilling the request, Cain had mentioned to me, for capturing an alive drake, these creatures seem to breed around this area. Cain managed to damage the wings of one of these creatures and Rurik valiantly or maybe stupidly jumped onto the back of it to keep it down. The ranger Ffiona managed to fill the other one with needles and though one of the dwarves was downed the quick action of Rurik spared him from death. I felt rather useless in this combat since they seem to not be very musical creatures, but I managed to inspire some of my fellow companions. The dwarves eventually revealed that the place they planned on taking us to was overrun by Orcs and that those foul creatures had made it their home. We came across an old temple of sorts and Cain said it was belonging to some long extinct cult or order and he tried to consecrate it, he said it was somehow related to Sol. Being not a man of religion I do not understand enough about these processes. He mentioned something of Tripartheit or so… for accurate information you might want to contact Cain of the Sons. Around this are we also found some old arrow heads. Perhaps an archaeological team would be interested in this area, thought the Wyverns definetly will make it quite dangerous. We decided to take a rest and on a stroll Erolith discovered an old emblem regarding a blue sash and some gold, perhaps from the great war, Rurik as representative of the Empirian military took it in. The gold was shared with the party and some with the dwarves. We then headed on but eventually realized that the dwarves have been deceiving us, their stories not making sense, and we left them where they were standing. As additional notes Marokin writes down for himself: Sharleen and Syvil were with us and appear to be fine. We actually followed the dwarves and ran into a patrol of the vale. They made us promise to not tell anyone about that entrance in the northern part that is not as well controlled as the pass. They also put something around DeCoursey’s neck which stopped which ever magical effect was linked to him. These valemen surely are surprising in their abilities. Then they brought us to the city of the King of the Vale, or Lieutnant as he calls himself (if I understand this correctly) I met some of the goblins in the cave and proposed to them to move to a saver location, which they then did. The sash item we found is actually a standard sort of item that belongs to the empire and is cursed to some extend.

Session 27 An Investigation Your Lords I send back word from the Vale, this is the second part of this account which has seen the party in the midst of a murder investigation Party Included Syvil Dernsonn the Half elf with Scalia and Yanna The Paladin Ser Cain Immortui of House Rathaka and Solas Dithas, accompanied by Xyah, the hawk Ezekiel Boone who sure can throw a dagger, Jon Heron the fighter of whom I saw little Marokin the bard and cheeky Mr Mocsi Hungry Kaar the dragonborn, Ffiona of whom I don't know much about, and myself Beldak upstanding citizen. Following the previous events we found ourselves confined to a single building under guard in the Vale city of Dunmorr. It wasn't uncomfortable but with the company present it felt like being part of a menagerie! Master John Heron was kept separately from us having had contact with the murder victim. The dwarves that led us into this mess were also still with us, they seem to be very untrusted within the Vale. They were confined to a pit along with our party member Rurik, who also had the misfortune of being a dwarf. The little blighters continued to complain constantly. So it seemed that an investigation was under way and we were possible suspects, especially Jon Heron. Master Boone was able to extract some information from the guards, that the victim was named Mara and she was a prominent member of the community from an outlying town. That was about as much as we could get out of them for time time being, they said we would have to speak to the Dagda Mor to learn more. Whilst this was occurring Marokin had sensed magic emanating from the bags of Scalia. He had alerted Syvil as he believed that the armour he carried within the bags could be tracked by the Empire. Syvil raised the issue with the guards and told everyone with us, asking to urgently speak to Dagda Mor so he could remove the magic on the item and hoped it was not too late. Cain offered Solas' aid to Dagda as he left to continue his investigation. Erolith had busied himself looking for possible escape routes, and was able to find a way under the wattle and daub walls. I was keeping an eye and realised I could easily scramble through . I asked Marokin to make me invisible so I could get out safely and see if I could find out more, he agreed to help me. Exiting the building I made my way to the murder scene next to the main hall and attempted to listen in on the guards. The conversation wasn't very useful, they were just commenting on how strange we all were and that the murder victim and I quote “had more through her than the red river gorge”. A classy type, with quite a reputation.. I moved along to a small collection of buildings in a row next to the murder scene. Outside there was blood amateurly splattered on the floor. I instantly recognised it as chicken blood from the smell, fowl play was afoot! It looked like we were being set up. Determined to know more I quietly ventured into the building next to the scene. I found a servant moping up filth, I could make out the clear signs of blood on the floor. Carefully rummaging around in the muck, I came across a body hidden, it was so covered in filth that I was unable to identify it. Just at that moment I narrowly avoided being discovered by dodging out of the servants way, my heart was in my mouth. Whilst planning my exit a guard entered and a coin purse changed hands. The pair then loaded the body and other waste onto a cart and exited, I thought it best to follow. They took the cart to a sluice and began to start dumping the contents over the edge, then returned to the buildings they were in. At this point I returned to tell the others what I had witnessed, so they may free us. We decided it was best to try and contact Dagda Mor more urgently, to tell him all we had learned. One of the guards agreed to fetch him reluctantly and Syvil also managed to persuade him to let Yana out, so she could follow and get message to Dagda if the guard turned out to be corrupt. Yana never returned she was attacked. Syvil, very distraught tried to get another guard to investigate, Marokin stepped up to the guard as well. He somewhat sneakily attempted to charm the guard as they spoke, which didn't go to plan. The guard started to become hostile when he thought magic had been used. Luckily Marokin quickly managed to cover for this mistake and they settled down and left find Yana. Whilst they left a few things happened around where we were imprisoned. Hawks appeared outside on the walls, looking rather unnatural. Boone threw a dagger at one and Syvil a divine blast, both hitting their marks. Boone's shot was something rather special. The hawks tumbled off the palisade but we could see no bodies. I was full of a sense of foreboding when I recalled stories of the red hand, a group of elite assassins from the empire and decided that we needed to get out of the confines of the building urgently. We spoke urgently to the guards but they didn't seem too alarmed, frustration was growing as the day was getting late and things were seeming dangerous. Marokin and Erolith came up with a plan for action, to send myself and Erolith outside again with invisibility. The camp was a lot more active than earlier in the day. We made our way quietly back to the sluice where the body was disposed of. Erolith inspected the hatch and decided he wanted to climb down to have a look, telling me to hide as he did so. Unfortunately as the hatch dropped a strange man came out of his hut and I was spotted. I didn't want to give anything away that we had escaped from our captivity, so took it on myself to play along with what he wanted while Erolith investigated. I found it impossible to get away once I was in his hut, I won't say what he was talking about but he went on a bit. When I was able to emerge I couldn't see Erolith and immediately went to check the hatch. I looked out for him but couldn't spot anything in the gloom. Looking all around me I still couldn't see Erolith but I noticed Ffiona, Kaar and Marokin headed my way calling out for Erolith and I. As I met the party we exchanged brief words and the party noticed