Voice-Acting Group (GMT)

Hello there! I am looking for a group to practice my voice-acting with. I really enjoy roleplaying, and used to be really good at it back when I used to game offline, but I've struggled to regain the skill since I started online roleplaying (problems like people sharing microphones so none of them can be heard clearly, people talking over each other, and a lot of the games having too much of a fast-paced plot and intense action scenes for me to really practice the voice-acting part). So the kind of thing I'm looking for is a place where I can practice with various characters, to build on and rehearse their "voice" and personality so it becomes easier to play as them in session. Even if it's just "you all meet in a tavern." For systems, I would mention that I'm looking for a rules-light group, because it's not the rules I care about. However, overall, I'm *most* familiar with Pathfinder (so it has the advantage of not having to learn a new system), and the only rule-set I'd refuse to play are 4e D&D or 5e D&D. Let me know if anyone's interested in setting such a thing up. Thanks in advance!

Why refuse to learn 5e? In my opinion the only games I play are 5e, Pathfinder, and Dungeon World, because those are the best (in fantasy settings). Plus 5e is very easy to learn. It's geared towards encouraging RP more rather than exploiting stats and power builds (though still possible to do) so I'd think that would almost be the go to IMHO.

That's interesting. The 5e players that I've met came across as very anti-roleplaying, so I might have got the wrong impression from them. In that case it wouldn't be a deal-breaker, I just expected it would have continued in the direction of 4e.

Yeah, they backed off a bit on heavy rules, there's a cap on how high stats can go, and it just feels more balanced to me. There's still rules and mechanics, and those are similar to past systems, but it's definitely backed up a notch from how OP 4e and 3.5 could be. Plus with the way this site is moving with the compendium, it's making sheets simpler and that makes more room for RP in my mind. I still highly prefer Pathfinder myself, but I would never rule out 5e. Now 4e, that's a train wreck.
Heya! My skype is ferelonshaderoot. Message me if youre still looking for voice actors!
I wouldn't blame the system for the players you've interacted with. I was part of a D&D 4e group that is still going almost four years later on a pretty reliably weekly basis. I had to drop out because of my work schedule changing, but I still follow their exploits via our Google+ group. They're a pretty damn good group of role-players and the system doesn't hinder them at all. People being pro- or anti- roleplaying has nothing to do with the system they're using and more about who they are as a person. I wouldn't limit your options just because of a few people you've met.
I am not aware of what your preferences are as far as your setting but if you are looking to hone your voice acting skills I would suggest a game that is heavily focused on storytelling like the World of Darkness games for example.
Well, if Dungeon World interests you at all, there is The Grand Experiment. http://www.dungeonworldsrd.com/

I would prefer not to derail this thread with debating the merits of any given systems. I'd much rather use this thread to find a group of people interested in developing their voice-acting skills together. I'd prefer more of a fantasy setting, but I'm open to it. The main issue is not sure what I'd jump into a major plot with. I'm more interested in the group than in the system.
I want to brainstorm ideas with you, Canniborc. I'm also a fan of player group assembly, that is before system & plot choice. Hope there are other people browsing these forums also seeking means for more of a creative output. Your voice acting proposal goes right down that lane. We'll stay in touch.
There are voice acting groups here playing 5e. And One Ring, a few others. good luck in your search.
