L5R - Any groups need a player?

Just checking if there are any L5R games out there with space for another player. I'm available most weekends and Tuesday and Friday evenings, EST. If there aren't any, I might considered running something myself in a month or 2, if there is enough interest.
I'd be interested in an L5R (4th edition) campaign if someone were to run one.
I'd be interested too.
Seems to be very hard to find GMs for L5R which is a HUGE shame since it's AMAZING.
So why dont one of you try it out?
I couldn't GM to save my life; the idea of memorizing all the mechanics boggles my mind.
So then come up with the game, and get a couple co-dms for the mechanics. Its not such a daunting task, since you need to memorize most the mechanics to play anyway.
I'd be interested in playing. Also I'd recommend if anyone is GMIng - maybe give a crack at the Second City Boxed Set for 4th Edition? From what I've heard it gives both players and GMs everything they need to play in both terms of flavor and a storyline that includes all the clans.
Ive been looking into getting the second city campaign. I may try to set up and run that starting the beginning of the year. I will hit up the people that have posted here for potential players if I do that.
Sounds good Evan. Please count me in if you go forward with running a campaign.
I'm up for playing L5R as i ran it for a few years now, let me know if you are running and what day/time (GMT +0 player here)
Just posting to express my interest in playing should a campaign get underway.
Ohai Gazz :D Gary T is a GM for my L5R campaign.
I"ll be up to play a l5r game.. I had limited exposure years ago; however I loved the setting, and will be willing to play if the game is on the weekend

Just to get an idea, who would be available for a Saturday (probably midday-afternoon EST) game? Probably starting after the new year. If that works for you, have you played the topaz championship adventure? Have you played the Second City campaign? I am thinking about running a topaz championship as an intro/trial and then possibly if things go well picking things up with Second City.
That sounds awesome. I am in EST and could probably swing Saturday afternoon. How often would it run? Monthly would be no problem for me. I could also do twice a month but any more than that wouldn't be possible for me.
I guess I'll have to send messages to some of the other people that expressed interest before. I would probably run between 1 and 2 times a month.
Sounds good. I would love a slot if there is one available. If not, no worries.
Id be interested in L5R. Im a total noob and could get the rule and mechanics down by the turn of the year. I you guys dont have a problem w/ having a completly new player to the campaign, please count me in. Im EST and would be good for Sat. mid-afternoon/evenings a couple times a month.
Ok I am looking at maybe mid January for the firs game. I will be on vacation until the 7th. Initially PCs will be contestants in the Topaz championship. Which should be a good introduction to the settings and rules for anyone unfamiliar. The second week of January I will contact/invite people by pm until the games full. Im only gonna commit to that short adventure for now, but if all goes well, I may pick up with Second City from there. Just as an FYI, I am gonna be enforcing some rather strict communication policies I think, because it really bothers me when we meet for a game and I don't know if half the players are gonna show or not. I will spell out the policy when I send out invites.
How large of a group are you looking to run?
Hi. I'm new in this website, and thought of looking for one of my fav games. That's how I ended up here. I have played L5R since the first edition, which I still keep for playing from time to time. I have most of the guides from the first to the fourth, although I haven't gotten to play much of the last one yet. I would love to play, if possible. But I know my schedules are awful because of living on the other side of the planet. lol
I got the Second City boxed set for Christmas and plan on running the campaign sometime in the new year. I'm an experienced pathfinder GM, and I'd like to run a roleplay-heavy game. I'll post a topic when I'm about to start playing, but feel free to pm me if you'd like to reserve a spot in the game.
you talking older black books or new red books? RPG, right? I can't do fridays or saturdays. I used to run 7th sea. I have some of the newer red books, but never actually ran it or played it, but read it. I studied Asian Religions in college so theres some significant interest. I could run this in spring/summer 2014, if there was interest, or take over or rotate through with someone if it starts sooner. Right now, a pile of stuff on my plate, but I have wanted to do some of this since the old BUSHIDO rules in the 80s, and later Oriental Adventures, but never met anyone in PA that wanted to do this. Probably my days won't match anything starting soon, but I'm stepping up and saying yeah, Down the road , not January, not February, i am willing to run this. just too much involved in right now. And it would be the new red books.
Good question, which edition will be run? Since ill need to get my hands on the books. I did find a 4E quick start rules on the web that I read through. In process of getting my hands on the books, so knowing what edition everyone is up for would be cool.
Anything I run will be 4th (the current) edition. Not sure what color it is since I have the special ed which is black. I know 3rd was red.

How big of a group you looking to run?
I will probably go with 6 or 7 player, so we would have enough that we don't have to cancel if a couple can't make it, but not so many that its unmanageable.
yeah mine are 3rd.

What's your plan for the campaign setting, is it still the fore mentioned Topaz Championship?
If anyone wants to play a Brand New System let me know. DND Fantasy style: It's called DALRUAN. I just posted here on the Forums: https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/540397/i-cast-ma...
I still plan to run the Topaz Championship. I think I am going to set it in the current (Post Destroyer War) period. This will be very weird for people familiar with earlier settings that haven't read up on the current history, but I think the Championship should do a pretty good job of introducing it.
yeah, i haven't played the ccg, just interested because its asian culture.
Got my hands on the 4th ed book, from a friend, and obsolutly love the backstory to L5R. Can't wait to give this RPG a try. Got no interest in CCG games.
WooHoo!!! Got me a some more L5R books, reading and getting ready to go!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am also hyped for a game. All the clans and schools are awesome. How are you supposed to choose just one? I will have my mind made up by the time games get started. 2014: Year of the Rings.
I'm mainly available on Saturdays--every time I've tried to play a game during the week, my job's made me drop out. But yeah, I was part of a pretty awesome L5R campaign until the DM vanished a few months ago, and I've had this perfectly good character just sitting around doing nothing since then, so if anyone needs a player...
I'm still trying to wrap my head around the mechanics of the game. Never played an RPG with this style of rule set. As well as trying to figure out what type of character I want to create.