ropes attached up the inner palisade, we went quickly to investigate. Realising these must be the ropes of assassins and panicking I climbed the ropes and yelled “ambush!” to tried to warn the druids inside. Marokin aided by beating his drum outside the walls and using magic to make my voice boom in the night, before leaving with Ffiona to continue looking for Erolith who was still missing. Not knowing if anyone had heard I decided to press forward and crossed from the palisade to great hall and could here a ruck-us starting inside. There were further ropes leading into the building on the outside wall. Only when I climbed up the rope could I get a sense of what was happening inside. The rest of our party were inside the hall under attack by assassins. As I got to the window the lady Elonwyn called for my help but Jon Heron shouted at me not to help her. She then turned to attack me! I entered the room and began to attack, shortly followed by Kaar. Elonwyn went down with a few attacks, despite Jon wanting her alive. Moving into the main room it was a scene of horror, spinning assassins and blades flashing all around. Dithas lay dead on the floor along with various guards and the Talid lay severely injured. I loosed an arrow and critically wounded an assassin with an arrow to the neck. Combat continued fiercely, Cain and Jon heron also went down but were brought back up into the fight by Boone and Kaar. Syvil was soon surrounded by four assasins! Luckily two of them were gravely injured and the guards managed to pick them off. The remaining two assassins retreaded into a side room and the party pressed to shut them down, with Syvil at the front putting himself in mortal danger before exiting out of the window. More guards were felled but Kaar aided by myself and Cain, when we could finally enter the room managed to take down the last of them, keeping one alive for questioning. After the fight those in the hall gathered together and closed Dithas' eyes and searched him for any personal belongings and recouped for a moment. We then left in search of Marokin and Ffiona in hope of news of Erolith.

Who was supposed to be writing the log for the Monday session (25) where the party under Boone assembled at Dun Mora and met the Talidd and had the party?
I don't think it was agreed as the session was continuing listening to the end of the recording.  I was there in character but not on the session so didn't do that bit. I could do it if I listen back through the session, unless anyone else that was on the session can do it.

How's this? Ezekiel Boone Dithas Hawkligh t Cain Immortui Syvil Dernsson Jon Heron Kaar the Dragonborn Sharleen the Dragonborn Erolith I had been pining for a journey to make proper contact with the Valemen for a good many months and was quite excited to be at last be on the way there. Whatever of the tales of them were true it was obvious they'd dwelt in this land generations, and lived peacably and prosperously, so there was a lot we could learn from them to make lives in Haven easier. Not to mention opening up more trade which would be a great benefit to all. Master Cain thought so too and arranged a cart to bring examples of produce up from this side of the wall to present as gifts and hopefully tempt future buyers, though he himself was not around when the time came to set out from Haven. I'd hoped to meet him at Hunter's Inn when we stopped off on the journey as he had mentioned some business there briefly, but he wasn't present there either. The amiable state of the Red River Valley somewhat allayed my concerns at the time though, we spotted many cookfires plain as day and met more than a few travellers suggesting the valley has become a safe and well-travlled area. After finishing our stop at the Inn we set out again on a crisp and pleasant morning for the Valewall, crossing the ford with no trouble and being met at the Wall openly by friendly Guardsmen. The wall up close by the way is a more impressive sight than one might expect from the description of an earthern rampart topped by pallisade, it feels larger and thicker than it has any right too and there are great tall statues of stern men and women, many of which bear draconic features. Depictions of the ancient Drornlords guarding the home of their descendents. There is no doubt in my mind now from having talked to these people that they come from the same long ago stock as myself, the Glarns out of ancient Shaldis - we even speak the same language still though we sound a little strange to one another. Joined by an escort we were directed through the wall and onto the road to Dun Mora, the seat of power of the Vale's King, though the official title is Talidd, which is more akin to Steward by imperial tongue. While we saw many bountiful and well maintained fields in the Vale we scarely saw a single soul besides ourselves while on the road. It was an eery opposite to our way up from the lower valley. Our guard friends, Feargus and his comrade Conal, explained that the tradition beyond the wall was to live hidden and more secure from danger beneath the earth. A sobering reminder of this land's reputation. Speaking of sober however we had a little cultural exchange when we were offered 'Mother's Milk' a staple drink here made from fermented ewe's milk, it was certainly... different. In return we cracked open a bit of Skullbuster for them to try. Conal nearly fell off his horse with one sip, so there may well be a market for it. It was the afternoon when we arrived at the capital of the Vale. Dun Mora as a city seems much smaller than Haven which is unsurprising since it seems the main purpose of it is simply to host the court of the Talidd. However it is in a wonderful position atop a large hill rising out of the plain in the crook of the river, giving very commanding views of the Talidd's domain and double rings of ditches and ramparts topped with more wooden walls protect the summit. Our weapons were taken before we were allowed beyond the bailey between the walls but once inside we were greeted to a pleasant surprise at the Talidd's compound. Cain and a number of our fellows were awaiting there, it seems a number of dwarves from the previous business had lead them astray, and they had been detained for tresspass in the Vale. The crime was forgiven for being unintentional and all, but the dwarves, were invited to audience with the Talidd that evening. Our audience went well I believe, we were formerly introduced to the ruler of the Vale - Talidd Mellian and he to us. The deeds of some of the company proceeded us and we were welcomed warmly. With Cain now present at last he was able to dispense the gifts we had brought, and while the country was not as isolated as we had been lead to believe, for they trade with a people known as the Orin to the south, they were grateful for the gesture. Though there was particular interest in the leafweave leathers. It seems while iron is common in the Vale, the redness of it in the soil giving it the name Vale of Blood, it is not favoured in the making of armor, so leather that protected as well as chain would be very sought after. The Talidd and his druids were also taken with the strange entangling salt crystals we recovered last year and have been using to improve our communications, they had a number of Sithi Journeybooks, items that work similarly but rather than the ink the magic was connected to the book itself and with the crystals they will be able to make their own. With the audience at an end the Talidd declared that there would be a great feast to honor the occaision. His hall soon echoed with the sounds of merryment and cheer for it seemed the whole of the town piled in to enjoy the festivities and was welcomed regardless of their station. I recall Dithas I believe, may his Soul pass on peacefully entertaining the druids with cantrips and teaching some spells. There was a discussion on crystaline glassware believed to have been created by the Dwarren themselves and many stories and legends exchanged. However the grand evening was cut short in the most awful of ways. A woman covered in blood and screaming ran into the hall and fainted, outside the body of another woman was found dead. The same woman that earlier in the evening Master Heron had stepped out to be 'alone with', one of his axes was also found bloodied. With suspicion pointing towards him the Talidd placed him under arrest and called his druids to investigate the crime and find the truth of the matter. The rest of us were placed back in the bunkhouse to be detained there until it was completed.

