[LFP][Blades in the Dark][Roll20/Skype][GMT and European time zones] GM looking for players.

The crypt smells of mold, damp and decay. Blood seeps into the stone of the altar filling each crack and ridge. Sonorous chanting and whispered incantations attempt to mask the oppressive silence. The faces watch you, they wear the mist and fog like cloaks and rest just outside of your vision. Death walks these halls you feel it in the marrow of your bones, in the pit of your stomach and see it in every shadow. The crypt is a vast monolith consuming all who enter, none who enter are every seen again. The rumors persist, ghouls, vampires or a guild of shadowy assassins. Monsters haunt this crypt that much is true, but they are human masked and draped in robes of pitch. You start to hear the voices they speak a long dead language, you wonder if they commune with one another or the dead. A blade screeches against a grindstone, the sound is repulsive but you can’t help but find the source. Sparks fly from the wheel, no one is there the room is empty and the blade is sharp nonetheless. Welcome to Blades in the Dark a tabletop game of scoundrels, shootouts and scheming. You and other players will work to create and maintain a fledgling criminal empire - your crew - and then take on various shady jobs to improve your standings and status amongst a turbulent criminal society. Gameplay focuses on the moments of daring do during a job (with occasional flashbacks) and the downtime between scores when you recover and pursue all the wretched delights the nights in Doskvol can offer. We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic players, in the GMT time zone or other European time zones (Sincerely wish we could take people outside of these, but it makes things very difficult as far as scheduling time and such). We'd also ask that you provide a method to contact you on a regular basis, Whatsapp or something similar works fine. For Blades in the Dark as a mission-based game, the sessions should last around 2 - 4 hours, but that can vary such is the nature of any roleplaying game. Now for a few questions if you could fill out the ones below and stick it in a reply. Have you played tabletop games before? What days/times would you be available to play? Have you read, seen or played any of the touchstones listed at the end of this post? And finally, tell us about yourself, what do you think you could bring to the table and why should we pick you over other people? Here are some touchstones for the game to give and idea of setting and such. Games: Thief: The Dark Project and its sequels, by Looking Glass Studios. Dishonored, by Arkane Studios. Dark Soulsand Bloodborne by Hidetaka Miyazaki and From Software. Books: The Vlad Taltos novels (Jhereg, etc.), by Steven Brust. The stories of Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser, by Fritz Leiber. The Lies of Locke Lamora, by Scott Lynch. Best Served Cold, by Joe Abercrombie. Hawkwood Series by James Mcgee Films/TV:  Click here ! We are planning on paying the cultist crew, so be aware before replying.

I'd be interested in a Blades in the Dark game. I've watched a few steams of it on RollPlay and it caught my eye. I've played RPGs for 15+ years and been active on Roll20 since 2012. I live in GMT+1 and am available on Monday/Friday evenings as well as Satudays. Although I've not read any of the books you've listed, I've seen almost all of the films and played all of the games. I absolutely love stealth games, and while I also I enjoy the atmosphere of Dark Souls, I'm not a fan of games that force me to bang my head against a brick wall continuously.  If I were to play in your game, I'd hope to bring enthusiasm and dedication. I'm a fan of the Shadowrun RPG and love the urban fantasy of the Dresden Files, which makes me think that Blades in the Dark would be a terrific game. I want to find out if that's true.
Hi I'd love to be a part of your game, with the release of the "finished" version of the game coming out Monday. If you're interested in me joining after read the rest of my post please, PM and we can connect on Discord. In reply to your questions Have you played tabletop games before? Yes, I have played and GM'd role-playing games before. Experience includes: Dungeon World, Pathfinder, Rogue Trader 40k, 5e, Dresden Files (FATE), and others What days/times would you be available to play? I live in the EST timezone, but my preferred gaming hours are 6 PM -5 AM GMT. I can start an hour or 2 earlier, but can not go later on some days. Any day but Saturday is fine. Have you read, seen or played any of the touchstones listed at the end of this post? I have played Dishonored, and some Dark Souls 2/3, read the Lies of Locke Lamora series, I have read the First Law series, but have not read Best served Cold or later novels.  And finally, tell us about yourself, what do you think you could bring to the table and why should we pick you over other people? I am a 35 year old, who is excited to sink his teeth into Blades. I'll freely admit my experience with the "weird" aspects of the game may be less than others, but I also thinks there's room in character to play off that very ignorance as well. I value things like reliability and punctuality in the social contract of forming a roleplaying group. I also expect everyone to freely and reasonably discuss expectations, wants things we dislike or are offended by etc in play and out. Which is just a roundabout way of saying I show up on time reliably, am not prone to fits/rage quiting, and am sensitive to the concerns/issues brought up by other players. All in all I'm a reasonable person with a dry, relatively sarcastic, and self deprecating sense of humor. All in all online roleplaying with new people can sometimes feel like a crapshoot, and while I can't definitively say I am any better than anyone else or a perfect fit for this particular group, I can say that if things don't work out, its no hard feelings, and I hope we had some fun during the times we played together.
