whispering to languages

So I was testing a few things with my DM, and it turns out, if your character doesn't know a language, but you know the command (ie. /w Elven to speak Elven) you can still whisper to that group, but not see anything from the group. You shouldn't be able to call the command if you don't have the permission to see those whispers.
Hi, Jeahnoh . What you're actually doing when you enter "/w Elven" into the Text Chat is sending a whisper to a Character named "Elven", which was set up by your GM. That whisper is received by all users who are listed in the  Can Be Edited & Controlled By field of that Character. It is not possible to prevent players from whispering to certain Characters. If this is a concern in your game, I would ask your GM to ask players not to send whispers to Characters that the GM is using to represent languages.