Session 31: It's a trap! Present: Vedinia Meren Kaar Syvil Mindarthis Von Ffiona Beldak To Emperor Marcus of the Valmar Empire, first of his name, lord of all realms, lord of the greatest to city to have ever been and ever be, the lord of Valmar, the living god, and leader of all peoples under all skies. All that and my elder brother to boot! I bet you never expected to see this hand writing again. The Red Hand has asked of me to write a formal report, but I've told them I will write you a letter and they can have a scribe make a copy for their records. It seemed that was enough to satisfy them. In case it's not obvious by now it's me, the little fox, your younger sister Vedinia. It's nice to finally be... Well I'm still not home I guess. Sadly it seems things here are in Haven are desperately in need of a true member of the imperial family. I'll worry you not with the troubles here, but know that I will take responsibility for the situation as your sister. After all I owe it to the people after disappearing for so long. I will save the story of my survival for a more private letter, but know that your sister's belly still carry's the true fire of house Julianus. That is not the story I send for you today though. Today I tell you the story of my rescue. Oh it is a tale of many risks, and brave deeds for sure. I found myself somehow escaped from my captures. As I fled I came across a traveling group from the Blue Sashes here in Haven. While they were not the most kind of company they did agree to take me with them. Unfortunately they were already on a journey of their own that had to be completed before returning to Haven. It wasn't long before two of them, Kaar, and Ffiona of the blue sashes swore to protect my safety upon the journey. For Adolfo I can also speak praises for as their leader he said the same. Unfortunately the rest of the sashes did not manage to earn any of my praises. Despite this I still endured their company across the Vale, looking upon the beautiful landscape before me. Dreaming of our grand cities, and more loyal citizens. Fortunately before long the hunters were turned into the hunted. We made our way through the vale to a set of stone ruins. There we met Inquisitor Tyrel of House Falconis. He bravely carried the device of a black falcon into battle as we were attacked by demons in the ruins. I swear I don't think I will ever see a man cut a demon in half in one fell swoop ever again. Truly Inquisitor Tyrel deserves your honors. If not for his valor I would not be here to write you this letter. Of course the story did not end there. For within the Sashes' company hid a man wanted by the empire. While I can personally lay no claim to his character he stood accused of murdering imperial officials. The entire journey by the Sashes had been deployed in secret by Tyrel's clever ploy. All to draw out this criminal so he could be given fair trial under imperial law. I do say I have met cleaver inquisitors, and strong inquisitors, but he was the first I have ever met containing so much of those two qualities. Even more so then that he showed the true compassion of a servant of the empire. Sparring those Sashes who misguidedly defended their dear friend. Not just for mercy's sake, but also to spare me of seeing anymore bloodshed. You know I was never one who enjoyed seeing a body on the floor. All in all I don't think I was quite expecting such an exciting adventure to be the capstone of my escape, but now that it has been I am pleased to have gone on the journey. To you my brother I say this. I still love you dearly, and have missed you with all my heart. My heart still mourns for father, if you could tell him of my return I would be truly indebted to you. I still remember you telling me not to leave. I regret I didn't listen. Even after I decided to leave you still showed your kindness to me. Do you remember our last meeting? You gave me my sword whisper, and I still carry it to this day. I remember how you seemed so excited as I took the blade in my hands for the first time. I saw the fox hair and instantly fell in love with it. Yet you called at me immediately "unsheathe it, unsheathe it!" When I finally did and looked up on the blade I saw the word whisper inscribed upon its side. I asked you why whisper, and you just looked back and me and said "Because now for the first time I've made you draw a whisper!" Hopefully soon I will be able to return sometime soon even if just to visit. Hopefully I won't be quite so noisy this time. With love, Your Dearest Sister, Princess Vedinia of the Valmar Empire second to my name, daughter of Vedin of House Julianus. P.S - Now that you are emperor any chance of granting me another title?

