Interest Check - Numenera Campaign

Hello everyone! I'm a very long time GM/DM/Whatever who has been running campaigns for about two decades now. After 15 years my current group is beginning to wind down and so I'm looking at the internet to provide me more gaming opportunities! In specific I recently got a hold of Monte Cook's Nemnera and am interested in throwing a game together for it. Potentially very long term but as a new group we'd have to figure it out. So I suppose the first real question is does anyone want to actually experiment around with the new game/system at all?
The setting sounds fun, but i never played it. I would be interested in joining a game.
Neat thing is I just picked up the book a couple of days ago. It'd be a learning experience all around!

I would be interested. I'm fairly new to this as I only have a couple of sessions under my belt, but I picked up the book for the setting, and while I found it less interesting than what I expected, the actual system seems like it would be fun to use. The problem may be that I'm in the GMT+1 timezone but I can play at most times during the weekend.
A 9 hour time difference would be difficult but not impossible to work through. I used to have to deal with a 16 hour time difference. That said you don't seem exactly 'chomping at the bit', having read a bit more of the the book now and listen to some of the pod casts that involve the creators and writers, the setting is highly emphasized so you might end up disappointed were you to join a game.
Was kind of looking through it as well not the book but, on the website and does look like fun. Though, I am a new player all around. I have been interested in playing games like these but never can seem to find a group ^^; So, I would like to play if you still have room and would like to learn all I can.
Indeed Dezirae, this is all about interest, I think I have enough people who are interested to actually start a group at this point. Time is still up in the air, so far all we have is "not Monday." I'm hoping for 3-5 different players, with a variety of skill levels and maybe some people who join from time to time. God knows I've been doing this long enough that I like to help some people learn their way through things. I've got some campaign ideas already but at the end of the day it's what we all want to work out and what decisions WE come to that matter most. I'm going to give this thread a couple more days but I'm putting together the campaign proper in pieces right now and will post an official 'join up' request late this week. All I ask from my players is the time you set aside, set aside, if you can't make it give us some warning before hand (though emergencies happen), and regardless of your age, be mature. It's fun and games but let's all be adults about it. Beyond that, I think we can work through just about everything. The only other thing I can think about is my goal is for this to be a long term group so if anyone is just looking for a couple of months and then bail you CAN do that, I can't stop you, but I'd prefer if you'd be willing to stay on (not necessarily THIS game but in general) for a lengthy period of time. Gamers and friends is my hope.
Oh and to potential players, I have bought additional copies in the digital format so I will be able to provide at least the base materials for you. Don't worry about having to buy the rules.
Well regarding the setting I said that it didn't exactly match watch expectations but I still like it a lot and I appreciate the philosophy behind it. That said it also is the first manual I read (I actually read a few even if I haven't played a lot) that made me think about GMing, that is another reason I want to get a bit of experience as player. That said thanks for trying to get me on board even with the time difference. I'll try to be as flexible as possible.

I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a case of, "Well I better get experience SOMEHOW and I guess this wanker's game will do." The base timezone (one of the few perks I get as a GM) will be GMT -8, but we'll see what we can get going here soon (For all the non-US crew, I would recommend using http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/meeting.htm... to get a clue of scheduling. You can use Vancouver, Seattle, Portland San Fransisco or Los Angeles, as cities for the GMT -8 time zone. Whatever day we're going to be playing will most likely have to be in the evening over here and the only day that's absolutely out is Monday). I've worked a lot of players through their first game, campaign and the like (as well as being an editor!) so while I'm going to need an experienced player or two to help with showing the ropes to the really new players, I'm more than happy to share my ages of experience and bad habits knowledge. I also have NO requirements for being a native English speaker. But I will require you to be able to use a mic/voice chat, not interested in text only. I'm thinking 16+ age requirement but I will leave final decisions to the group. I try to take group input into a lot of the decisions I make since it is ALL of us working together to have fun.
I am happy to say most any day works for me, I work 6am to 3pm usually at that is MST so any time after that is fine. Some days like Wens I cant because of stuff I have going on later in the day but most other days I am free especially Thurs and Tues.
The setting is very interesting I've not got into the mechanics yet, and I am very interested. I've got about 3 years Pathfinder/3.5 experience, and I'm eager to try some new systems; just PM me with some details when you get to setting things up, and lets learn together!
I would really like to play in your game. I am available on the weekends pretty much till i have to go on deployment which is like a year or two from now. Jecktar the mystical Nano who works miricles.

Ok here's what I'm thinking so far (about to start PMing the link to the actual campaign forums): -16+ age restriction -Have to have a mic/access to voice chat -Some time between Thursday and Friday GMT -8 (Afternoon here, probably 4-8pm?) -No experience Restriction: -Though I want at least one person with >5 years gaming experience and one person who is new Tomorrow I'll send out links to the forum for the campaign I've created and a pretty detailed description of what I'm aiming for and looking for. That way you can see if your style/interests match mine and we can see about creating a good group that'll hopefully last a good long while!
Unfortunately it seems that I am in the worst timezone for playing with you. Assuming we play the usual 4 hours I can get up for 7:00pm (10:00pm at GMT-8) no problem but it's quite late for you. I could instead stay up until 3:00am which means starting at 11:00pm (2.00pm at GMT-8) and that seems a bit better but not by much. I won't blame you if you don't want to accomodate me. That said if it can be done I can play in your aftenoon in these days: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday. I could occasionally play in other days as well if needed but not constantly

Gah I meant Thursday through Sunday. Vincenzo P. said: Unfortunately it seems that I am in the worst timezone for playing with you. My days of staying up to 2am to game are long over unfortunately and 2 am for me would be much harder on them even. I suppose if I have a lot of interest from the European time zones we could work something out but I will be going with whatever works with the majority. since I derped here's the times I have available: (Start time) 4-8pm/1600-2000hrs (GMT -8/PST) Thursday through Sunday. Then depending on how much free time we have 2-4 hour play time weekly . jamez k. said: Hello. Just wanted to throw my hat in the ring i would love to play and long short or one shot. Well I won't be running pathfinder any time soon so you'll have to deal with a long term Numenera game XD. That time in the evening would work. One of my meetings will be mind numbing and will probably give me the chance to finish the little application for the game that I wanted to do. Mostly just basic information and then we'll figure out who all will be playing with us!
Sorry for the delay. However if you're still up for joining, here's the pregame discussion! https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/476025/new-nume... I thank everyone for their PMs and posting here, let's make this the best we can!