Have you played tabletop games before? Yeah. I've played a lot of PbtA, specifically, as well as many other systems. I am interested in this game because, while I've had a lot of good times with PbtA systems, they feel a little same-y to me at this point and I am very interested in experiencing how Harper evolved the paradigm. From what I've read, it looks like the game has a lot of interesting new ideas to it. What days/times would you be available to play? Right now I am available on all weekday evenings. Let's say a three or four hour session sometime in the 4PM-11PM GMT time window is when I would be most comfortable playing in. (I am GMT+2). I suspect my Sat game might not be terribly long for this world and that slot might free up in, like, a month, but I intend to stick with it until then - it's only polite, innit? Have you read, seen or played any of the touchstones listed at the end of this post? Played all, read all except Hawkwood, watched a sizeable amount. And finally, tell us about yourself, what do you think you could bring to the table and why should we pick you over other people? I'm 31, Russian, a curmudgeon with a tendency to quip. This is a pretty hard question to answer. I suppose here's a few of the 5e characters I have lying aroung, to show you what my sensibility is about. Make your own call: Character Information Character Name: Mr Solutions Character Race: Forest Gnome Class: Wizard Gender: Wizard Age: Wizard Alignment: Neutral Evil Background: Faction Agent Optional Character Backstory: Mr Solutions belongs to a... special interest club. It is a discreet union of ambitious individuals of arcane bent who value their privacy, who pool their resources for purposes of mutual advancement and who all share an interest in the esoteric knowledge and artifacts of arcane value. The few individuals outside this association that would be aware of its existence might refer to it as an "evil wizard cabal", but that would be an incredibly reductive label, colored by envy, superstition and the resentment of the Other. Mr Solutions has been a long-time associate of this organization, but hasn't made much progress in its ranks. There is a Rival. The Rival gets all the plum jobs. The Rival gets patted on the head. The Rival is one lucky piece of shit. Well, not anymore. The Rival was supposed to be sent to investigate this place, but they are... indisposed now. Mr Solutions is the one going in their stead. The organization isn't exactly aware of this, but they value Initiative and Results and as long as Mr Solutions brings back something good, it'll all be worth it. Let me rephrase that. He'd better fucking bring back something good. --------------------------- Character Info Character Name: Moloch Blackwater Race: Half-Elf Class: Warlock Alignment: Neutral Background: The villagers feared the Blackwater Manor and its inhabitants even before the night everyone died. The Blackwaters were not kind masters. People disappeared. No one was brave enough to do anything about it. There were rumors of necromancy, of unholy pacts. The rumors were correct. Blackwaters would do anything for power, even sacrifice their only heir to their dark patron. Except it all went wrong. When not knowing what had happened at the Manor became more unbearable than the terror it induced, the peasants gathered their pitchforks and investigated. They didn't need to know the concept of geometry to know that it was all wrong inside. The basement gave a gruesome answer to where all the missing people went. In its darkest depths there was an altar, surrounded by robed corpses of its owners, rictuses of terror on their bloated faces. There was a baby on the gore-slick altar, unharmed. In a rare display of restraint normally uncharacteristic of pitchfork mobs, the peasants decided to bring the last living Blackwater to a nearby temple where he was deemed fit to live and, once the legalities of the Blackwaters' inheritance were processed, sent off to be raised in a boarding school far, far away. Now the school is done with Moloch and there is no more money left, but his parents left him one last gift. Somehow, he knows things. Sometimes, he hears whispers. He can do things no one should be able to. Might as well put them to use, no? Personality: Good-natured lad, if a little quiet. Zero inclination to ritually slaughter. Effortless brooder. Can make eating cereal without a spoon look mysterious and sad. Epicenter for dramatic gusts of wind. Looks like a goofy teenager if he ever actually smiles. Really likes dogs. Can be coldly pragmatic, when it comes to solving complicated ethical issues. --------------- Name: Stabwald Snickersnack Class: Rogue/Fighter (basically an Assassin build) Premise: Stabwald Snickersnack is a Kobold Kommando from the Free Republic of Shalt, a polity in a hollow earth world in the Material Plane where kobolds the only form of sapient life. As a Kommando, Stabwald signed up for the secret inter-kingdom taskforce dedicated to two things: protecting koboldity against all monster threats and also looking hecka badass while wearing tight leather uniforms. He is excellent at both. When investigating an anomaly deep in the bowels of their world, Stabwald got separated from his team by a monster attack, then ended up going through a naturally occurring unstable portal to (presumably?) Forgotten Realms. It's weird, man. This sky thing, what the heck is that? And the sun, yeeeeesh. Terrible. And get this... the sapients here are mammals, with, like, hair and genitals and pregnancies and milk and stuff! Like, what? At least these folks he joined up with are nice. For mammals. And then they get pulled to hecking Ravenloft. Can a kobbo catch a break here?