Session 30 - A Thorn too Deep A message sent to a monastery of the Norn: Jakelil Bohalin, an old time mercenary Eddon of House Rathaka, student of Ulrich Ashton Linden, Druid of Kine Kroasi, woman of the Vale It is with great regret that I tell you that the mission has failed. The Empire might release the Thornblights any day now and I am powerless against them. That might change but more on that some other time. I met three of these four in Haven, they seemed good candidates for the task at hand so I invited them to my boat for a closer discussion. They were very friendly, but perhaps not overly trusting. I told them of the Imperial outpost and that they needed to dispose of that woman; the witch who now threatens the threads of time. After explaining things for a bit; Eddon knew of our order and that complicated things slightly I fear, they agreed to go. I lent them the use of Glamner, so that their faces would not be known and thus we set sail. They left at daybreak, and a few hours later a sense of dread came over me. You surely know already; they must have failed somehow. Yet I sense that one of their fates is still not cut off; one thread still extends, perhaps it is in her that we must now put our trust. All is not lost yet though; I am now tracing down a certain artifact that might help us combat these fiends, with luck I shall have it before the end is certain. Your brother in confidence, Fyndir Gothursson. Kroasis' perspective: I was on my way from the Vale towards Haven and took a rest in a cave not too far from the River. Something about the cave appeared strange and it turned out that some magic was written on its entrance in a language that I did not comprehend. I saw in the distance the blackspire and what the valemen had told me of it seemed to be not doing it justice. Even from afar I got the impression of its twisting nature, how it was tempting life to approach it. I could feel it even though I was wearing the Rowanwood. Probably I was lucky to have found this cave or it was the will of the spirits. When I continued my journey the next day something was strange. The day was dark though it should be light. I could still see, but there were 3 humans that thought it to be wise to light a torch and wander around the area. There was also a strong spiritual disturbance in this area. The three were strange companions. A very old man and two younger ones. They appeared to be uneven, both were muscular, but one was nothing short but a giant monster of muscles. Perhaps the old man was their father? I told them that they should turn off their torches for they might attract unwanted attention and just that happened. A bear like creature, but that was no bear I could tell you, appeared and started mauling at the soldier man. It took a bite at it and then confusion broke loose. This bear was having vines growing out of it and those vines attacked in unison with it. Later a spirit revealed to me that it must have been a thornblight. The very muscular man apparently summoned vines that wrapped around the beast whereas the very old geezer appeared to be some sort of mage. Lighting sparkled from him into the beast. I tore the beast off of the soldier to give him more space, unfortunately that also loosened the vines that had grasped it. It tore free and instead decided to attack me. The battle continued when the soldier got next to me and while I was pulling the creature away from its shelter, it tumbled over him and knocked him down. When I went to heal this fighter the bear thing came out again and dragged me into its lair which was inside some bush of wood. I only remember being woken up again by the old man shoving some sort of liquid into my throat. It must have been a healing potion. When I looked I saw the bush was burning. But the beast was not happy with me taken away from it, so instead it took the soldier. It took a long time and we had given up hope on him ever coming out of there, but then a pendant on the old man's neck started giving away a wave of chill and the fire immediately died away. We got to the soldier and managed to cure him, but he felt queezy. We were trying to heal him and find out what is wrong with him, when the muscular lad realized that he had been infected by whatever caused the thorns to grow out of the bear. It took only a few minutes and he burst into parts, transforming into a mixture of his old body and vines. I ran for a hole in the ground which appeared to be the nostril of a statue. My thornwhip grabbed onto something on the top while I jumped off, fearing this being more than the fall into the dark. It must have been 50 feet at least, a sure death if not my thornwhip while holding onto whatever it was it got hold onto started stretching and stretching and leaving me to fall barely one foot. This is where I felt the strong upset of a spirit. This thorn creature tried to enter into the statue but the spirit kept it abay. I eventually got out of this statue cave and was not too unhappy to see daylight again. The party members receives 250 exp each for defeating the bear, discovering the thornblight and for finding the cave beneath the statue. Further the GM awards all players 50 exp for RP; except for Ashton Linden's player, Taleek, who receives 100.

Session 32: Crabs, Sharks, and Mammoths, OH MY! Iron Fist Brigade; Report of Action Date of Departure: Calsar 42 of the 5th year of Emperor Octavin's Reign Date of Return: Froar 5 of the 5th year of Emperor Octavin's Reign Date of Report: Froar 5 of the 5th year of Emperor Octavin's Reign Issuer: Princess Vedinia of the Valmar Empire, second to her name, and daughter of Vedin of House Julianus Reason for Issue: Temporary employment on behalf of The Iron Fist Brigade; investigation into an island known as Khulican. I issue this report on the day of my return from our first expedition to The Island of Khulican (hereby referred to as just "Khulican" or "the island"). I return bearing good news of our travels. The Iron Fist Brigade officially have a temporary base of operations located on the shores of Khulican. With this further expeditions should be able to go deeper onto the island. In spite of the good news, Khulican proved to be most hazardous and caution should be exercised by any wishing to continue in its exploration. On the island I,  Vedinia of House Julianus, and my associates went through greater peril than one might expect from such an expedition. While the trip there was uneventful, once we arrived things changed quite dramatically. While the members of The Fists were establishing a camp, us outsourced members were asked to explore up the river and hunt for food. We did so without question, and encountered some rather unusual creatures. The first of which was a pair of giant crabs. We came upon their tracks at the riverside, and eventually discovered them to be carnivorous hunters rather than scavengers as one might expect. When we first laid eyes upon them they had just preyed upon a deer, and were in the process of eating away at its corpse. I can't imagine such creatures could perform that feat without great speed so future explorers should take caution when attempting to outrun them. Luckily though we managed to successfully hunt these vicious hunters. I used my magic to temporarily ensnare the beasts while my compatriots fired a hail of crossbow bolts, and fire magic at the first crab. One of the bolts pierced its left eye, and the creature was slain almost instantly. The second proved much tougher as its chitin proved to be quite thick. Bolt after bolt did not seem to pierce its hard exterior, but eventually the creature fell to our overwhelming numbers. Though it did so not without taking a nick out of one of our men. But this was not the true danger that we faced on Khulican. On our journey to return to the camp we were attacked by another creature that easily could have killed us all save not for our group's excellent prowess for martial combat. On the journey to bring our prey back to camp the creature burst out of the ground in the trail in front of us. I identified it easily with my vast reserves of knowledge, but I imagine most would have just looked upon it in horror. I knew instantly of the beast, and all of its dangerous properties. It