Committed Creative Players looking for a DM

UPDATE: We have found a DM. Thank you all for considering us. Happy Gaming! Heyo!  This'll be a long post, so bear with me, I'll try and get as much info out as possible.  I'll introduce myself first and explain our situation. Name's Ellie and Within the past year I have joined 2 campaigns that met weekly in person. Unfortunately they've both flopped. The DM's kept cancelling games week after week, and eventually quit communicating with us players all together. Both my boyfriend and I were really disappointed because we had made characters that we were really excited about. We figured the best way to get a game going as to get online. So here we are :) We're looking for a good ole fashion medieval fantasy adventure in D&D 5E! Huzzah! There are four of us with varying levels of experience. My boyfriend and I have a Laptop with a camera, and our two friends are a couple from another city who also have a camera and laptop. We are all creatives, we love characters, and roleplaying just as much, if not more than combat. We dig fantasy and fantasy stories, so if you love world building and want respectful and appreciative players, we're your group. We're happy to have others join us, so long as they are as dedicated as we are. Of course, you'd be DM so, however many you feel like having.  We're old! Okay not that old, I'm the youngest at 27, so we're looking for older more mature DM and players. There are no "loners" in our group. Our characters interact and actually do stuff. We also try to refrain from being murder hobos.  Our characters are pretty standard, we don't like to make things too complicated with multi-classing and all that. You can make any character interesting with personality, goals, and motivations yeah. As far as meeting times go , our best bet will be Sundays. We are open to meet Bi-weekly for a couple hours.   Or monthly for much longer sessions. We live in mountain time, and we typically have to end games around 10pm since we all have jobs n such. I think because we all got so excited about our characters in the last game that failed, some of us would like to carry them over to the new game. We did get to level 3, so I would leave it up to the DM to decide if we start at level 3 or 1. I would argue however, that it would be nice to start level 3 so I don't have to fuss with my character sheet. Like we could start a new game, with chars that haven't met, n all that, but, well I'm sure we'll get a chance to discuss it. In our group our characters are: Dwarf Ranger level 3 NG Teifling Cleric Level 2 LG? or NG? Human Druid Level 2 CG Our fourth player will probably roll a new character, More than likely he'll wanna be a magic user.  We're all big into back stories, just a warning, there might be some reading material for ya.  What kind of DM we'd looove to have: Dependable . We will do our best to attend the games and help in anyway we can. We'd love for a DM who didn't flake out on us in return.  Strict but not strict . It's fun to be silly, but the game/story feels more intense and more immersive if the world behaves somewhat realistically. Sometimes the rules help keep things from getting too ridiculous and unbelievable if ya know what I mean. I think most GM's just use their common sense, but I've had a GM in the past who prided himself on how lax he was on rules. The game, in my opinion got boring because there were no consequences, and I couldn't take the story seriously anymore.  Like I mentioned earlier we're all creatives, we draw, write, read, and attempt to act out our characters. We really get into it, and we're comfortable with roleplaying. We'd like to play with a DM that is as excited about story and world building as we are. Combat is fun and all, but so's the other stuff! A DM with some experience I think is good. The more the better. But you know, I think if you like story as much as we do, we'll get on fine. A Dm who'll hold a session zero. I don't know why this isn't more popular. We'd love to get to know you, and have you get to know us, and talk to each other about our expectations and roles and all that. We'd love to give you secret info about our characters, and ask you questions about the world you might be building. So yeah. Try not to railroad us too hard, or at perhaps, if you have to railroad, have it be for believable reasons. Thing is, we've got a geo-archaeologist/anthropologist major, a vet tech, a zoology nut, and a pair outdoors enthusiasts. Rivers flow downhill and the farther from the mountains they go the slower they get, so don't tell me there's a river a mile wide that is rushing by so fast it's impossible to get across by boat. Sorry, sounding nit picky here. You do you.  So yeah, I hope I don't sound too picky. We know being a GM is a lot of work and time, and it's asking a lot to have someone run our game. So if you would like to GM for us, we would be so grateful. We're very friendly people, and part of this whole D&D thing for us, is not just gaming, or story telling with friends, it's being sociable and staying connected. So we hope you'd be our friend, and have fun Gm-ing for us as we would playing for you.  Shoot me a message if this sounds good to you, or if you have any questions.  Thanks a million for reading  Ellie. P.S. I love to geek out about Critical role, Mathew Coleville, Nerdarchy, Harmon Quest, All that stuff, so if you do too, cool! We should geek out about it...squee.

Ellie, You all sound like a perfect group!  Thank you for reaching out.  I'd be delighted to throw in my character.   As I said in my post I am more than happy to provide some funding for maps, etc to create a nice atmospheric game.  I'll post the character I'm thinking of below. Thank you for inviting me. Character Name: Slate Race: Human Class: Fighter Urchin 22 years old Jet black hair, winter-blue eyes A quiet and focused loner. The nightly fog coated everything with a foul stench. Even the tide was receding, no doubt an attempt to escape the fetor. This area of the city was called “the dredge”. It was created years ago when wealthy merchants invested in expanding the dock area to the east and dumped all the green and purple sludge on this edge of the city. Over time wormwood shacks and driftwood hovels had sprung up - “homes” for the outcasts of society. Even the poor looked down on the ragged folk who lived in the dredge. The twilight barely revealed the dark figure leaning against a helter-skelter tumble of wood that had once been a building. The man’s taught hardened face stared impassively down the unlit street. Furtive shadows of dredge denizens darted here and there; it only took a quick glance for them to see that this was no mark. A thief would lose a hand, a brigand would lose his life; making an enemy of this one would be a short-lived affair. Slate brushed a lock of jet-black hair from his eyes, and let out a sigh. He was back home. It had been ten years since he had smelled the agony of the dredge. Sour odor…sour memories. He had liberated himself from this hellhole when he was 12 years old. Actually, his age was just a guess. He and his friends had been called many things…urchin, ragamuffin, gamin, guttersnipe…and much worse. He didn’t know when he was born nor where. As far back as he could remember his home was any corner inside a work-shed, stable, or abandoned building. The local orphanage helped feed him, but he didn’t sleep there. They didn’t care, didn’t have room anyway. His name was Slate…had always been Slate. It was because of his stygian black hair. He had a handsome narrow face with chiseled features and was fair skinned. His eyes were a light blue…a winter blue…a counterpoint to his hair. He was now 22 and had lost his childish features. His visage now was marred by a thin 3” scar across his right cheek. He always had been big for his age…tall…with broad shoulders. Now, with ten years of fighting behind him he was hard and muscled…calloused on the inside too…prepared for life. As a hired fighter he had earned a living here and there over the past decade. Earned enough to buy good armor and weapons. He would never look like a ragamuffin again. But, now it was time for him to seek his fortune. It was time to play hide-n-seek with death again, but this time it would be to see if he could get to the gold before death.
Sounds fun! we'd love to have ya! Slate would add a nice flavor to the group. I've got a couple responses from people curious DM's so we'll see what's up, and I'll of course keep you in the know. Right now we're thinking Sundays, but that could possibly change? A lot will depend on the DM and how frequently he/she is willing to play, so it's all in the air, still I'm excited.  Of course if you find any good DM's, lemme know. :)
Looking forward to it!!
