Group of mainly 40 somethings, this will be a long-term campaign. Schedule: Today from 6p - 10p, next Saturday from 6p - 12a, then every other week on Saturday 6p - 12a, all times are PST. I have a last minute opening in my AD&D 2e Retro Campaign - First up is the Lost Level of Undermountain. We have a generated character if someone wants the slot. This is the beginning of a long-term campaign set in the Forgotten Realms. The opening is for our Elven Ranger. Charcaters are starting at 7th level. The campaign will take you through several classic (modified) dungeon crawls. Only looking for the truly experienced AD&D player who wants to be part of a long-term campaign! It all started when just a youth, Valorian, was orphaned when his village was overwhelmed by Giants from the Northern Wastes. The Giants were cruel and his earliest memories was of hiding under a destroyed wagon and watching as they decimated and feasted upon his Elven Kin, he watched stoically in shock as her mother and father were torn to shreds by the raging giants. The next thing he recalls was being lifted up, in his mind he envisioned this to be his end waiting for him body to be broken and be rended limb from limb. But as he opened her eyes all he could see was light, blinding light and that light had engulfed him and lifted him up. Higher and higher he soared into the night sky, surely this was still the end he thought in his young mind, and how awe inspiring the end was as he accelerated towards the heavens. Suddenly he felt himself plunge, but not a frightful plunge, in fact he was strangely at peace with everything around him. He plummeted towards an immense forest, one that was completely foreign to him. The ground was getting increasingly closer he mused, as he passed through the treetops, and then as if almost to late he felt himself slow and as he slowed he slept again. When he awoke he was in a strange room, in a strange place, not the tree rooms of his home, but the ground dwellings of the short-lived. Not that he had anything against the humans, but his parents told him many times of their shortsightedness brought on by the short lifespans they had. But the room was warm and the bed was cozy, and she could smell the most divine smell coming from further into the home. Almost as if by magic he was drawn to the inner chamber. Standing by the fire was to become his mentor, friend, confidant, and unfortunately his next defining loss. Chenyl kindly welcomed Valorian and told him of finding him under a wagon and bringing him here to the safety of her cabin. Being young for an elf at 16 and afraid Valorian knew he needed help to ever exact revenge on Giants for destroying his life! The rage welled up in him and he also knew he must learn things of this world to avenge his parents, he spoke hesitantly and with renewed hope, and accepted the warm offer. He however decided against telling her the story of the light, it seemed so distant and unreal now anyways. Chenyl was one of the Waterdeep Rangers and she taught her friend and student Valerian all of her ways, many a night trapsing throughout the Forests and Wild lands that surround Waterdeep, even far to the North to witness and touch the great glacier. And it was on the last trip that his mentor was cruelly snatched from this life by the final master: Death. It was her time she assured Valorian, 78 years was a long time in this life and more than half of that now she had spent training and sharing the wonders of nature with him. As the final breaths took her she whispered to him that the light and the voyage was not a dream of youth she had had, but the blessings of their shared Goddess who knew that she could never have a child of her own. Chenyl's final worrds wafted quitely on the wind to Valorian's ears, " You are of age of your people at 44 to go out and explore and live, love, and dance, but always remember - To thine ownself be True! Please always believe in and listen to the wisdom of nature, and most of all remember that all things have their place!" and with that she passed silently into death. Valorian would be forever changed, the words still echo in his mind to this day. Chenyl was consistent and diligent about Valorian's training, and his learning to accept all things of nature, but she could not teach Valorian to accept Giant's of any kind, and her hatred continues to burn to this day. After Chenyl's passing Valorian took a commission with the Waterdeep Rangers, and was assigned to scouting missions in Undermountain, he is a veteran of many a delve into the dark, and has honed his skills over the last several years of being on constant alert within the vastness of Undermountain. After his commission with the Rangers, Valorian continued freelance work joining Adventuring Companies making excursions into the deepest of the dungeons of Halaster's domain. In these journeys he has made great friends like all of you. He does not know exactly what the future will bring but he is a survivor and will lead the way!
Would you be willing to put 2 more in. I have a friend and me that are trying to get back into playing, we are old school players form years ago and have gotten away form WoW (7 years gone) but would like to get into this. Let me know if you have spots for two more, we are ready to play tonight.
Sorry I just filled my position. Good luck! We need more of us old time table gamers playing this.