Is this a voice or text game, btw?
Hi I'd love to be a part of your game. for the first: some games but im new on Roll20  secend: all days besides Tuesday and Wednesday and time 6/7pm to 0:00 but we can talk about it I`d have see many of the things and im are following a Blade in the dark game on YouTube and finally about me: well im are liverollspiller and love this kind of game style, played warhammer 40k dark Hersy and Rouge trader, im a funny guy or at least i like to think so and im a planning ahead but you are better off seen yourself. if your curious then pm me or take me on for a trial, nothing to lose and maybe a new friend to gain?
I must admit, ever since the first episode of RollPlay: Blades, I've fallen in love with the very concept of this RPG and have been searching for a potential campaign to take part in.  I've had a wide range of experience in terms of RPGs and Roleplaying in general as I've RP'd on WoW, GW2, Swtor for many years and have taken part in multiple RPG campaigns in settings such as WH40k (Dark Heresy, Rogue Trader & Black Crusade), D&D Pathfinder & 5e (Think that was the version, can't remember 100%). I'm planning on buying the PDF over the coming days and having a good read of it in terms of character creation though I've got a few ideas in the thought-bank already. In regards to the questions given, please see below: Have you played tabletop games before? As mentioned briefly above, I've played a number of tabletop games before, having taken part in various WH40k campaigns alongside D&D of differing versions. Most campaigns have come to a close for various reasons and I've reached the point where I'm itching to RP again! What days/times would you be available to play? My current schedule only really leaves Wednesday Evenings and all day Sundays free, however I may have some scope for shifting a few things around. Have you read, seen or played any of the touchstones listed at the end of this post? Sadly I haven't had the pleasure of reading any of the listed books, but can easily look into them! I have however played both Dishonored games, Dark Souls 1, 2 & 3, Bloodborne and the 2014 Thief. As a bit of extra flavour, Bloodborne is probably by far one of my most enjoyed and favorite games of all times to the extent that I am actually planning on getting a tattoo themed around it. I absolutely adore its theme, all the way down to the style of clothing and the immensely surreal eldritch aspects of it in the latter stages of the game. On the film front however; I have seen a few of them, some that stand out however are as follows: The Prestige, Sherlock Holmes (Both), Luke Cage, John Wick, Hustle, Italian Job and a few others. And finally, tell us about yourself, what do you think you could bring to the table and why should we pick you over other people? I will put it bluntly, this type of question I always tend to struggle with, It always catches me out as I find it difficult to describe myself without a bias opinion of sorts. That being said, I'll give it a shot - I feel that I can bring an broad outlook and imagination to the group, being able to offer suggestions, feedback and character diversity to the group. I am more than happy to adapt to fit the party though at the same time am not afraid to stay in character in certain situations. In most cases, I do try to and keep an eye on the party and make sure that everyone feels involved and no one is left out as well, we're all in to have fun! This will normally take the form of an in-character interaction (providing it is my turn at the time) or if discussions are occurring, ask their input on the matter.  I've probably forgotten a few things but am more than happy to speak further on platforms such as Discord or Skype. Thanks for spending the time to read through this!