was a Bullete (pronounced boo-lay), commonly known as a landshark. For those who are less aware I shall include a short description of its features and abilities. A Bullete is most close in size to that of a rhinoceros, or a short and stout elephant. It appears as something of a cross between an armadillo and snapping jaw turtle. They have a relentlessly brutal temperament, and are well known for fighting to the death rather than running. Covering the upper half of their body is an extremely hard bluish-gray chitin that almost looks as if it is metal. Despite this not being the case it is easy to feel as if the creature is wearing full plate in the heat of combat. As if that wasn't enough it has the ability to make great leaps through the air as well as burrow underground. Not to mention that it can kill a man with a single snap of its mighty jaws. I would not expect your average adventuring party to survive an encounter with such a creature so take care to exercise caution while traveling across Khulican. As per our encounter with the landshark there is much to say as to how we defeated it. After it first burst through the ground I immediately let out another binding spell hoping to slow it down even if only by a small margin. Unfortunately the creature's strength proved too great for my magic as it seemed to only struggle momentarily before diving into my fellow adventurers. With a mighty leap it attempted to crush two of them, but both men deftly dodged out of its way. Yet even as it started its assault panic did not set into our small band of hunters. Those men who bore heavy armor took to the front, and those who did not stood back behind them. Those brave enough to tower its blows immediately took to surrounding it while the rest of us did what we could to support them. Sir Horcus fought notably well in this encounter as he took both the bearing of the beasts brutality, and dealt a great number of mighty blows. I did what I could to support him with a mix of powerfully explosive magic that melted away at the bullete's armor, and by using some magically curative berries I had procured to keep Horcus alive when I noticed blood leaking from his armor.  Eventually the beast did fall limp as Sir Horcus thrusted his blade through its eye, and then even deeper into its skull. As its body fell aside there was an immediate and resounding celebration from all in our group. We had expected for every one of us to be killed, and yet the landshark failed to take a single life. Regardless we knew that we been just as lucky as skilled, and decided to end our hunt with that encounter. We added the bullete to our quarry, and drug its large corpse back to the camp with the rest. I have brought the corpse of the bullete to the Iron Fist Brigade so that they might use it as a trophy, or for whatever other purposes they might see fit. I will also include a note in this report that some of my associates wished to see the corpse of the creature given to the Blue Sashes. Given that we were on official work for the Iron Fist I, and a few others insisted that it first be offered up to them. If you wish for more details on this matter you can interview those who participated in the event, but I wished to insure that it was noted that I, Vedinia of House Julianus do not stand for such dishonorable actions. It is of my firm belief that the company for which you have accepted work should get first claim to any quarry during such work; barring outstanding circumstances of course. Regardless we arrived back to camp with more than enough meat to satisfying the men for quite some time. As night struck the commander who was sent by the Iron Fist Brigade kindly offered me his tent as I had forgotten to bring one of my own. We all took shares taking watch for anything unusual, and as dawn came near the demonkin known as Von called us out. Apparently another set of large creatures were approaching. This time onto our camp. Out of the darkness came a small group of some variety of mammoth. They held four tusks, and roared fiercely as they approached our fire. I ran out of my tent with not but my nightgown and what few items I could muster to grab in the moment. As I saw the beasts I knew that they held the potential to kill a great number of men, but also knew that unlike the landshark they were most likely much more tame. I used my magic to allow me to speak with the creatures, and slowly approached within a few feet of them. I offered the leader some berries which seemed to please it. After that the whole camp offered them some of our food, and then they went elsewhere to search for more. In the future I would suggest every expedition party looking to explore the island carry at least some small amount of fruits or berries with them as they explore. Though it is worth note the creatures also seemed to accept hay if fruits and berries are not an option. I am unsure if without magic they can be bargained with, but they did not seem inherently hostile. Giving them food may prove to calm their rage. Provoking them on the other hand could easily lead to the loss of many lives. Something which all members of all companies should seek to avoid. Past that encounter there is only one other event worth noting. The next day we took our two boats up to the northern woods. We sought to bring down some lumber to help reinforce the camp, and I suggested taking the boats with us to make transport easier. It was of my opinion that since the forest stood next to the river that we could tie up the logs between our two boats and sail them downriver. I knew that method of transportation back to the camp would be much easier than dragging them a few miles by land. While the acquisition of this lumber might be a small note in this entry, we found our greatest curiosity while in these woods. One of my companion's noticed a building not far off from the woods. We immediately became quite curious given that this island had shown no signs of any sentient races prior to this. We cautiously approached the building, and began to examine it for any clues. Luckily one of my companions possessed the ability to both sense undead, and read celestial. From inside the building he sensed the presence of undead, and from atop the entrance he read words written in celestial. He translated it as follows: "Fane of Imac" Unfortunately we had not the time, energy, nor resources to investigate the building further. We had just spent most of the day traveling, and logging and many of us were quite exhausted. Given that discretion is the better part of valor we decided to include this information into the report rather than dying and bringing back nothing. With that the lumber was brought downriver to the camp, and my group made our way back to Haven in order to file this formal report. Other Notes - The sergeant at camp, and one other member of The Iron Fist Brigade assisted in cutting down, and delivering the lumber. - I will make note that I took the time and dweamor to bless six of the trees before cutting them down. Unfortunately the sergeant wished for twelve. I gave prayers to bless all the wood after the cutting and pruning was finished, but would suggest to any reading this report that blessing your defenses is just as important as making them. - I also made sure to bless all the quarry we retrieved during our hunt. - During my stay the members of The Iron Fist Brigade treated me quite properly. I was very impressed with their honor and manners. - Near the building with the undead there was a distinct lack of wildlife. I did not have time to investigate into why. - The trips to Khulican and back proved to be rather uneventful. Hopefully this remains the case for future expeditions. List of Accompaniment All listed are those who also took up temporarily employment for the Iron Fist Brigade. I decided to order the list by who I felt was most vital and important to the expedition. I humbly will not include myself. You may judge me on the merits of my report, and your men's word. 1. Horcus 2. Constantin of House Dragomir 3. Kaar 4. Kaeten 9. 5. Von

Darn it; I knew something was wrong by the session count! It's the offline games that muddle me up. I will have to start collecting them in a visible place that we don't forget.

Session 33: A Day with the Dead Iron Fist Brigade; Report of Action Date of Departure: Quickern 32 of the 5th year of Emperor Octavin's Reign Date of Return: Quickern 43 of the 5th year of Emperor Octavin's Reign Date of Report : Quickern 44 of the 5th year of Emperor Octavin's Reign Issuer: Princess Vedinia of the Valmar Empire, second to her name, and daughter of Vedin of House Julianus Reason for Issue: Temporary employment on behalf of The Iron Fist Brigade; remove undead from Fane of Imac Reference Documents: Included in this report are various mentions to reference documents. Attached to this report are various translations of runes we found in the Fane of Imac as well as charcoal etchings of said runes. All have been attached as reference documents so they can be referred to as necessary. This report concludes my second expedition to the island of Khulican. As of the time of this writing I sit safely back in Haven, but again find myself advising caution onto anyone who may travel to this newfound land. Our expedition proved successful, but we lost a member of our party, and easily could have lost more. The island once again proved that it is not to be trifled lightly with, and the now resting dead took no reserve in their hunger for flesh and life. As per standard I shall begin this report with an account of the travel to Camp Vedinia. Overall the trip was uneventful save for our first night on the ocean. As we passed near Tomb Isle we were approached by another ship off in the distance. The captain informed us that rebels have been extorting any free ships who cross this area for gold. Upon hearing this my companion Raven recommended to travel without light, and even used a torched barrel to help lure the rebels away. This seemed successful, and the rest of our trip went without trouble. Upon our arrival at the camp Knight-Captain Magyar greeted us, and warned me in particular of the dangers of The Fane of Imac. I will award the captain credit due in his honorable attempt to care for my safety, but alas I had duties to fulfill as a member of the imperial family. I left the man a pardon for any harm that happened to me at Imac's temple before I took to leading our group upriver to begin our mission. The trip northward was not as treacherous as it had been on our last journey, but a pair of giant snakes still tried to make a snack out of our smaller halfling compatriots. In response my companions Von and Gabriella made short work of one snake, and I used my dweamor to scare off the other. With the snakes gone we decided to hurry on with the rest of our journey northward. Sure enough we arrived at the fane without any further troubles. As we approached the temple we once again noticed the unusual lack of wildlife around it. The entrance seemed to be drenched in darkness with no sunlight pouring through it, and to the right of the doorway sat a set of runes. A translation of these runes can be found in our reference documents. The entrance to the temple was roughly six feet in height, and the overhead ceiling inside stood at about eight feet or so. While the tiefling Von had to duck his way through the doorway the rest of our small group made our way into the main temple entrance without trouble. The main entryway was quite large, but also quite old. The floor was littered with crumbling rocks, and mossy plants making it difficult to get around easily. At the top of this T shaped room sat a statue, a pool, and two sets of stairs leading to closed stone doors. The statue was of what looked to be a brawny dwarf holding a sword in one hand, and shield in the other. The pool in front of that proved to be full of spoiled water with various gold, silver, and gems covering its bottom. Finally the two stone doors proved to be locked. While at the time the two doors showed us difficulty, the statue and pool both held more then we could see from a distance. At the base of the statue we found an inscription which is again included and translated in the reference documents. The pool on the other hand was hiding an undead. At Raven's suggestion my companion Cain poured holy water into the liquid, and sure enough a spectre came screaming out from inside of it. This creature arose in a maelstrom of dark looking energy in the faint shape of a humanoid. From its very essence leaked an ominous and foul odor of death. Without a doubt every person in the temple was now risking their life. Von, and Cain immediately took to holding the creature at bay while the rest of us pelted it with might and magic from a distance. While all of us contributed I do have to give Raven credit for felling the creature with an arrow through the chest. As it died it turned to dust, and before long we were continuing our trek through this foul temple. With no way to open the doors sitting atop the stairs we decided our next course of action would be to turn to the leftward hallway of this T shaped room. Following this hallway lead to two more statues that looked similar to the first, save for them being covered in robes. It was between these two statues my companion Von found a lever hidden in the walls. After some clever testing we found that this switch was one of two required to open the stone doors back in the entryway. With that information upon us we decided to investigate the leftward door that also sat the end of the left hallway. This room also proved to be T shaped, though with us coming in to the right of the T, and the base of it pointing back towards the entryway. At the left side of the T directly across from the open door sat another robed statue, and at the base of the T we encountered our first group of shadows. These evil creatures appeared in their never ending quest to hunt the souls of all who ventured their halls. Even in open daylight they found a way to make darkness, and we quickly took to destroying them before they could do the same to us. I immediately took to casting a dweamor of light upon them, and my companions took to protecting me from their embrace. All of them stepped up, and while Raven shielded me from their blows Von and Isabella killed off two of the shadows. The last was undone by Sir Cain who used a spell that mimicked the light of the sun in order to draw it out from hiding. Finally with the shadows gone we searched the 3 rooms that sat scattered on the base of the T. All of the rooms didn't seem to have much to them except for a skeleton with a faintly magic ring, and an old barrel of alcohol. Unfortunately the alcohol was too old to drink, but at the same time the liquid was quite flammable. With that discovery we then moved back in order to explore the hallway that lurked to the right of the entryway. On our way back over the expedition showed our effectiveness in fighting off these shadows as an ever larger number of them began to attack our small group. In spite of their approach we made our way back to the entryway, and onward to the rightward passage. This hallway mirrored the leftward one in every respect save for the contents of the rooms. Inside we found both a marked flagstone, and locked chest. With no key for the chest, and no locksmith on the island our expedition made a collaborative decision to pry it open for its contents. Unfortunately it was dangerously trapped and exploded into a bout of fire. Our company somehow survived the onslaught of flames, but the contents of the chest did not. The flagstone however held a symbol of a tower on its back side. I've included an etching of it in the reference documents. While I am not sure who the sigil belongs to maybe someone in Haven wiser than myself will be able to decipher it. With that task complete our group made the decision to head back to Camp Vedinia for the night. We had injured companions, and needed to rest. Gathering up our group we made our way back to the river where we made a small raft in order to sail the barrels of flammable liquid back to camp. On our way back downriver we didn't actually encounter any danger ourselves, but clearly saw the signs of what could have been. We saw both a large group of giant crocodiles, and another group of giant crabs on the riverside during our journey down. Without a doubt either encounter could have been taxing on our already troubled resources. Regardless we made our way back to camp, and rested for the night. The night was uneventful with nothing of importance taking place. Similarly our return trip to the Fane of Imac also went without any trouble. As such we arrived back at the temple fresh and full of high spirits. Yet the temple itself seemed to match us with quite a few spirits of its own. We immediately took to opening the two stone doors that remained at the top of the entry room. After pulling the switches a large set of shadows immediately sprung forth before eating away at my companions. Luckily though Cain's daylight spell seemed to keep them at least somewhat at bay. With that spell, and all of our group's combined efforts we quickly took to exterminating them. Before long we were ready to find what was hidden behind the two stone doors. Sadly aside from 3 statues all we found were two more sets of stairs. The 3 statues were notably all different from each other though. They all appeared to be the same figure as in the entry room, yet they almost told a story on their own. The first on the left was the figure with a tool, the second was the figure with a sword, and the final was the figure was a gaping hole in his chest. Curiously we continued on the staircase that was to our left. The stairs led us up to the second floor of the fane. This floor was in a U shape. At the top of the U sat the two staircases, at its base sat a shrine with a door, and