Have you played tabletop games before? I have played many table tops games from DND 5e in person to munchkin, Pandemic, battlestar galactica. What days/times would you be available to play? Monday to Thursday and Sunday from about 7pm GMT to 10PM starting time ideally.  Have you read, seen or played any of the touchstones listed at the end of this post? I have played Thief one two and three Did not really get into the "rebooted" version, Dishonored one but not yet played the second, All of the dark souls games and bloodborn.   And finally, tell us about yourself, what do you think you could bring to the table and why should we pick you over other people? I enjoy playing deceptive PC's that add a touch a chaos in the pot nothing to create any problems but to get them thinking. I create Pc and Rollplay them which can be slightly annoying depending on how people play but helps lighten the mood. I have no problems "filling" in a roll a party might need but that pc always has a flare about them.  Me personally my name is David and am 24 i enjoy a Playing games RPG's, Hack and slash and Action-adventure. Am from and live in the UK, I enjoy the Victorian steam punk setting shame many games don't touch on it. I have seen the game played on youtube and twitch but have not yet had a chance to buy the PDF which am hoping to do at the start of next week. I have played a lot of PnP games such as DND 2, 5e, Stars without numbers, Star wars Core revised edition, Star wars edge of rebellion, Shadow run 2E. And a few one shots of systems i don't quite remember. If you have any questions please feel free to message me. Thanks for taking the time reading this.
Hello, I was wondering if the group is now full, or if I can still apply. A Cult sounds like a fantastic lot of fun, and I'm dying to get to try Blades now that the full book is out.
hopefully the gm will post when gruppe is full and so on in here

Well, since the GM hasn't said the group is full, I'll go ahead and still apply. If it's full, that's okay too. I guess the first thing I should say is that I can occasionally GM to give Thomas a break sometimes, or alternate between us if he wants to play, or whatever. Have you played tabletop games before? I have, and it's only since I started writing this that I realize it's been a good twenty years now. Ugh. Anyway, I started on Elendor, and then I got into the Old World of Darkness playing Vampire, and Werewolf, and Mage. God I loved Mage. Seriously, that's a fantastic game for roleplay due to the essential nature of paradigm to the game. I've played a lot of Shadowrun, from 2nd edition to 4th edition, haven't gotten to try 5th yet. Played a lot of Deadlands and Hell on Earth as well. Played some Warhammer 40k games, including Dark Heresy and Rogue Trader and Deathwatch, but although I liked the universe I disliked the actual system. FATE is one of my favorite systems, as it's very fiction-driven and flexible, and I really like it. Dresden Files was great fun, too! Played various others like Delta Green and Alternity but not extensively. What days/times would you be available to play? I'm disabled iRL, so I can swing most days/times as long as I have warning. The usual group of people that I play other games with are European, so although I'm Pacific timezone, I'm used to playing with Brits and Germans and Austrians in their evenings. The primary caveat to this is that I have frequent doctor appointments, and as a result I may have to miss an occasional session due to appointments that just aren't available at other times. This won't come up very often though. Have you read, seen or played any of the touchstones listed at the end of this post? Thief 1 and 2, absolutely. Still have them somewhere. Dishonored I actually got /because/ John Harper recommended it, and I'm glad I did, that game is great. Dark Souls I've watched, but haven't played because I fail at action games. The Lies of Locke Lamora, and the rest of Scott Lynch's Gentleman Bastard Sequence books, are some of the best novels I've ever read, and his curses and epithets are truly beautiful. It feels weird to praise a guy based on his cursing, but hell, if Patrick Rothfuss can do so, then I can at least agree. The Vlad Taltos novels by Steven Brust I started reading because of their being a touchstone John mentioned, and I have to say, magical assassins are fun. I'm working my way through them, and at the moment I'm reading Athyra, the sixth novel. I'll get to the other authors with time I'm sure. I saw Sparticus. I watched Peaky Blinders because of John Harper's recommendation, at least the first season so far, and that's pretty fun. I'm going to have to watch The Wire one of these days. Enjoyed Leverage and several of the other shows listed. I don't really watch much TV though. And finally, tell us about yourself, what do you think you could bring to the table and why should we pick you over other people? I'll be honest; I don't really like that this question suggests competition so strongly. I'm a roleplayer who is extremely into the game. I devoured the two podcast/let's play series John has done and continue to do so. I want to explore my character's feelings and motivations. I try to get into their heads and figure out how they think. I have no end to character concepts, and as such I generally let the others pick what they want to play, and then I make something complimentary. Deciding which concept to play tends to be the hardest part for me. Maybe this is what you're looking for. Maybe it's not. Let me know. :)
Hey everyone, wanted to thank you for your time and effort. I'd have gotten back to this sooner but work has been hectic as of late. Unfortunately we have found all the people we needed for now. That said people sadly tend to come and go or things happen and if that does happen I'll come back here to find other people to invite along! Thanks again for the effort, appreciated.
Alrighty. Let me know if you wind up with a slot free :)
Likewise! Would definitely be up for jumping in should a spot open up :)
When and if we do I shall come back here to look, again thanks everyone :)