littering its sides were various doors to single rooms. Most of these rooms were empty aside from more restless spirits, but three of them are worth note to this report. One contained various minor avatars, another contained 3 sarcophagi, and the third was where one our six met her fate. Upon opening one of the doors a spectre greeted us with its foul presence. Our companion Isabella destroyed the foul creature with one great burst of holy fire as it attacked. Seemingly pleased with her feat of strength she walked straight into the room only to be ambushed by a second spirit. This spectre came out of the floor and wrapped its vile ethereal hands around the poor halfling's mouth. Before long all life drained from her face, and in an instant it was clear she lay dead. She fought with valor, but alas caution often proves to be its better part. To make matters worse her sister Gabriella was also present in the expedition. I still feel bad for the poor girl, but in the middle of such a place we had barely a moment of respite before we had to pick up our feet and continue onward. Cleaning the tears from many cheeks we finished clearing the rooms, and then made our way to the location of what seemed to be our final opponent. Even as we approached this deadly shrine all of us present could feel its unholy presence beaming from behind the door. After making our way passed a few traps that protected the shrine we opened the door only to see a wraith present in a cloud of dark miasma. It stood atop a sarcophagus seemingly feeding off the life force of the avatar we would later identify as Imac. This foul evil spirit immediately turned to our small company, and let out a howling scream before attacking. With furry in our hearts from our fallen comrade the group us combined managed to cleanse the temple of its presence. Notably Cain took the final blow swinging his hammer in a fashion I do not expect to ever see again. With the wraith vanquished we finally took steps into the final room of this temple. Approaching the avatar we took the lid off of its coffin in order to catch a glimpse of its fate. Sure enough it was a bronze skinned dwarf with a gaping hole in the middle of its chest. Sitting in the middle of the hole was a light blue ethereal heart still beating some sense of life into this long gone hero. We had found an avatar in the fane; there could be no doubt of this. Our companion Cain had the honor of contacting the avatar, and managed to discover the secret to its race's language. We used that knowledge to acquire the translations included in the reference document. With that our task was done, and we left the temple only to have a great door shut behind us. On the door sat a warning to all thieves so I might suggest any future expeditions exercise extraordinary caution before attempting to enter the Fane of Imac. Other Notes - I do not know how powerful this avatar Imac is nor any of the lesser avatars that we found inside this temple. My companion Raven of The Fellowship of the Unicorn mentioned in his expertise that he did not think the avatar was very powerful, and would not be worth retrieving. I have no expertise myself so it might be worth sending a proper priest to make a more accurate assessment before spending the coin to retrieve this avatar in earnest. Regardless gathering avatars is a matter of great importance for all citizens of the empire, and any found should be reported properly and promptly. - The plaque underneath the statue in the entryway speaks of Imac before he became one of the martyrs. I'm unsure of these creatures' traditions, but if the other "martyrs" are similar to Imac then further expedition of Khulican would prove to be most valuable to the empire. After all if there are more avatars on the island some of them could prove worth retrieving for the empire's greater glory. List of Accompaniment Below you will find a list of those who accompanied me on my journey to the Fane of Imac. The list is in no particular order as all members of this expedition proved they were willing to throw down their lives for a greater cause. Indeed one did. - Von - Cain - Raven, also known as Elias - Gabriella - Isabella, sadly deceased during the expedition.

Session 34 (Face to Face Ill Met in Gatesgarth) Present: Mindartis Ffiona Tarville Trarbon (However you spell it) Archer Desna Dear Linny,  After many weeks of trying to find people to come help us in Gatesgarth; Mindartis, Tarville and I stumbled upon two newcomers to Haven in - where else - The Tipsy Mermaid. They and Archer accompanied us to Gatesgarth. While there, Tarville conversed with a possessed child who was abusing a mandrake... I wasn't there for that, must've been quite the chat. Then one of the newbies stumbled upon a cave with a torch lit behind a not-so-secret-anymore secret passage. We all went in and found three fanged beasties, and slayed them all. We looked for evidence of any other vamps to no avail, but we're confident the nocturnal menace of Gatesgarth has now been vanquished. Well, time to head back to Horrible Haven. I miss you Linny. Love, Ffiona xx

Session 35: A date with....a Squid?!  Idiots Participants: Lux Laila Meren Reskin Constantin Beldak Jon Heron Writer:Lux Alright…I didn’t expect myself to be writing this…but if it gets me paid whatever. So I guess I should just explain from the beginning, so I first get to great town of Haven and my immediate first thought as soon as I stepped foot on the road I knew that this place smelled of greed and…general madness…a very charming place if I do say so myself! Upon asking around I received word that the easiest way to make some good coin in Haven was the Blue Sashes. Not wanting to be one to slowly down the hunt for riches I immediately sought out the Tipsy Mermaid the so called base of operations slash bar thing…so in other words you could drink and work at the same exact time it was great! I even discovered that the bartender was also a bodyguard…and I’m not just talking about any old bodyguard I mean this guy stood well over 8 feet tall with hands the size of large dinner plates…he was truly a sight to see indeed. I learned that the big guys name was Adolfo and he essentially was the big guy running things around the lovely establishment they called The Tipsy Mermaid a lovely name for a bar! Upon discovering the amazing drink that is Skull Buster (solid advertising) I also met with another man also seeking work he went by the name Constantin he seemed nice enough but that there is enough reason for me to watch him…you never can read a man you know little about which made me quite cautious. Adolfo explained to the two of us that there were already a group of adventurers meeting speaking about a possible mission. So as you would expect I made my way upstairs to greet my soon to be party…. they were not what I expect that’s it. As much as I wanted to interview each and every one of them and see what made them tick as a person…especially that strange lady Laila, she seemed a little…crazy…? So I met and spoke with my so called employers for the mission Meren and Reskin. We conversed and learned that they wanted to grab and kill a pirate for some coin. I wasn’t against the idea so I offered to Reskin if I could assist him with getting a ship…yet he turned me down and went off alone to “acquire” a ship of some kind. About half an hour past with the rest of us chatting amongst ourselves until Reskin returned stating that he found a boat, so we all began following him to this boat where we found that the Captain of the ship was there as well though I didn’t question it and decided to check out the ship which seemed to of had a huge amount of cargo within, I spoke with Reskin telling him that that if we were to do this we would haft to be light and quick. After a while of talking and shady looks from the Captain’s crew we departed a set out to find this Pirate. Now this is when everything truly goes a-wall so were all on the ship late at night asleep no big deal right? Wrong! While most of the crew was asleep the ship comes to an abrupt stop which wakes most of the crew including myself and my party. Once I was awake I heard the noise of what sounded like the back end of the boat splitting kind of like a massive hand gripping and crushing whatever it grasped. With my knowledge of the sea I immediately figured it was a squid…but a much larger and stronger one it had to of been older than normal. The crew of the ship and some of my party members ran to combat this creature, I myself gathered what courage I had and joined my friends in trying to fight off the creature. Yet it seemed our efforts were meaningless because not long the squid had already taken the lives of many crew members and even my fellow employers who were essential to the mission. Having known that I changed my plans and decided to gather whatever was left of the crew and have them abandon the ship to safety…yet after a swift attack the squid just…stopped and retreated away almost as if it had come for whatever it was after. After seeing the fiend retreat I returned to the ship to check on the rest and see if the ship suffered any terrible damage but luckily it didn’t. Not long after the death of Reskin the Captain of the ship burst out of the lower decks looking furious demanding answers with a crossbow pointed at me. I keeping my cool in the situation defused the tension and managed to convince him to have us taken back to Haven after a failed mission. And there you have it two of my employers were killed by a massive sea creature and we managed to lose coin to a bunch of greedy pirates If you were to ask I’d say for my first day working in Haven it could have gone worse!

Session 35: Orc Hunting Participants: Sharleen (This would be written as “Anonymous”) Laila Constantin Beldak Tannyll Kaurik Roetstone Jon Heron Writer: Anonymous It had been a while since I’ve last seen the city of Haven the faces and names of my fellow comrades some I even call friends flash through my head I miss fighting with them so. But today was quite the surprise Beldak and Jon Heron accompanied by a few new faces arrived at my camp I didn’t question their reason on why they were here but merely enjoyed their company enjoying the taste of Skull Buster once again thanks to Jon. During that night though something weird happened, I was watching the camp fire when one of Jon’s party members whose name I learned to be Laila walked out into the darkness. I quickly followed her and found that she was talking with someone. Upon further questioning I discovered the creature to be some weird creature whom I’ve never come across before. After some questioning I returned to the camp followed by Constantin but before that Laila was turned into a fully of petals much like the creature and they flew into the tree. I tried calling out to her but was too late and sadly was reduced to merely waiting until sleep took me. I woke in the morning to find Laila completely okay which sated my worries. During the morning I also approached Beldak asking him on why they were out this far he spoke and said they were planning on attacking an Orc Encampment and were heading there now. I decided to help them with their mission but as we were about to leave Constantin asked if he could do some sort of sparring training with me he said he wanted to watch and learn my form in combat, I agreed but the training was put to a halt right when I went to swing my weapon he flinched in mighty pain before hitting the ground. My weapon didn’t even come in contact with him which was strange I wished to speak with him on this topic but there was no time and we had to rush and attack this camp before the orcs moved further toward the walls of The Vale. The Journey there was a safe one surprisingly we even came past the hills which frequently contained many dangerous reptilian like creatures it was a good thing…a thing that rarely happens in these lands. We saw the walls of the camp yet we didn’t catch sight of any scout orcs watching the camp some of us mentioned that Orcs had night vision and would sleep during the day and watch at night. But I was certain that one of these orcs was up keeping a watchful eye on the place. I stealthily approached the Camp following Beldak’s lead due to his expertise in remaining hidden. We both climbed separate trees and looked out onto the camp from a higher perspective. As most of our group said there were no Orcs out and about, however before I was getting ready to climb down I caught sight of a single Orc in a tree with his bow keeping watch. Thankfully he had not caught sight of the two of us or the group I signaled Beldak and pointed in his general direction as Beldak readied himself to take him out I myself readied my weapon giving Beldak a nod. Sadly, our attempt to deal with the Orc quietly fell short and the rest of the Orcs burst out of their tents and ran to attack us. I climbed down my tree branch and stood next to Jon readying myself for combat. The battle was long and one I won’t forget the Orcs were no pushovers and gave all they had to us but thankfully our efforts were greater and we managed to take down the Chieftain including every single Orc that contested us Tannyll also turned into a massive bear which was quite impressive and proved helpful for me and Jon who were in the thick of the fight while the remaining party members stayed within a distance and fired arrows or cast spells. It was good to once again fight with my friends but the mission was done and sadly the bunch had to return to Haven while I stayed at camp to possibly move on somewhere else. I hope for our paths to cross again on a later date but until then stay safe out there Blue Sashes…

Session 24 I Erolith adna write this report in accordance with the blue sash standard for log and mission reports. I was in the tipsy mermaid reading job posts and past reports when I was approached by Adolpho, he asked me to save guard two new arrivals to Haven and to take them out to see Maladon and retrieve some items, that were lost and or stolen by people unknown. I was to accompany Flint Rockseeker the dwarf and Archer a half elf, after outfitting them with gear and items to up their survival rate we set off, but know faster did we reach Maladon we that we saw what looked like to be tracks, after following the tracks we came across a broken wagon with all the items that were missing, leaving the dwarf to guard the wagon I took the elf with me to scout the area after a few hours of following tracks and losing tracks we decided to head back to the wagon collect the goods and move out, finishing the mission in a more faster time then I'm used to and what was a boring day truth be told, the contents were returned and the thief is still unknown my guess is after having the wagon break and knowing the upped patrols in the area the thieves decided to cut their losses and run. For those interested; this is not remotely what happened but Erolith was sworn to secrecy...............................

Just to check, was there a bounty price per orc and how many were killed? To see how that gold would split. We shared the gold from the camp loot already at 84gp each I believe.

Oops; yes! 50 gp per orc and there were 10 of them. 500 gp split between the party.
So roughly 71gp, 4sp and 3cp if I'm correct.
